Biography

Well known for their theatrical live performances, Norwegian electro-pop group Casiokids released a series of critically acclaimed singles on Moshi Moshi Records during the late 2000s. Founded in 2005 in Bergen, Norway, the group is comprised of Einar Olsson, Fredrik Øgreid Vogsborg, Ketil Kinden Endresen, Kjetil Bjøreid Aabø, Matias Monsen, and Omar N'Dur. They cite influences that include New Order, Paul Simon (Graceland in particular), Fela Kuti, King Tubby, Cornelius, Gorillaz, and Liquid Liquid. Casiokids made their full-length album debut in 2006 with Fück Midi on Karisma Records. A series of singles on Moshi Moshi Records during the late 2000s garnered initial critical acclaim for the group, however, particularly in the United Kingdom. The singles included "Grønt Lys I Alle Ledd" b/w "Togens Hule" (2008), "Finn Bikkjen!" b/w "Gomurmamma" (2009), and "Verdens Störste Land" b/w "Fot I Hose" (2009). The group, now made up of Endresen, Øgreid Vogsborg, Bjøreid Aabø, and Omar Emanuel Johnsen, returned with the album Topp Stemning På Lokal Bar in the summer of 2010. After receiving large amounts of praise for the album, the band was further rewarded to the tune of one million kroner, which was given to them by fellow countrymen a-ha as one of the four most promising Norwegian musical acts currently operating. Casiokids returned in the fall of 2011 with their second album Aabenbaringen Over Aaskammen.
