Description
In this course, Dr. Brown analyzes how churches and individual believers tend to default toward modes that are religious rather than Christian, and legalistic rather than liberated. Emphasis is given to how people change and how both the church and individual believers can make a significant impact on the world with the good news of grace, freedom, and faithfulness.

This really isn't a course
This is not really a course but rather more like a front porch chat with a very likeable guy. There was no structure and the the presentations seemed to meander in various directions. There is an abundance of stories and anecdotes but very little instruction. I only listened to the first 12 lectures before I decided that it was time to stop wasting my time. Dr. Brown criticizes the church for having too many rules - a sentiment that I agree with - but is a little too judgmental about it. The major drawback is the lack of structure and the fact that 90% of the time is personal stories. If someone has extra time on their hands, count how many time in one lecture Dr. Brown uses the word "I".

I did not register for the course or read the assigned material.
This course is a synopsis of a seminar that Dr. Brown offers.
Dr. Brown is absolutely right that grace is a fundamental topic within Christianity; a sine qua non. He emphasizes how it is so common that believers miss out on that grace, just walking away from it. He implores his listeners to accept what is so freely given.
My primary concern with this course is that faithfulness is also a fundamental topic within Christianity; also a sine qua non. Dr. Brown never really discusses how to integrate grace and faithfulness. In my opinion, it is the inability to integrate these two elements that leads to antinomianism and legalism on the other hand.
