Albumrecensie

LeFT knows how to rock, and the songs contained on My Disease are equal parts aggression and emotion, yet as a band they still have plenty of room to grow. LeFT is on Medea Records, which is a smaller independent label that was once home to Factory 81, a band who has since found some moderate success in the alternative metal genre. My Disease follows along that similar line, yet there are noticeable traces of melody à la Taproot weaved among the aggro riffs on constant display courtesy of guitarist Dan Schlicker. One of the most promising songs on My Disease is "Sore," which gradually builds with slow, brooding passion into a moderately heavy masterpiece that highlights the disc. When the band allows themselves the time to mold a song, they succeed with leaps and bounds, yet their shorter tracks, unfortunately, are overshadowed by these lengthy predecessors. This makes for an album that at times feels like it's missing something, yet with time and some practice, these five men will be able to achieve great things. Other standout songs include "Insecurity" and the brutal honesty of "Making Friends With Suicide." My Disease is a solid rapcore-tinged alternative metal album which showcases a group who could very well be the next big thing as long as they focus on their music and tighten their musical skills. ~ Jason D.
