Much like the preceding ten volumes, this installment in Stéphane Pompougnac's commercial mix series for Hôtel Costes is occasionally peppy but thoroughly posh and relaxing. Pompougnac has an unparalleled flair for rifling through dozens upon dozens of weekly dance music releases and finding tracks that neatly fit his aesthetic. The selections here come from the likes of Kraak & Smaak (“Enzo”), Morten Varano (“Dead End Street,” incorrectly listed on the sleeve as “Dead and Street”), and Marsmobil’s “Magnetising.”

Un altro Hotel Costes? Perché no? Pompougnac è l'unico che riesca a mescolare i generi musicali con questa facilità. Non piace a tutti? Sempre meglio delle hit radio. Visto che se non c'era lui, una perla come Boa Sorte di Vanessa de Mata e Ben Harper sarebbe rimasta sott'acqua per sempre.

At the age of 18, Stéphane Pompougnac made his DJ debut in clubs such as the Ubu, the Colony, and the Dream in Bordeaux, France, during the mid-'80s. After finishing his studies and national service, he spent six months in London before returning to Paris in 1992 where he mixed at clubs, such as Queen, Folies Pigalle, the Locomotive, and Privilege. One year later, he became the resident DJ at les Bains et Douche . Albert De Paname ostensibly first introduced him to Jean-Louis Costes although Pompougnac...
