Andere stijl, toch typisch MGMT

Laten we dit even rechtzetten, als je een album vol springerige en melodieuze popmuziek à la Kids en Time To Pretend op zoek bent, hier zul je het echt niet vinden. Dit album is een stuk donkerder, zwaarder en heeft andere invloeden wat voor een compleet andere sound zorgen. Fans van hun singles zullen dit misschien niet waarderen, maar de mensen die van psychelische muziek houden mogen deze zeker niet aan hun voorbij laten gaan!
Ik heb er zelf erg van genoten, al was het de eerste luisterbeurt wel eventjes wennen.

... and cannot live up to the expectations. But also without high expectations this is a mediocre to sometimes bad album.

A great new direction

I liked the "darker" songs on Oracular Spectacular and am very pleased that Congratulations heads further into that territory. I'm not into "happy" songs like "Electric Feel", and on this album "Brian Eno" isn't for me. But I love "I found a whistle", "Lady Dada's Nightmare" and "Siberian Breaks" is the best track of the album, IMHO. A rock solid album, definitely worth the modest €8 price tag.
