Description
The documentary traces the historic beginnings of Catholic schools in St. Louis from Bishop DuBourg’s invitation to Mother Rose Philippine Duchesne to establish the first school for girls in St. Charles, Missouri, and recounts the story of immigrant Catholics who sacrificed to build churches and schools that stand today. It is the story of bishops Rosati, Kenrick, Glennon and Ritter, who led the way in the desegregation of schools and the education of the poor and children with special needs. Facing the most daunting challenges, they succeeded in creating what has become the 7th largest Catholic school system in the United States.
