Description
In this course, Dr. Peterson will aid you in a gaining a broad knowledge of the historic developments within psychology and counseling practice. The listener is taught how to appreciate common grace insights within intellectual systems which are globally anti-Christian, while at the same providing a critique of anti-theistic thought. Dr. Peterson draws upon the traditional Reformed view of Scripture to show the Bible's importance and sufficiency for the Christian counselor's ministry.

Wishing for More
I did not register for the course or read the assigned material.
This is Dr. Peterson in his element. Every church leader, particularly pastors, will be required to help people with personal problems, i.e., to counsel people. This course provides a foundation of both secular and Biblical tools to help.
Unfortunately, this course is only an introduction or overview. I wish RTS had an entire series on this important subject. Also, the listener should remember that this kind of material cannot be mastered by listening only; it requires hands-on practice as well. This, of course, is a short-coming of the iTunes approach. However, even with these limitations, I’m better off having taken the class than before I took it.
