iRdesktop is a free Remote Desktop Client for Windows Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services), capable of natively using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) in order to view and control your Windows Desktop using your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

iRdesktop supports all Windows Versions that have support for Terminal Services respectively Remote Desktop Services out of the box.

You must know that Microsoft has removed Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services) from the Windows Home and Starter editions. In order to access those Windows systems with any RDP client you can install our alternative Terminal Services (Remote Desktop Services) solution called "Thinstuff XP/VS Terminal Server" (http://www.thinstuff.com/products/xpvs-server/). The good news is that iRdesktop users will get a big discount for a single-user XP/VS Terminal Server version which allows you to have 1 Remote Desktop connection in addition to your PC's console session even on Windows Home and Starter editions!

シンプルだが必要最低限の機能を持つRDPクライアント

とてもシンプルなRDPクライアントです。
safariのような複数セッション管理/ピンチ操作での拡大縮小/横画面表示ができ、
3Gネットワークでも快適な速度でリモート操作することができます。

色数は256色または24bitカラー、解像度はVGAからSXGAまで対応しているのに加え、
WindowsキーやCtr+Alt+Delキーの送信、ポート番号の変更も備えていて、
RDPクライアントとしては(個人的には)必要十分な機能を持っています。
Windows Vista/Server2008(TSゲートウェイには未対応)に接続できるのもいいですね。
webページのFAQも、動画付きで大変分かりやすく親切です。

参考までに、他の競合アプリと比較してあえてマイナス面を記述します。
これらの機能が必要無いのであれば、まずは本アプリを試用することをオススメします。
・音の出力は未対応(設定でサーバ側に出力することは可能)
・キーボードは半角英字のみ送信可能(日本語入力はサーバ側のIMEで制御可能)
・ステータスバーとツールバーが常に表示されるためフルスクリーン不可
・iPhone側のクリップボード(または逆)からのコピー&ペースト不可

もとがUNIX系OS用(iPhoneOSもUNIXですね)のソフトウェアで、
GNUライセンスに基づいてフリーで提供されていることから、
他のRDPクライアントが高額または機能制限のあるLite版が多い中で、
本アプリは無償で使用することができるのも素晴らしいと感じました。
