The Race Classic | A polka here for a change, this one from the Sliabh Luachra, an isolated area straddling the Cork-Kerry, and South Limerick borders, in The South-West of Ireland. The area is the heartland of polkas and slides. The Maids of Mount Cisco | A fast-paced three-part reel here which is particularly popular across traditional playing on both sides of the Atlantic. The tune was first noted by fiddler Paddy Killoran while he was living in New York, and is believed to be from the Sligo fiddling tradition | 30 1 11 | Free | View In iTunes |
7 |
Dunphy’s Hornpipe | A smooth, easy to learn hornpipe here, from Francis O'Neill's "Dance Music Of Ireland". A tune that would suit most instruments, but particularly flute, banjo, and whistl | 8 1 11 | Free | View In iTunes |
8 |
Ward’s Jig | Also known by names like Jim Ward's Jig, and as Ward's Favorite, this is one of the most popular session jigs, particularly in Co. Clare and accross the south and centre of Ireland. Bonaparte Crossing The Alps | A march here that is well known on parts of the Western Seaboard. Goes quite well on all woodwind instruments, particularly on flute. Do watch out for the second part, it ain't as easy sometimes as it sounds. | 27 8 10 | Free | View In iTunes |
