The rebel teenage tomboy matures

Avril is undoubtably back. The lead single, 'What The Hell' seems oddly out of place on the record but every other song on the album falls nicely into place one after another. Lavigne has stuck to her roots but blossomed and matured all the same. She was right not to give into the pressure of the record label to make a more upbeat/dance record.

Noticably different from 'The Best Damn Thing'

At first I was disappointed with this album. 'The Best Damn Thing' had pop songs that had a rock vibe, which made the songs great to listen to. But in Avril's new album, her songs seem to be toned down, and more acoustic. I purchased 'What the Hell' before the album came out, which is my favourite song, out of the whole album, which is more like her old songs than any of the others. I also love 'Smile' which is like her old songs too. 'Stop Standing There' is also good, so my opinion changed after listening to the album a few times. So maybe listen to the songs on the album before deciding. I'm a huge avril fan and I don't regret buying this album!

As the decade progressed, so...
