094 Finding your Voice “Jonathan Spinks: Fighting – for a change.” | Shifting his bike into the highest gear possible, he cranked back on the accelerator, hunched his body downward, and, with all the force the machine could generate, the undefeated prize fighter let it fly forward at 100-plus miles per hour. Unstoppable in his chosen profession, as a stray car found its way into his lane of traffic, he would be no match for the head-to-head meeting that was about to take place. Regaining consciousness in a hospital room, lucky to be alive, Jonathan knew he needed to make big changes in his life; he just didn't know how. You see for him, moving at an unreasonable rate of speed was, up until now, how he lived. As a successful fighter, he was living the high life and enjoying the spoils that went with it: cars, boats, houses, clothes, etc. In was during his most vulnerable moment that a man walked into his recovery room and made him a promise: If you do exactly what I say, your life can be completely transformed. Not yet a believer, Jonathan didn't understand what the man meant as he talked about God and Jesus, however, he did know the meaning of the word "transformed". He also knew that that was exactly what he needed. And, as Jonathan repeated the words spoken by his new friend, the transformation began to take place. Knock-out puncher Jonathan Spinks joins us on today's show and shares the pretty and the not-so-pretty moments in his journey. By accepting Christ and learning how to be a winner outside the ring, his passion and mission is to teach others how to do the same. His OSU Tour is dedicated to helping soldiers find life in Christ. Learn more about Nathan. The son he lost to brain cancer. Invite Jonathan to your next event. Moving forward with your passion? We'd love to hear your story. 093 Single Momm Radio – Real Moms. Real Lives. Real Community. | Sometimes God gets your attention in subtle, soft ways. Other times, He may allow (or cause) your entire foundation to quake. For this mom, it was very much the latter. During the fall of 2005, the "perfect family" image she was trying to lead people to believe she had, crumbled from beneath her feet and the mother of two found herself quickly scrambling to keep the lights on and to make ends meet. Unprepared and ill-equipped for the challenges she now had to face, she did what anyone would do; whatever it took. In the three years it took for Jennifer to regain traction, she saw a wide gap in available single-parenting resources and healthy fellowship opportunities. Tired (from wrestling with God) and energized (by the possibilities), in 2008, she decided to move on what He was revealing to her and take action. The ministry - Single Momm: Real Moms - Real Lives - Real Community. Jennifer Finnegan and I are co-hosts. Follow Single Momm on Facebook. SMR is The single mom resource. Email in your questions and comments and we will get to them during the course of the show. Hear another episode. Give to Single Momm. Moving forward with your passion? We'd love to hear your story. The lastest from Zig Ziglar “Born to Win” Tom joins the show. | Mixing in his knowledge and wisdom, together, with his down-home wit and Mississippi-style humor, the book that's taken him eighty-plus years to write, came in right on time. The Born to Win philosophy is "profoundly simple" and "simply profound". The concept that you have to plan to win and prepare to win before you can expect to win is simple, but simple doesn't mean it's necessarily easy, and when you dig a little deeper, you find out just how profound it really is. YOU really are born to win. Find out how you can prepare yourself for success and change the world. On today's show, Tom joins in and talks about his dad, the book, and growing up Ziglar. Get your copy of the book and receive bonus goodies from Tom Hopkins and many others. You can also get a chapter for free. Moving forward with your passion? We'd love to hear your story. 091 Finding your Voice – “The power of her words brought 3 necessary ingredients.” | Doing time in a job that was clearly designed for someone else, she came up with a slew of reasons to keep herself locked away. Mortgage. Kids. Marriage. Not even the physical symptoms and complications she experienced through the years were enough to drive her toward freedom and a new beginning. Then it happened. An emotional shift ushered its way in and with clarity, she realized that while her dreams and passions hadn't changed, neither did the distance between her and them. Feeling the shock of the grenade she had uncovered, she immediately decided to shake her own foundation and disrupt the pattern that everyday life imposed on her. Jacque from Tennessee joins us back on the show and shares her spirit of hope and liberation. Ideas she had to sort through: It's OK to admit you want something out of life; The thought of growing deeper roots is unbearable; Establishing and enforcing personal boundaries brings confidence. 090 Finding your Voice – Higher education was blurring his view | One of the beliefs that was stunting his career growth is that he thought his opportunities were limited based on what he went to school for. Once he understood and took to heart, his schooling wasn't the limitation he once thought, his attitude quickly lifted as he began to recognize the potential within him, and the options for a meaningful, professional fit. Matt from Georgia joins us on today's show and talks about the transformation that's taken place (and still is) in his personal belief system and how it is powering his next steps. (For him, it goes deeper than just his educational experience.) Three other beliefs that were at one time holding him back: To be Godly is to poor and unnoticed; He's undeserving of a better life; A plan has to be complete and perfect before one can begin. One of the more empowering revelations that came to him: After years of piling up excuses based on his past, " I can put them down now." Moving forward with your passion? 088 Finding your Voice – The truth is in the fiction | Having spent the lion's share of her career writing and editing business-related personal development material, it was somewhat of a challenge to shift her writing style to one that would be fun, entertaining, and educational for the young reader.
