I benefit as much as I can digest

These lectures and their academic elevation of critical reading of scripture helps me to feel confident that there is something to be said and that at a very sharp thinking dissecting historicity and accuracy of text and message. While I admire the vocation and pray for more wisdom to the participants I can't stop wondering the efficacy of academic rigor in proclamation of the message.

For me the message when read and heard from the scriptures befall more on the heart of the subjects than it calls for their mental synthesis of reality around them. My experience is, and I'm not in academia, that the heart leads the mind than the other way around. At least in my proclamation of the gospel on my part I call for the heart instructing the mind. I could be dead wrong and I continue reading and listening for further instruction.

It is in this setting that I listen to these highly academic lectures, though only a laity. It clearly informs me of the type of paradigm I find myself in and calls me to account for it. Listening to the depth from which so familiar text are repositioned by these academicians as NTW and considering the honesty and dedication that goes with it I can only praise the Lord Jesus Christ and pray that he grants his defendants grace and wisdom.

As for me, I can only benefit as much as I can digest.
