No Notifications - Fix Please !
Apple Podcasts is definitely wonderful app to listen to Podcasts. But with recent changes to the app since ios 14, there are few bugs - bugs which are very serious as they hamper the very functionality of a Podcast app. Until ios 15 release the podcasts never used to show new episodes once you add a podcast to a library and start following it. It looks like ios 15 fixed that issue. But the other issue is “missing notifications”. No matter which podcast I subscribe to, there are no notifications that I get when a new episode releases. I tried the podcast settings, notification settings in the settings app and also the settings for each show separately. No matter wherever I tried to change the notifications, basically I don't get notifications for this app.
Queue is a mess 👎
While the app boasts an appealing design, its functionality falls short in several key areas. It lacks the ability to increase playback speed beyond 2X and does not offer options to skip starting or ending seconds, which are standard features in many podcast applications. While these may be considered minor inconveniences, the queue function, a fundamental feature for any podcast app, is disappointingly flawed.
Furthermore, given Apple’s robust ecosystem, it is surprising that the queue does not sync seamlessly across all Apple devices. Instead, users encounter separate queues on different devices, leading to confusion and frustration. Additionally, the app’s handling of episode selection within the queue is perplexing; inadvertently tapping on an episode while listening to another causes the current episode to disappear and be marked as played.
Addressing these basic functionalities is crucial for enhancing user experience and ensuring the app’s competitiveness in a crowded market. I urge Apple to prioritize these improvements, especially considering the wealth of successful apps available as inspiration.
