Second "solo" flight for italian bass player Andrea Fascetti.
"Cinema" comes three years after his critically acclaimed"Dedicated to Steve" where Andrea shows his unique voice on the electric bass.
Like first album,music is supported by a great band,in this case master drummer Massimo Manzi and young pianist Andrea garibaldi.
The trio swings and grooves really hard, interacts with sublime heart, and improvisationally is a joy to listen to.
Andrea Fascetti demonstrates his complete command of the instrument in walking and soloing and plays the bass guitar with an attention to melody and phrasing that reaffirms his status as one of a handful of truly masterful interpreters of the instrument in new jazz.
Program includes seven standards and three originals.
Music is superb and the leader demonstrates his great knowledge of the tradition,changing several arrangements and adding a new colour to the songs.
The record is really fun to listen.A special notice to "A Mario Monicelli" where Mr.Fascetti smooth-sounding bass delivers the sentimental melody with elaborations that flow like water over a bed of piano.The bass solo is awesome.
