Get this album
It contains strong songs, vocals and musicianship. Interesting arrangements and instrumentations, best songs: In Chains and Perfection. They represent the outer poles of TerraeX, The calm, laid back and pretty contra the hard, in your face stuff. Great :)
Somnia!
TERRAEX is the name of a new band coming from Norway, strongly led by Carlos SANCHEZ (Bass, guitar, keyboards, percussion and programming...). Our latin viking is helped here by Maria TORESEN (Vocals, piano & violin), Gunvar WIE (Drums) and Andrea UMMARINO (Guitar). This is quite unusual for a first album, but "Somnia" (Musea Parallèle, 2009) already has its own musical identity. You may think of SIGUR ROS, GOLDFRAPP, RADIOHEAD or Tori AMOS, for compositions as diverse as they are pleasant to listen to. The opus mixes grungy, raucousand aggressive electric guitars with airy female vocals, acoustic and melodious sequences with heavy ones. It even mixes reggae and rock on one track ! These eleven songs include many Progressive rock elements into their energic sound, Mellotron and analog keyboards layers for instance. And, more than everything else, it's powerful rock, with an organic and spontaneous feel, and beautiful vocals.
