Album Review

The original soundtrack to Ridley Scott's Gladiator features an original score composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer and Golden Globe nominee and former Dead Can Dance member Lisa Gerrard. The duo's dramatic music incorporates traditional orchestral elements, ancient and indigenous instruments, and Gerrard's haunting vocals to create a timeless and evocative backdrop for Scott's tale of an avenging gladiator in ancient Rome.

This is an awesome album. I loved the movie and I love the music that goes with it. The best movie soundtrack album I have ever heard. I purchased this album as soon as it came out. Never get tired of listening to it. Very moving music..sit back, relax and take yourself back to the time and place of the Gladiator's... Imagine yourself a Roman Soldier in heart of a battle.. or a Gladiator fighting in the Arena.

Composer Hans Zimmer was born September 12, 1957 in Frankfurt, Germany; after relocating to London as a teen, he later wrote advertising jingles for Air-Edel Associates, and in 1980 collaborated with the Buggles on their LP The Age of Plastic and its accompanying hit "Video Killed the Radio Star." A stint with Ultravox followed before Zimmer next surfaced with the Italian avant-garde group Krisma; he then formed a partnership with film composer Stanley Myers, and together they founded the London-based...
