Ireland's First TELECOM APP allows you to get a landline number right on your iPhone. Say goodbye to line rental forever. The Blueface Banter App uses your GSM network to carry calls so there's no need to worry about WiFi hotspots or 3G signal.
The Banter App offers you the first virtual landline service in Ireland. Change the way you think about your landline number.
For anyone that needs a landline number without the hassle of having to pay line rental, the Blueface Banter App offers three fantastic features.
1. Virtual Landline – Your Landline, your way. Never miss a call. How it works:
When you sign up you will be asked for your area code, a number will be generated for that area/city or county. This is now your NEW landline number. You can receive calls on this number from your customers, friends and family. The call connection from your landline is charged at the mobile rate to your device, but you don't have to pay any line rental for this landline number.
Line rental is equal to €25 of money wasted. Whereas with Blueface €25 will give you 2 hours of inbound calls per month at peak times or up to 5 hours of calls during weekends.
2. Banter Call – Make great value international calls through your Blueface account right from your iPhone. How it works:
a- open the App, sign in and ensure you have credit in your account.
b- select 'Call' and choose the person you wish to call from your iPhone contacts list
c- the App will request a call from us to you and you can answer it*
d- the call is then connected to the number you selected**
3. Top Up Button - Top up your Blueface from the convenience of your iPhone. How it works:
a- click on the Top Up button and you'll then be taken to our secure credit/ laser card payment page online
b- enter your details
c- €10 will be added to your Pay As You Go balance immediately, so that can make calls straight away.
*For existing customers, inbound calls and outbound Blueface Banter calls are deducted from your Call plan minutes, Mobile bundle minutes or PAYG (Pay as you Go) account, where applicable.
**Please note that connection times may vary between destination.
What's New in Version 1.1
- Now displays the correct error message when a call request fails.
- Stops the application on receipt of an incoming call so that the video animation does not resume on restart.

Waste of money
Total rip off! Even if the person doesnt answer they charge you 10c. Sorry i topped up now, worst app ever. Dont bother
Irish Cord Cutters Rejoice!
I was paying €40 per month to eircom for DSL and fixed line rental. On a good day I was getting 750K on my DSL connection but I couldn't replace it as I really needed to keep my home phone number. If I had just removed DSL from my bundle then eircom would still have charged me €35 per month for the fixed line rental.
So I just ported my home phone number to Blueface and now I manage those calls from my iPhone with Banter. I got the €6.99 per month mobile call package from Blueface so I don't pay for the mobile call legs that other reviewers of Banter seem to be surprised by. I also got mobile broadband from 3 for €20 per month. So I now have ...
- saved €13 per month
- improved my data allowance from 10Gb on eircom to 15Gb on 3
- boosted my average measured broadband speed from <1M on eircom to >2M on 3
