#06 – IndiE3 | With E3 over now the two girls take a look at some of their favorite titles revealed in the big announcements, both indie and otherwise. The adventure game giveaway announced in last week's episode comes to an end with more discussion about a few new adventure titles that have been released this week, including the new Jolly Rover adventure game by Andrew Goulding that was chosen as our One Game Pick. In addition we have another giveaway, so tune in to find out how you could win! Of course, several new games were released on the various digital distribution networks, with Dogfighter, Vizati, and Eversion HD all three seeing releases. Aside from these great games to pursue, the Indie Games Magazine recently got an overhaul and the girls discuss the new look as well as Overlord Ror's contributions to the magazine. The IndieDB.com was announced this past week and 2 Girls 1 Game is featured prominently on the site with our own group. If you're interested in showing us support, you can join the site and either track or join our group in order to boost our popularity there. Our announcements here and there will be the same, but the IndieDB.com group will only receive announcements regarding new episode releases, whereas our website will feature new releases and written reviews for games that we enjoy. Our winner for this week's contest was iLag, who had a very profound knowledge of adventure games that was illustrated throughout all of his comments. Enjoy your copy of The Whispered World, iLag! To carry through with the give away spirit, we have another give away for you awesome folks. The Humble Indie Bundle was a few weeks ago, but Mahkia and I purchased an additional copy to give away on the show. If you're interested, listen and post your comment for a chance at winning six great games. As previously mentioned, our One Game Pick this week is Jolly Rover, a great adventure game by Andrew Goulding that you can check out on Steam. It has achievements as well as Steam Cloud support with an awesome pirate-y story and great voicework and artwork to match. If you're a big fan of adventure games, this is one game you won't want to miss. Check out these screenshots below, or go and give Andrew your support by purchasing the game! | 6/23/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

#05 – ADVENTURE! | This week is all about adventure games, with the girls exploring Erin Robinson's newest creation, Puzzle Bots, as well as a few other top notch adventure games that have been released recently. In addition to great adventure games, the girls take a look at some of the great games that have been released on Steam since their hiatus, with several that are definitely worth purchasing. First up is the amazing P.B. Winterbottom which saw its debut on the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 points. Steam users can obtain the magic of a pie pilfering portly gentlemen and his paradox portals for only $4.99, cheaper than picking it up on 360. Best of all, it has achievements and if you think we didn't gush over it enough in the episode, you can check out Overlord Ror's review of the game right here. Aside from Winterbottom, the indie section on Steam has been quite busy lately, with several releases from the Blitz1Up group. The most notable of these is KrissX which is a fun little game that saw its release on 360 first. Aside from KrissX, you can also find Fluttabyes and Mole Control available as well. All three of these titles start at $4.99 which means if you love puzzling casual games, you should definitely download the demos and check them out. For the fans of fast paced action and massive robots, Plain Sight and Booster Trooper are both available. Both retail for only $9.99 and have pretty interesting gameplay. Think of Plain Sight as robot ninjas fighting before mass suicide, and Booster Trooper as an indie version of Bionic Commando. The games each have their own niche, but you should definitely check them out if you enjoy side scrolling shooters or third person attack shooters. Aside from the latest Steam releases, there have been some interesting developments in the world of indie. Filmmakers James Swirsky & Lisanne Pajot have started an ambitious project that aims to showcase the world of indie development. Indie Game: The Movie is a documentary that aims to chronicle the lives of indie developers as they practice their craft, with an interesting take on how developers like Edmund McMillen go from a rough draft of an idea to a finished game like Gish or the upcoming Super Meat Boy. The interesting thing about the project is that it has been entirely funded from donations from those who want to see the project come to life via Kickstarter. Kickstarter lets project creators ask for funding and offer said rewards for users who have donated to bring the project to life. The Indie Movie project was fully funded in only two days and still has around 45 days for donors who want to get in on funding or receive a copy of a DVD of the movie to do so. A taste of the movie can be seen below, with a developer interview with Edmund McMillen. For those interested in taking part of the project, you can join Kickstarter and pledge a donation using your credit card. Since the theme of this week's episode has been adventure games, GamersGate has graciously donated a copy of The Whispered World of us to give away to our loyal listeners. If you're interested in obtaining a copy of the game, have a listen to this week's episode to find out the entry details. The winner of this week's giveaway will be announced on next week's episode, so stay tuned! Adventure is the name of the game in this episode and aside from discussing some of the greatest new adventure games available like Ceville and Puzzle Bots, we had a chance to check out The Whispered World, developed by Daedalic Entertainment. The lush hand drawn environments are absolutely gorgeous and the humor of the game is work checking out, so if you have been on the fence about this one, or you are a fan of adventure games and you're looking for something new to play, definitely check it out! | 6/13/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

#04 – Fcukin’ Flamingos | We're back after taking a break for zombie Jesus Day and Overlord Ror hurdling headlong toward the grave another year at a time, this time to discuss a great mixture of games and even one sent in from a fan! Thanks, Mumbles! The Indie Fund has been looming over our heads since it was announced shortly before IGF, with many people wondering exactly what it is supposed to accomplish. We discuss how it is a better funding option for indies, and hopefully we'll see a great number of indie games funded. Toki Tori gets a bit of air time with us as we look into the bonus levels offered by Two Tribes for becoming a member of their official Steam group. The game is completely different on all three platforms, but for those of you who own it on Steam and are looking forward to more platforming fun, join their Steam group for more great levels. Each time they reach a membership milestone, you're helping! The D.R.O.D. games are finally available on Impulse as well, with the last in the series, The City Beneath, being one Overlord Ror had a hand in helping create, if only slightly. You should definitely check them out if you love puzzle strategy games, and the unique mix of humor is something sure to please. After all, stabbing roaches and eyeballs all day with a really big sword is any kid's dream. Our One Game Pick for this week is Flotilla, by Blendo Games. Brendon Chen is a one man show with this one, with his previous release Gravity Bone seeing great success among the indie community. This is actually on my list to review for Gamer Limit, so once the review has been posted, I'll have a link here. Suffice to say, it's a nice mix between an adventure game with tactical strategy elements that anyone should love. The humor is also second to none, with space flamingos, toucans, cats, and of course, Afrodite being present to either help or hinder you on your journey. The music direction is absolutely lovely, since the entire score is classical music and there is nothing more satisfying than blowing apart your enemies in space to a classical score. If you'd like to check out Flotilla, you can get it directly from Brendon on the Blendo Games website here, or if you are a console lover, you can check it out on the indie games section for only 400 MS points, since the game has been released for 360 as well. It's only $10, so check it out and let us know what you think! We loved it, and you probably will too. | 4/14/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

#03 – Something Western | This week the girls are joined by Mårten Stormdal and Staffan Ahlström of Fatshark to discuss their latest Wild West shooter, Lead & Gold. We also have a look at Eskil Steenberg's newly released not so massively multiplayer MMO Love and discuss a bit of our experiences while playing the game in beta. We've also got some great indie deals for you that don't expire until March 31st, so check it out! Love is an interesting game because the servers are designed to handle only 400 people. When compared to massive servers like World of Warcraft that can hold over 5,000, it's easy to understand why Love is considered a not so massively multiplayer game. However, don't let the small server size daunt you, the visuals are extremely gorgeous and for just $13.50, you can take part in something beautiful. Check out these recently released screenshots to see what I'm talking about: It's an entirely great game that was developed over a period of years by one person and is deserving of your support. Eskil has provided a TeamSpeak server for players as well, so you can jump in and talk to him about the game, as well as other regulars. They're all great people, so don't hesitate to check it out and tell them we sent you! Our one game pick for this week was of course, Lead & Gold. It's currently available for pre-order from Steam for $13.49 and if you pick it up before April 8th, you'll get access to the beta, which is what both Mahkia and myself have been playing. The guys and gals at Fatshark have been wonderfully receptive to feedback, which is something I always like to see in a development team. If you're still not sold on the game after listening to the interview, then you should probably check out these screenshots, as always, pictures speak louder than words. As you can see, it's a beautiful game that is worthy of your attention if you love team-based shooters like Team Fortress 2 or Battlefield. Rambo tactics don't work in this game and always remember to pick up your team-mates, since XP is the name of the game for ranks. That's it for this week, we'll see you next week with more great indie gaming news, deals, and features! | 3/28/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

#02 – Pandora’s Xbox | This week the girls have a look at several different titles that are making their way to the Xbox LIVE Arcade, including a few of the IGF finalists discussed last week. We also have a look at numerous brand new titles from Paradox Interactive, including Mount & Blade: Warband and Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West. As well as a great discussion sparked by an article on DIYGamer.com on what the Xbox Indie Platform can do to improve itself. Our 1 Game Pick for the week was Spelunky, created by Derek Yu of Mossmouth games. It's a great Game Maker game with a simple premise, yet you'll be hard pressed to get to the end in just one play session. Here's a look at the game with a bit of commentary by Overlord Ror. Aside from our one game pick, there were a few other games we talked about during the show. Here are links to their respective sites: Kaleidoscope by Morsel (Overlord Ror's Review) A Perfect Massage by R3dDr4g0n Aztaka by Citeremis Studios (Overlord Ror's Review) Mount & Blade: Warband by Tale Worlds Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West Leave Home by Hermit Games That's it! If you have any questions or comments on the show, please feel free to email us at mail(a)2girls1game.com, or send us a tweet with your game suggestions and comments to @2girls1game. #01 – Welcome to Rapture | The 2 girls explore the Independent Games Festival and the winners of each category while having too much fun along the way. The new private beta of Desura was released and we have a look at that, with our thoughts on the interface and a bit of discussion concerning the target audience. We also have a look at a series of free indie games on the Game A Day blog, updated daily for your pleasure, in addition to great indie deals across the web. These are the links to the IGF Student Showcase finalists, all playable online for your pleasure. Boryokudan Rue Continuity Devils Tuning Fork Dreamside Maroon Student Version Igneous Paper Cakes Puddle Puzzle Bloom Spectre Ulitsa Dimitrova The indie deal of the week we discussed on the show was Cogs, which is valid until Monday, March 15th. Also, they make me feel like a pimp, they played L4D2 with me!
Informative and fun.
With all the corporate money behind video games nowadays it's easy to miss some truly amazing releases. 2G1G cuts out the garbage and gives you and honest sampling of what games are available and makes them easier to find. I look forward to hearing more.
