Ratings and Reviews
Was working well until the last update
Then it went buggy. I’ve been using this app for years and would have rated 5 stars. But…
The book closes when I close the app (it didn’t before) and it can be random where it reopens the next time, rarely on the page I was reading. The bookmark isn’t staying put after I close the app so I still have to scroll through to find the page. The settings can change randomly. The swipe with two fingers to the next chapter no longer works. If they fix these issues I will review my rating.

App needs work
Worst problem is that there aren’t enough speed options. If you spend half your life listening to audiobooks like I do being able to vary the speed depending on the story, the reader, the quality of the book is crucial. The Kobo app goes from 1.0 speed then jumps to 1.25. then 1.5. Clearly the people who designed the app have never listened to audiobooks!
Secondly the file size is far far too big. 1.3 GB for a 9 hour book is nuts. On Audible the file size would be less than a quarter of that. I’ve had to delete things off my phone because kobo tells me it doesn’t have enough space. Using the app was an extremely frustrating experience.
Otherwise I appreciate the range of books, including some titles Audible does not have due to the maddening and bizarre world of global copyright which which is frustrating when you’re happy to pay for a book but you can’t access it easily.
Great app, but…
I read a lot and love Kobo Plus, but the app will jump to the next chapter if there is only a little text on the last page. Not sure how many lines are missed, but you are usually able to get the gist. It’s a niggle, slowly turning into an annoyance
