The app is a biographical tour, scripted by Antoinette Quinn, a foremost scholar in the writings of the Irish poet, that documents the Kavanagh's life and work in the city. The app uses both visual and audio aids with Vincent Woods, as narrator to the Dublin literary trail, a poetry recitation from John McArdle, with a gallery of photographs to illustrate the poet's history.

Patrick Kavanagh, probably more than any other poet who lived and worked in Dublin, is particularly associated with one area of Dublin and this tour gives an insight into the life and work of one of Ireland's finest poets.

The Baggot Street / Pembroke Road area was the locality in which Patrick Kavanagh lived and worked for much of his life. This area became the source and inspiration of much of his most famous work. While there have been inevitable changes in the area over the decades since his death in 1967, the buildings and streetscape have remained much as they were in his time.

Members of the public can walk the trail from the Grand Canal to Raglan Road experiencing his poetry and gaining further insights into his life and presence in the area. The area is only ten minutes walk from St Stephen’s Green.

The Dubliners version of the well-known Patrick Kavanagh song serves as an accompaniment to the Raglan Road stage of the tour. As 2011 marks Dublin as the UNESCO city of literature, this app opts to involve people in the appreciation of Irish culture and heritage.
