Avril Takes a Step in the Right Direction

Goodbye Lullaby unlike the record before, 'The Best Damn Thing', brings us back to the Avril that started back out in 2002. This album is filled with introspective lyrics and melodies, and focuses on Avril's insight to her relations with people. The songs are very emotional in tone, and Avril's voice has never been as strong as it is here. It serves the maturity that albums like Under My Skin couldn't provide. This album is not like anything out there right now, it doesn't boom with bass, or have any electro-pop beats (in exception to lead single, 'What The Hell'). Instead this album provides emotional vocals, acoustic guitars, piano and soaring strings that show that Avril is still very much the underdog in music when it comes to chart success, but she's definitly isn't when it comes to music quality.

Wasn't expecting much when I listened, but Avril really delivers a great album here, that doesn't sound like anything out there at the moment.

Disappointment

If your an avril lavigne fan... You wont like this. Shes lost me with this sellout record where i get the feeling shes trying to be like the latest bunch of disposable popstars. Which was NEVER avril lavigne. Very dissapointing... Dont buy it
