Podcast Description

This is the Sony Award-winning podcast from Book Slam, London's best (only?) literary nightclub where books, music and free thinking intersect in a Bermuda triangle of no brow culture. Book Slam happens regularly at The Tabernacle in Notting Hill, but this podcast gives you the opportunity to catch up on the readings and performances, plus interviews and more. Recently, Book Slam has featured such luminaries as Will Self, Adele, Plan B, William Boyd, Irvine Welsh, Simon Armitage and the Alabama 3. It's the brainchild of Patrick Neate who once danced in the longest conga in the world. You can see more details about Book Slam at www.bookslam.com.

Customer Reviews

Excellent for listeners interested in modern lit and music.

I've been listening to Book Slam for the last nine months, and love it so much that I wish I could travel to London from the States for every live reading. Each episode showcases the best performances from a live Book Slam evening in London, and includes commentary and interviews on the authors, actors, poets, and musicians who performed. Book Slam is hosted by author Patrick Neate and, typically, his friend Elliot. They are sharp and witty guys who infuse each show with humor and literary knowledge without a hint of pretension. The quality of performances is always stunning, the editing is excellent, and each show is completely engaging from beginning to end. My favorite elements are the quality of the work and the interviews, in which the artists come across as genuine and likeable people. Keep up the spectacular job, Book Slam!

if you can't make it to London

This podcast with its two engaging hosts, great music, readings, and interviews is balanced, well-produced. I save up and listen to a whole row of them, otherwise I miss them when they are over.
