Description
Dr. D.A. Carson examines the doctrine of justification and soteriology in light of the New Perspective on Paul as put forth by E.P. Sanders, James Dunn, and N.T. Wright. Focusing on the impact of this teaching in historical interpretations and present day Christianity, Dr. Carson seeks to explain soteriology and justification in relation to ecclesiology through a careful exegesis of Romans 3.

Grateful for these lectures
Carson gives an honest critic of the new perspective. It was so refreshing to hear a Biblical approach to the dangers in the new approach. In the first two lectures Carson gives the history and foundation of the new perspective, and then in the final lecture he takes the time to exegete parts of Romans 3 that shows the implications the new perspective has on the gospel. I'm a 23 year old Bible college student, and this was one of the most helpful lectures I have heard on this subject. Many of my peers love the sound of the new perspective, but it is important to know that the new perspective is not dealing with peripheral doctrines of our faith, but the very core of what we believe.
