Description
The 2009 films were judged based on their technique, style and content. First place was awarded to Jesse Berger for “The City Green.” Stephen Kahn’s “Going Away to War” took second place and for the second year in a row, Kyle Hilliard won third place. His winning video was entitled “Andre the Miniature.” The Film Studies program is made up of faculty from a variety of departments in the Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs. Although the emphasis of the minor is on the history, theory, and criticism of film and not hands-on training in film production, students are introduced to the basics of film craft, such as cinematography, mise-en-scene, and the principles of editing. The festival is sponsored by the Student Film Club, the Film Studies Program, the Department of English, and Cougar Activities Board.
