The underrated Josie Cotton's second album has its standouts — "School Is In," "Way Out West," and "Jimmy Loves Maryann," which incite new wave sock hops and hip shaking — but too many tracks are bland and forgettable, which is quite a feat for such a promising vocalist. Despite a talented backup band, including Lindsey Buckingham on "Jimmy Loves Maryann," Prescott Niles, Don Heffington, and Geoff Workman, From the Hip falters.
