Raphael Gualazzi's debut album in 2005 gained him some recognition in jazz circles. Its successor, Reality and Fantasy, appeared only six years later, but by then, the situation had drastically altered, as the pianist had won the Young Artist section at the 2011 Sanremo Festival with "Follia D'amore," earned second place at the Eurovision Song Contest with an English version of the same song, and attracted considerable interest in countries such as France and Germany. Reality and Fantasy was composed, produced, and arranged by the retro-looking yet multi-talented Gualazzi, a collection of traditional ragtime, jazz, and soul sung indistinctly in English or Italian in a voice that switches between a croon, a scat, and a guffaw.

REALITI AND FANTASY - Special Edition

Raphael, sei un talento di quelli veri. Uno come te rimarrà nella storia della musica. "Zuccherino Dolce" mi ha conquistato dopo cinque secondi di ascolto.
Nella tua musica non c'é nulla di scontato. Amo il jazz e grazie al tuo originalissimo stile, (che non é puramente jazz, come tu stesso hai dichiarato) tanta gente sta iniziando ad ascoltarlo....posso farti una piccola osservazione? "New Orleans" mi ricorda un pochino la musica della bellissima "Lady O' ".
Ci vediamo all'Arcimboldi...non vedo l'ora! Bravo, bravo e bravo!!!

Jazz man!

Grande seguito di un cd altrettanto emozionante. Ogni canzone è un piacere non da poco. Alla prossima Raphael!!
P.S. Anche per questo cd ho acquistato il cd poichè merita di essere conservato a lungo.

Best-known for re-introducing Italy to the Eurovision Song Contest stage, singer/pianist Raphael Gualazzi is also one of his country's most accomplished jazz-blues musicians. Born in the walled city of Urbino in 1981, his authentic sound is a result of his pianoforte studies at the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro, his subsequent research of early-1900s ragtime blues and New Orleans jazz, and a love of more contemporary acts like Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder, and Ben Harper.
