Description
The Literary House brought National Poetry Month to a dynamic close with a reading by fourth-time National Poetry Slam champion and National Book Award finalist Patricia Smith. Smith is the author of 2006’s Teahouse of the Almighty, which was selected as a National Poetry Series winner, and 2008’s Blood Dazzler, which features poems about Hurricane Katrina. She was also a featured guest at “Spoken Word Assembly,” a month-long spoken word and performance poetry workshop that the Literary House organized and inaugurated in the Spring of 2010 with 30 students at Kent County High School.
