About Beauty Sleep

Beauty Sleep formed in Brooklyn, New York, in 2004 when former college buddies Annabel Kaplan and Tony Larkin ran into each other by chance at a concert; following a few jam sessions, they recruited drummer Rob DiCaterino and bassist Brian DiFeo to round out the group. A wistful, dreamy indie pop affair whose jangly guitar work and earnest vocals nodded to twee-as-all-get-out artists like the Softies and the Field Mice, Beauty Sleep soon caught the attention of the Connecticut-based label Skipping Stones following the release of their self-titled five-track EP. Plans for a debut full-length album, Songs on Tape Recorders, were hindered by the sudden departure of DiFeo in early 2006, and the band went on hiatus in the summer of 2007 on the heels of the release of its four-song EP Nature vs. Nurture. ~ TiVo Staff
