ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 20 - An Old Chat With Armando Iannucci | #20 is an old interview - my first audio one in fact - that I've dug out, dusted off, and released as a ComedyChat podcast. It's a 50-minute chat with Armando Iannucci, which originally took place in 2007, and many of the questions were submitted by the Cook'd and Bomb'd forum members. ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 19 - Occupy Comedy Chat | #19 is a depart from the normal format, as ApexJazz talks passionately about the Occupy Wall Street movement. Follow @cookdandbombd and @ComedyChat on Twitter. http://comedychat.co.uk | 11/23/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 18 - The Shield Of Irony | #18 sees me joined by both ApexJazz and Kelvin, as we discuss the Ricky Gervais Twitter controversy, and Louise Mensch on Have I Got News For You respectively. I wrote an article about the former for @NewLeftProject which you can read here - http://www.newleftproject.org/index.php/site/article_comments/ricky_gervais_comedy_punching_down - and so the chat follows on from that, and gets into how comedians hide behind irony, and whether or not they should actually apologise when they offend audiences. ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 17 - Nothing To Be Done | #17 is a chat with ApexJazz about the Samuel Beckett play "Waiting For Godot", which then segues into talk about Chris Morris and his seminal radio show Blue Jam. ApexJazz makes the case for Blue Jam being largely influenced by the work of American radio talent Joe Frank. Finally, a look at the first episode of the new Bain & Armstrong comedy drama, Fresh Meat. Follow @ComedyChat on Twitter. http://comedychat.co.uk | 9/28/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 16 - A #splat With Jonnie Marbles | #16 is a chat with activist and part-time comedian Jonnie Marbles, where we discuss his recent close encounter with the palm of Wendi Deng's right hand. Given the extremely negative, hysterical demonisation of him that occurred on social networking sites like Twitter, I wanted to know what he was really like, what motivated his actions, and how he's coping with being at the center of a twitterstorm. ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 15 - A Chat With Charlie Brooker | #15 has a special guest, namely Charlie Brooker, who talks about what it's like to transition from journalist, to presenter, to performer. We also talk about comedy in general, and the hiterto unknown power that cameramen can have over performers... Follow @ComedyChat on Twitter. | 7/5/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 14 - Nerds Are Safe From Identity Theft | #14 has Kelvin and myself continuing to discuss the second series of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, and this branches into a debate about whether it's ok for comedians to reuse material that's already been commercially released. Is stand-up seen as being more disposable and ephemeral than other types of comedy? It sort of seems that way, given people's strict reluctance to it being repurposed... ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 13 - Alienation Through Crisps | #13 sees the return of Kelvin, and a new voice to the @ComedyChat podcast in Little Hoover. We discuss Psychoville, repeatedly mispronounce the word "homage", and then get into the real meat: the first two episodes of the second series of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. I'm absolutely loving the show, after worrying that my high expectations would be confounded. We look back at series one, and discuss the changes in format. Then, after around 50 minutes of that, I do a monologue about alienation, and wonder whether Stewart Lee's comedy connects particularly strongly with people like myself, who dislike much of popular culture. | 5/25/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 12 - An Introducion To Chekhov | #12 sees me joined by ApexJazz, where we froth over the Sky Arts adapdation of Chekhov one-act plays, available on DVD as Chekhov Shorts. I speculate on why The Boosh may not be the most popular comedians on the Cook'd and Bomb'd forums, and then ApexJazz and I look at British comedy circa January 2011, which is when this was originally recorded. That entails a lot of groaning about Frankie Boyle's Tramadol Nights, and The Morgana Show, rounded off by pointing out what a shame it is that Ruperert Murdoch is the one bringing culture to British comedy, while Channel 4 continues to stagnate, and attack the vulnerable. | 5/13/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 11 - Instant Gratification? I Can't Wait That Long | #11 is drooling at the mouth, awaiting for the return of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle to BBC2, and deconstructs a promotional article he's written, where he really sets out his stall. Plus, could there ever be another Ernie Kovacs? | 4/30/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 10 - Why Did The Comedian Cross The Road? He Was Pandering To A Focus Group | A look at how 10 O'Clock Live is developing, and it's dull reliance on uncreative swearing. Some film chat, too: BLACK SWAN SPOILERS FROM 17 UNTIL 24 MINUTES. ESPECIALLY AT 23 MINUTES. Finally, another discussion about the opening titles of the Alan Partridge Mid Morning Matters videos. Which last 6 seconds. Hey, they're emblematic of a wider problem, ok? | 2/23/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 9 - Accentuate The Negative | More discussion of 10 O'Clock Live, with particular emphasis on Charlie Brooker, and his lack of subtlety. Plus a look at fandom, and how motivating negativity is. Finally, Chris Morris wins another Bafta, so there's some chat about Four Lions, and Radio Bristol | 2/19/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 8 - Improv Everything | Why analyse comedy? Find out how fun and educational it can be. We also look at the Grandma's House DVD, criticism itself, the first episode of 10 O'Clock Live, and how Fast and Loose makes improv look dull and uncreative. | 2/5/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 7 - Man Survives Death | What happens when a comedy fan tries to get into stand-up? What happens when he faces barriers such as a lack of microphone and a stage? Hear ffogems' second-ever attempt, and find out. How about when one of their YouTube vids goes mini-viral? Share in the abuse that such a thing provokes, as we laugh at pompous football fans. | 1/10/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 6 - Having Tourettes Is Like Being Kicked Up The Balls By Michael Jackson's Mum | Tourettes is a lot more interesting and creative than you might realise. | 12/13/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
16 |
ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 5 - Comedy Fans Are Misogynistic | Harry Hill mocks the poor, Stephen Fry flounces, and Twitter goes nuts. | 11/1/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
17 |
ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 4 - Stamping On The Tadpole | The first few weeks of This Just In deconstructed. | 9/24/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

18 |
ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 3 - It's (Only Fit For) A Cracker! | One-liners, Keith Chegwin, are Mitchell and Webb any good? What happened to inventive and experimental British comedy? Why is bad comedy compelling? Do "golden ages" exist? No, but C4 was definitely better when I was a kid. | 9/22/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
|
19 |
ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 2 - The Naturalistic Fallacy | In this second Comedy Chat podcast, we discuss naturalistic comedy, and how it seems light on laughs, and try to figure out why this may be. Then we discuss the way an ashamedly old-school comedy such as The IT Crowd was marketed, before finally discussing Grandma's House, the new Simon Amstell and Dan Swimer sitcom on BBC2. Much enthusiasm is generated. | 9/10/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

ExplicitComedy Chat - Episode 1 - Cocaine: My Jack Whitehall Shame | In this first Comedy Chat podcast we take a look at Jack Whitehall's 'cocaine shame', and argue it's just a PR stunt for the new Channel 4 show 'Stand Up For The Week'. Then we discuss whether Angus Deayton should have left Have I Got News For You, and finally we talk about Chris Morris showing Four Lions in Australia. | 6/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
