Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, December 28 | This is this year's last (regular) edition of Planet Waves FM. Here I recap some of what happened in 2011 and how far we've come in a year — from the Tucson shootings to Fukushima to Occupy — and how this is just a warmup for 2012. You'll get some hints about 2012 astrology, deepening the discussion of Uranus square Pluto. This is the 2012 aspect, part of the epochs of revolution that we've been describing for so long. For the song break, I reprise the song Fingers by Roxy Rawson, and take a look at her natal chart. Then I look at the super interesting current astrology, including Sun conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, and Mercury conjunct Pholus. All in all, this podcast might be a pleasant way to spend an hour, worth it entirely for Roxy. I've just looked at her website — she's raising money to mix and master her first CD. If you're someone in a position to help out — I am sure she would be most grateful for that. | 28 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, December 21 | Yes, it's just one year till the winter solstice of 2012 — that is, at least for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. The Sun enters Capricorn tonight (Dec. 22) at 12:30 am EST. Yes, it is winter where I sit — if you live in the Southern Hemisphere please don't be the Grinch Who Stole Winter Solstice. It's a big turning point in the year for us. If you would like to share your culture and open up your beautiful hemisphere to us Yankees up here in the north, send photos, your stories and tales of how you handle the opposition of the seasons in the context of so much astrological folklore being centered on places like England and Europe. We're curious what it's like down by you, and send some warmth to those of us who not only have short days but who also would freeze if we stood still for 20 minutes. As for what I get into — it looks like the euro got bailed out today, to the tune of half a trillion in cool cash (or about $670 billion), despite the Sun entering Capricorn square Uranus. This may seem trivial but it's a big deal because if the euro, or one too many countries in the Eurozone, or one too many banks there, goes belly-up, we've all got a big problem on our hands. I cover the New Moon on Saturday as well as give an overview of what I am up to with Revolution. Revelation. Reality Check. — the 2012 annual edition of Planet Waves. | 21 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, December 14 | Here is the latest recording in the "Top 5″ series on Planet Waves FM. It covers planets entering the water signs: Chiron in Pisces, Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio. This is an unusual amount of energy in the water signs, which is — first — calling attention to water. The process actually began last year. Chiron initiated this by arriving in Pisces within 24 hours of the BP oil spill in April of 2010. Neptune visited Pisces briefly in 2011, and will return to stay for more than 12 years in February 2012. Then Saturn arrives in Scorpio in Oct. 2012. The themes center around emotional awareness, healing and maturity, something that we tend to resist here in the land of Starbucks and Prozac. And we're going to need to take care of the water on the planet: protecting the oceans, banning fracking and making sure we drink enough water. | 14 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, December 7 | In the first half, I read and consider the chart of Saturday's total eclipse of the Moon in Gemini. This eclipse happens across Gemini/Sagittarius while both Mercury and Jupiter are in the process of stationing direct. I take a close look at the conjunction of Psyche and Apollo that is square the eclipse (prominently aspected, which brings out the message of these two asteroids). Then we take a song break, featuring the musical ensemble Girlyman. I am looking enviously at their tour schedule — they're playing Nashville tonight, then Decatur, then Durham, Asheville, Birmingham, McCook, NE and Looomis, NE. I don't see a NY or MA or PA on the list. Come north, Girlyman! We will feed you and read your charts and donate publicity photos if you want, and I have a fantastic luthier if you need your guitars adjusted. In the second half of the program I talk about what Robert Bly called "the sibling society" — that is, a society of non-adults who refuse to take responsibility for their lives and the culture around them. This is in the context of the Occupy movement. I read from a PBS interview with Bly from about 15 years ago. Here is the thing — Bly took some shit for what he said when the book came out, but his perspective has only been supported or even proven. If you're looking for the book, you can get it for less than a buck from Half.com. At the end of the podcast I mention a paper called Are Student Governments Obsolete? by Ray Glass, one the founders of SASU — the now-defunct Student Association of the State University of New York. Ray is a friend in spirit. He died when I was 11 years old but his work and his ideas have influenced my thinking, and I am happy to share a PDF of his paper on the Internet for the first time. | 7 12 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Butler, a previous guest on Planet Waves. | 30 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, November 23 | This week I describe our exciting week of astrology, which features Mercury stationing retrograde and an eclipse of the Sun, as well as our current moment wherein the Sun has just entered Sagittarius and is making all kinds of aspects to big planets. I sort through this astrology with you, and then look at the accompanying world events — much of which has been focused on the Occupy movement and most recently, the UC Davis OC gas (pepper spray) incident that is shaping consciousness right now. | 23 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, November 16 | Our current astrology is happening in two dimensions — many planets aspecting centaurs (Pholus, Chiron, Nessus) and then the Sun square Neptune. One is a wake up influence, the other is a fog over influence. Which one will win the day? There are other clues. Mars in Virgo is also saying pay attention to the details. Mars will be retrograde in Virgo fairly soon. In this edition, I also decode some current news events, including the Penn State scandal. The fans there are experiencing a deep struggle in coming to grips with the truth about the coaching staff there; the centaur planets are working to shift us to another level of consciousness. I also get into the Republican requirement of from its candidates, and the Occupy movement. Over 200 people were arrested yesterday when police broke up the New York Occupy encampment. Protesters have had two months to occupy the park with tents and sleeping bags. Now they will have to occupy the space with the power of their arguments." We'll see what the astrology has to say about that. | 16 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, November 9 | This edition of Planet Waves FM covers looks at the Full Moon square Nessus — which relates to the theme of sexual abuse and scandal, and how this impacts our lives personally. I begin with a brief description of my process doing the charts for the 2012 annual edition, and then pretty soon, get into the Full Moon. The news developments this week match the energy of this event beautifully — and it's up to us where we take it from here. | 9 11 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, October 26 | This is the Scorpio New Moon edition of Planet Waves FM. My guest is CT Butler, one of the world's leading minds on the theme of conflict resolution and consensus, who is talking about Occupy Wall Street's leadership challenges and how he is working to inform the movement of a formal consensus process as opposed to a casual one. That's in the second half of the program. In the first half of the program, I talk about the New Moon chart, and the many aspects that are happening right now, most of which involves Scorpio and its ruling planets; or Pisces and its ruling planets. Then I talk about the chart for the Occupy Wall Street movement. Monday, The Mountain Astrologer posted a guest column by me about that chart, set for Sept. 17 in New York City. This is a chart that's all about a message — to the chagrin of those who would accuse the protest movement of having none. It's so obvious that you cannot miss it unless you are determined to. Our musical guest is Seth Davis, with a song called "LA Burning" from his CD Prettier than Blue. Seth is a friend from New Paltz, the co-creator of Karma Road, a vegan café. I just love this song — notice the horn solo about two minutes in. Can you tell what instrument that is? It almost sounds like a trombone. Then the interview with CT — much of the conversation involves consensus process and how this relates to the usual American way of thinking. CT has a lot of perspective on activism; it's been his career since a young age. At the end of the interview, CT describes his plan to do a kind of Consensus Tour 2012. He's looking for sponsors and participants. If you would like to reach him, you can find him easily via his website, consensus.net, which lists his contact information. | 26 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, October 19 | In this edition of Planet Waves FM, I look at the current astrology, which involves a Sun-Juno conjunction in Libra — an aspect that is asking some questions about our concept of marriage. I include a discussion of Juno as an astrological factor, as well as some approaches to what it tells us about ourselves. In the second half of the podcast (starting at 30 minutes in) I explore the concept of healing — one of the most misunderstood ideas there is. This is a follow-up on last week's discussion with Elisa Novick and offer some of my thoughts about healing process, what a healer is, and how to work with one. I suggest we go beyond seeing a healer as someone with magic powers, or the ability to fix us with their technology, and look at them a someone who holds space and facilitates our process. Toward the middle of the program, I mention a CD, called My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. This is a masterpiece of found art, an experimental collaboration based on random sounds and assembled with composition by two of my favorite Tauruses, Brian Eno and David Byrne. If you haven't tuned into the solo work of either of these two composers, you're in for a treat. This is their first collaboration (as composers — Eno had produced Talking Heads for years). They recently came out with a second one, called Everything that Happens Will Happen Today. These guys are not really musicians — they are artists who happen to express themselves through music (both are excellent painters as well). | 19 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, October 12 | Greetings. This edition of Planet Waves FM features an interview with Elisa Novick. I would describe Elisa as a master healer — words I don't use very often or speak lightly. The longer I know Elisa, and the more I work with her and learn from her, the better I understand what that means. I spent an evening with her Monday at her home in Great Barrington, MA, speaking with her about what she does and how she does it. You will hear things in this discussion that are definitely out of the ordinary, but — as I prefer to keep all matters of a spiritual nature — eminently practical. She is someone who works on a planetary level but also serves groups and individuals. Anyone who aspires to this kind of work would benefit from hearing from her. I give a brief overview of the week's astrology at the top of the program, then I quickly move on to the conversation. The whole program is about one hour and 15 minutes, without a music break. If you would like to contact Elisa, you can reach her through her website, ThrivingPlanet.org. She mentions a Tree Play workshop, which will be held near Rhinebeck, NY on Saturday, Oct. 29, and this is open to anyone who is interested. | 12 10 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, September 28 | This week's edition looks at the Libra New Moon square Pluto, and describes in a new way how the 2012 aspect works — and why it's influencing us now. We've covered this aspect in daily editions the past few days, so I've given most of this week's program to an interview with Leslie Carol Botha, the outreach person for SaneVax.org. This is the organization that has been exposing the many problems with Gardasil. It's a perfect match for the subject matter of planets square Pluto because it broaches on a conversation that would normally be shrouded in taboo and mystery (attributes of Pluto). This program will be of special interest to teenagers and their parents. Please give it a listen. The problems with Gardasil (and related HPV vaccines) are so serious they cannot be ignored. The conversation describes how sensitive young women are when they are beginning their menstrual cycles, and how this is the worst possible time to inflict the hormone damage that is one result of this series of injections. | 28 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, September 21 | Here is your podcast — it covers the death penalty and the equinox chart. I'll write an introduction in the morning. From what I am seeing on CNN and MSNBC, the Supreme Court has not acted — Georgia has the execution hold but could proceed if it wanted. My understanding of how these death penalty cases pan out when they get to the court, individual justices are assigned to regions of the country. However, if that justice is unavailable or if that justice wants to defer to a larger discussion, they may do so. I don't know which justice is assigned to Georgia, which is in the 11th circuit of the federal courts. The truth is that the ways of the Supreme Court are somewhat mysterious. Update – Reuters and others are reporting that the Supreme Court denied a stay of execution. The matter went to Clarence Thomas, who is the circuit justice for this circuit. He referred it to the full court and Davis did not get the five votes that he deeded. It looks like the execution will go ahead. | 21 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Thursday, September 15 | In this week's edition of Planet Waves FM, I look at Venus entering Libra, which is the chart I used for the horoscope in tomorrow's edition of Planet Waves. Venus is making a lot of aspects as she moves through the first few degrees of Libra, including a conjunction to Typhon (the planet named for the god of storms), an opposition to Uranus and a square to Pluto. That's a lot of aspects for sensitive, complex Venus. This involves Uranus square Pluto, the 2012 aspect. We're going to keep getting new experiences of this all the time; Venus making an opposition to Uranus and then a square to Pluto over the next few days is a good example. Venus opposite Uranus feels like a relationship experience, and then the subsequent square to Pluto feels deep and introspective. I also preview the aspect that will be the subject of Friday's subscriber article — Pholus conjunct Hylonome. Speaking of that kind of deep cultural stuff, I wrap up my discussion of 9/11 for now. This includes a visit from Dick Cheney, who was portrayed brilliantly last night on the Daily Show. This is must-see, if you have any fetish at all for Mr. Evil. If you are a student of Jon Stewart's pregnant pause approach to comedy, there are some juicy ones. This short segment is featured on the cover of The Daily Show site at the moment (you may have to look for it if you're reading this Friday or later, but the segment is called The Humanization of Dick Cheney). Note a correction, Cheney did appear as a guest on MSNBC, on Morning Joe. One last topic, that I think takes about half an hour — HPV and Gardasil. This is just an introduction to an issue I've been following for more than 20 years, but it's timely now because Michele Bachmann claimed that the vaccination caused mental retardation in one of her out-of-district constituents. Bachmann came under fire from both the 'left' and the 'right' for her position, which was apparently anti-corporate and anti-science at the same time. However, she is right, if not specifically correct in this instance. I reference two webpages in this discussion: The Truth About Gardasil site (don't miss the video at the bottom), and then an editorial that appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2009 — the best thing I've ever read about HPV or the vaccine. I will come back to this issue, sooner if I hear from my listeners with their personal experiences. HPV is a significant issue in that it will affect from half to 90% of all sexually active people at least once. Yet the medical information is all over the map, contradictory and driven by marketing and profits. If you're curious about how this relates to politics, CNN has actually covered the issue today. Amazing. | 15 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Thursday, September 8 | The new edition of Planet Waves FM is done. I wanted to see the new film Explosive Evidence, created by Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth before doing my first podcast on Sept. 11 for the 10th anniversary. I describe the film in this edition, focusing on the last section — interviews with psychologists explaining why so many people refuse to see the obvious. In this edition, I reference a few articles. One is called Were It So, from March 2002. This is the first article I wrote deconstructing the official story of 911, which was based on one photo taken on Sept. 14. I will be looking more closely at this image in tomorrow's subscriber edition. I also mention an article called Sept. 11, 1984, which gives a basic examination of the Sept. 11 chart. I conclude today's edition with a similar discussion; you can see it in black and white on that page. More recently, I wrote a piece called History, Turning on a Phrase, which takes apart the situation with 7 World Trade Center — the third skyscraper that fell on Sept. 11, despite not being hit by an airplane. Explosive Evidence spends an hour on WTC 7, discussing how the steel melted and the building fell at free fall speed, despite the only damage being from some small office fires and debris striking the structure — not enough to make it fall down at all, much less collapse in its own footprint. But at the heart of the matter of Sept. 11 is why we believe or don't believe what is presented to us. The whole incident relates to our worldview; that is, how we see Sept. 11 is evidence of how we see the world around us, and what we believe about the world. That is the theme I do my best to develop in this edition, and with your help will continue next week. | 8 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, August 24 | Today's edition of Planet Waves FM is an interview with Porter Eichenlaub, a young world-traveler who describes his process of working with mentors and creating and finding other forms of education and service. More and more young people are figuring out that this is a really good way to approach life — if you have some passion, ethics and a little discipline. This is an interview that can only speak for itself, but I've created this particular edition for young people, their friends and their parents, to provide some ideas for how to grow into adulthood and professional life that don't require going $100,000 into debt — and that might work better. I know it would seem hard to top last week's interview with C.T. Butler, a senior statesman of the American activist scene; think of Porter as one of the up-and-coming engineers of global redesign. At the end of the conversation, I do a reading of his chart. By the way — I mention a broadcast from 1969 that reminded me a lot of Porter (though he's a bunch more focused and self-directed) done by the journalist Howard K. Smith. This is a priceless news artifact, telling the story of the Beat Generation, re-posted by our friends over at Crooks and Liars from their "newstalgia" collection. You may already know of this one — it's called The Cool Rebellion, wherein the Beatniks question the materialistic values of their parents in the context of how unhappy the prior generation seems to be. | 24 8 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, August 10 | In today's edition of Planet Waves FM, I look at Mars setting off the cardinal cross (currently square Uranus and opposite Pluto), as well as the Epoch of Revolution aspect Uranus square Pluto. When we reach one of these movements, we seem to have less to lose, and more to gain by experimenting, flexibility and not honoring the old, intractable and boring way of doing things. We might be feeling some instability — and that is the invitation to explore. The revolutionary activity — mainly the personal revolution in your own consciousness — is being set off by this weekend's Full Moon in Aquarius. I also cover how Mercury retrograde is influencing all this adventure. In the second segment I talk to Liz DiNovella, the cultural editor of The Progressive, who was on the scene of one of the recall elections yesterday in Wisconsin. For our musical guest, I reprise the Grateful Dead one more week, extending Jerry Garcia's birthday celebration. | 10 8 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Thursday, July 28 | This edition of Planet Waves FM looks up close and personal at the Capricorn Full Moon, which takes place Friday. This is a very, very interesting Full Moon — I really mean it this time. The Sun and Moon align exactly with a slow-moving aspect we've been talking about — Varuna square Eris. The thing about your Varuna square Eris kind of aspect is 1) you can't look it up in a book and 2) no matter how significant these newly-discovered outer planets are, the aspect is going to seem like it's in the background right up until it's lit up in the blazing light of the Full Moon — and that's what's happening right now. In today's podcast, I look at the Rupert Murdoch / News Corp scandal, and the utter insanity going on in Washington DC in the form of the Tea Baggers (far right wing Republicans) pushing the United States government to the brink of financial default, which if it happens could set off a lot of problems. In the second half of the program, I look at how Murdoch's chart lines up with that of News of the World, the weekly that he shut down Sunday. Our musical guest this week is the acclaimed Emma's Revolution, described by our friends at Z Magazine as, "Beyond progressive commentary, Emma's Revolution examines issues of our time the way the media should." Pete Seeger once said, "This record is part of the worldwide revolution which will save this planet…these songs you'll find yourself singing for the rest of your life." Gee whiz! Anyway you can hear them on Planet Waves FM. | 28 7 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, July 27 | In this edition of Planet Waves FM, I look at the issues surrounding the debt ceiling battle that really amounts to an economic and political power grab: a kind of false flag collapse of the economy. It's happened before — the banking crash of 2008 was both avoidable and intentional, and many people profited to a degree that the public has no concept of. There are several theories about what's happening at the moment, one of the most cohesive coming from one of our commenters who is fairly close to the action. By any analysis, the conduct of legislators in Washington ranges from irresponsible and deceitful to blatantly insane; and while Obama is doing his best to maintain his public image, he is offering up Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to the flesh-eating monster of the conservative movement. I briefly discuss the Oslo attacks but I don't discuss the chart. I have a few comments about Amy Winehouse and what an extraordinary chart she had — unfortunately time did not permit. I cover this in a streamlined, one-hour program featuring musical guests the Grateful Dead. Monday would be the 69th birthday of Jerry Garcia, so we have two hot folk-blues numbers for you, lovingly selected from a pretty good collection. | 27 7 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Today's recording is about 48 minutes. The first third is about current astrology and about two-thirds is devoted to the nuclear issue. | 27 4 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Planet Waves FM - Eric Francis Astrology, Wednesday, April 13 | This week, I share the Planet Waves podcast space with Gary Caton. Visiting from Ashville, Gary travels under the handle Dream Astrologer, and is currently doing a teaching tour in the Northeast. We talk about very nearly everything in this 55 minute, 44 second recording. Errata: I meant Three Mile Island not Indian Point, and in Eastern Time and many other zones, the Libra Full Moon is Sunday night, not Saturday night. | 13 4 11 | Free | View In iTunes |
