William "Smokey" Robinson's long career as a writer, singer, producer, and arranger has been an extraordinary one, but his best work, most would agree, was done with the Miracles at Motown Records in the 1960s, and that era is exactly what this 20-track collection covers. Song after song is a pop gem, including the graceful "I Second That Emotion," "You've Really Got a Hold on Me," and the two best songs about tears ever written, "The Tracks of My Tears" and "The Tears of a Clown." The best of the Motown years is here. Everyone needs these songs in their life.
