HIT THE GROUND RUNNING
One of our goals was to create a writing app without settings. When opening Writer, all you can do is write. The only option you have is full screen (⌘+CTRL+F) and FocusMode (⌘+D).
FOCUS MODE (patent pending)
It's a common pattern, that, instead of following the voice and fleshing out the text in one go, people start editing before the text is done. In Focus Mode (⌘+D) you write one sentence at a time.
If you ever get caught in one of those moments, where the big white empty window scares you or when you get stuck in the middle of a text: try Focus Mode.
AUTO MARKDOWN
Auto Markdown will help you to format texts without letting off your keyboard. Auto Markdown automatically formats the Markdown language. It's easy. You can learn it in 30 seconds.
To increase the pleasure of writing is exactly what we intended when creating Writer. A better tool doesn't make a better craftsman, but a good tool makes working a pleasure.

What a relief!
I write a lot, seven books, hundreds of newsletters… I wonder why I never found this app a long time ago. It is such a joy and it saves so much energy. Writing in this app is a relief! I rarely recommend an app, but for this one I take the time to recommend it. Well done guys!
Beetje teleurgesteld
Na de lovende recensies wilde ik wel de gok wagen om voor een gering bedrag deze app te kopen. Ik tik namelijk veel en het principe van eenvoud spreekt / sprak me aan. Toegegeven, ik ben pas een minuut of 10 bezig met de App, maar het gaat dan ook om mijn eerste indruk. Die indruk is dat de App me iets tegenvalt. Vette letters krijg ik alleen vet te zien met zowel links als recht van dat vette woord één of twee sterretjes en dat is idem dito met onderstreepte woorden.
Ook snap ik bij lijsten / opsommingen niets van de inspringing van de regels na een ENTER-commando. Ik zie de logica niet en bij een eenvoud hoort in mijn optiek ook begrijpelijkheid van het gedrag van de App.
Pluspunt is inderdaad de volstrekt minimalistische interface die alleen maar aandacht vraagt voor dat onderdeel van de tekst waarmee je bezig bent.
Goede schrijfervaring
In de eerste instantie knapte ik af op de beperkte exportfunctie, maar ik probeerde het toch om de app een kans te geven. Ik moet zeggen dat het achterliggende idee van de focus op het schrijven verrassend goed werkt. Het is inderdaad alsof je de woorden de kans geeft om uit je hoofd te stromen, waar de eenvoudige omgeving en de vervagende achterliggende zinnen (in de focus mode) optimaal aan bijdragen. Het legt de nadruk op het creatieve proces. Het heeft zijn nut om dit te scheiden van het redigeerwerk, dat je soms onwillekeurig tijdens het schrijven doet. Overigens, om de continuïteit in het verhaal te waarborgen, is het mogelijk om onder het schrijven te scrollen, waarbij de tekst weer naar zwart springt om alles na te kunnen lezen. Begin je dan weer te typen, dan komt de focus modus weer op gang. Ik maak me verder niet druk om de beperkte opmaak - en exportmogelijkheden: je kunt het textbestand immers importeren in willekeurig welk opmaak - of tekstverwerkingsprogramma. Dit programma ontleent zijn kracht primair aan de ruimte die het biedt om te creëren.
