The Joy and Pain of Walking with God | Genesis 21:1-21 Sermon given by: Pastor Carl Broggi. Intro: A study of contrast. Joy often comes through pain and heartache; see Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Like in the family—the same people that can bring us joy can also bring us heartache. I. The miracle of Isaac, see Genesis 21:1-7. Isaac means laughter- 1st time: Genesis 17:15-21. 2nd time: Genesis 18:9-13. 3rd time: Genesis 21:5-6. (Is anything too difficult for the Lord?) II. The mockery of Ishmael, see Genesis 21:8-11. Ishmael was also Abraham’s joy but, Sarah lost control and anger overcame her. (This is an example of a child caught in the middle.) III. The mercy of God, see Genesis 21:12-21. (What should Abraham do?) God tells him to listen to Sarah. Abraham and Sarah could only give glory to God for Isaac since he was a miracle baby. Hagar is sent away-God hears the distress of loved ones; God provided for them, see also Psalm 68:5-6. Personal Application: 1. Though God can forgive sin it doesn’t mean we won’t face the consequences. 2. God is still bigger than any sin, see Romans 5:20. 3. Do you know God’s forgiveness? | 8/8/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Problem of Besetting Sin | Genesis 20:1-18 Sermon given by: Pastor Carl Broggi. Intro: Abraham is called ‘a friend of God.’ I. Abraham’s misstep, see Genesis 20:1-2. This is his besetting sin see in Genesis 12:11-13. It is a half truth and Abraham’s motivation is to deceive because he is fearful for his life. II. Abraham’s misery, see Genesis 20:3-16. God knew precisely what was in the king’s heart. The men were frightened also because of God’s warning. Abraham forgot God’s promise and therefore he is stepping out of the Will of God. Sin can be passed generationally, see Genesis 26:6-10. III. Abraham’s mercy, see Genesis 20:17-18. Abraham doesn’t become bitter; he realized the king as God’s tool to show God’s mercy. Psalm 66:18—God responds to Abraham’s prayer. Personal Application: 1. Besetting sin always hurts other people; ourselves and God (see Genesis 20:6). 2. Besetting sin needs to be confronted with a healthy fear of God. 3. Besetting sin needs to be confronted with God’s Word. 4. Our sin doesn’t change who God is, see Genesis 20:7. | 8/1/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Snapshot of a Spirit Filled Church | Acts 2:42-47 Sermon given by: Pastor Carl Broggi. Intro: The church can be a Godly place to worship when it’s done His way. Not perfect because it’s made up of people—but a healthy church. These are non-negotiable: I. There was a continued determination, see Acts 2:42. Continuance is proof of conversion—much more than church attendance, see 1 John 2:19. II. There was Bible education. Things you like to hear and things you don’t like to hear—teaching and preaching the Word of God. Is my/your belief based on the Word of God, see 2 Timothy 4:3. III. There will be a loving association. Unity is also in what we share—outwardly. Fellowship is not an option if a church is to grow, see Acts 16:5. IV. There was sincere adoration—praising and worshipping the Lord; the breaking of bread and prayer. Being lukewarm is knowing but not being excited by the Truth, see Revelation 3:15. V. There was unselfish consideration, see Acts 2:43-45. If your gift means little to you it means little to God, see 2 Samuel 24:22-25. VI. There was ongoing multiplication, see Acts 2:46-47. They were filled with the Holy Spirit—if you have been saved then you have something to share, see Acts 6:7. Personal Application: 1. The truth sometimes is offensive, but if not—we would not be made aware of our sin. 2. Fellowship is crucial, see Hebrews 3:13. 3. Healthy sheep will reproduce; are you willing to share your Faith—your Gift? | 7/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

God Bless America | Psalm 80 America was born in 1776 but today it needs to be born again. Pastor Broggi looks at our founding fathers faith and compares the Israel of King Asaph's day to America today. First we look at God's sovereign planting of both Israel and America. Throughout God's Word (Isaiah, Jeremiah and Amos) we see God's people described as the vine. Jesus talked about His followers being the vine and He the branch. This concept is addressed in Ps. 80:8. Like Israel, America was divinely planted by God. Today, secular history books fail to mention the Pilgrim's gratefulness to God; instead their gratefulness is attributed to the Indians. Secondly, God sovereignly provided both for Israel and America. What God did for Israel, He did for us (Ps. 33:12 & Ps. 80:10). This country has been blessed more than any other. God will bless any nation that blesses God. (Ps. 35:27, Ps. 144:15 & Prov. 14:34.) Unlike Bette Midler's song, God is NOT involved from a distance. Rom. 13:1 All authority comes from God. Ps. 75:2-6 Though Benjamin Franklin was considered by many a deist, he did have the benefit of being under the teaching/preaching of George Whitfield. And at the Constitutional convention of 1787 he said: "I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth- that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?" Third, just as God can bless the nation that blesses God, God's sovereign punishment can fall on the nation that forgets Him. In Ps. 80:12 Asaph talks about the hedge. Today God is cutting holes in our hedge of protection...both internally through the welfare state we have become and externally through the militant action of terrorists. George Mason said: "By an inevitable chain of causes and effects, Providence punishes national sins by national calamities." As Israel opened the door to idolatry and was abandoned by God...the same is happening in America today. Our economy is in a shambles; we are spending money we don't have; we have countless millions who want the support of the system, who don't want to work. God made us to work...even before the fall, Adam worked in the garden. We will work in heaven. Finally, we look at God's sovereign pleasure of the nations. Ps. 80:7 & 80:14. Application: 1. We are to pray up. 1 Ti 2:1-4 1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Ch 7:14-15 14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 “Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place. 2. We are to speak up. We are to preach the gospel. There is a direct correlation between the disintegration of the people and the disintegration of the nation. 3. We need to confess up. We need repentance. 1 Pe 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? Prayer without repentance angers God. Ps. 80:4. | 7/4/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Eroding American Family | Gen. 19:27-38 Introduction: The breakup of a family doesn't make headlines - but its impact is like termites on the foundation of every nation. Whenever the family falls apart, the nation begins to crumble. The erosion of a nation is very slow but steady. I. The Signs of Domestic Erosion: Zimmerman a sociologist identified 7 signs that accompanied the fall of every civilization throughout history. 1. Marriage loses its sacredness. In 1900 1 in 100 marriages ended in divorce; today 50 in 100 marriages end in divorce. 2. The traditional meaning of marriage is lost. 3. Feminist movement abounds. There is no desire to have or to raise kids. 4. There is public disrespect for parents. 5. There is an in juvenile delinquency. 6. There is an increase in the acceptance of pre-marital sex. 7. There is an increase in homosexual sex. II. A Case of Domestic Erosion. Lot was saved but living a life of compromise. His sin cost him his home and family. Alcohol makes people forget. Lot got his daughters out of Sodom, but he couldn't get Sodom out of his daughters. A sign of a family going down is 'no fear of God.' An absence of the Word of God = an absence of the fear of God. Lot's disobedience resulted in the creation of the Moabites and the Ammonites...bitter and persistent enemies of Israel. III. Protection Against Domestic Erosion We can either fix the problem after it happens or we can take preventative action relating to domestic erosion. A look at Eli and his worthless sons Hophni and Phineas (1Sam. 2) No one is immune. You must take action. You must set the standard in your home. Continue to evaluate the spiritual standards. Tests come. (Deut. 8:2). Am I allowing things in my life I wouldn't 5 or 10 years ago? Application: 1. A father fails his family when he lets little sins become big sins. Lot first moved to the outskirts of Sodom - Gen. 13. Then he moves into the city - Gen 14. Then he becomes part of the ruling council - Gen 19. 2. We destroy our families when we rationalize sin. Lot's daughter's said they couldn't find a man (rational lies) - they never even prayed to God for a man. 3. We have power with our families when we have power from God. | 6/20/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

God’s Friend Abraham | Genesis 18:1-33 Introduction: We are friends of God positionally when we become saved. But we need to be friends, experientially. The Bible three times refers to Abraham as a friend of God. Abraham was a friend of God through his ministry to the Lord in which he served the Lord personally, enthusiastically, humbly and generously. He was also a friend through his ministry to his wife in the way he serves both her and God. And Abraham was obviously a friend of God through his ministry to others as evidenced in the courage, contriteness and compassion of his prayer. Abraham was God's friend because he served god with his best, because he cared about his family's spiritual needs and did something about it and because of his compassion for others. | 6/6/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Becoming a Bold Witness For Christ | Acts 4 Intro: The necessary components of being a bold witness for Jesus Christ. I. You must be prepared for persecution. How did the apostles become so bold? Are they different—greater than us? No, some reasons can be found: Acts 2:47 and 2 Corinthians 2:15-16. II. You must be empowered for proclamation, see Ephesians 1:13. 1. You have to listen 2. You have to believe 3. Then you are sealed! III. You must be convinced of one salvation, see Matthew 21:33-44. Jesus Christ will either be a stepping stone into Heaven or a stumbling block, and the Bible says HE indeed will be a stumbling block to the majority, see Acts 4:12. IV. You must be a witness for regeneration, see Acts 4:13-22. See Acts 4:20 for the definition of witnessing. Personal Application: 1. We need to be on our knees before the Lord to ask Him to be our guide to witness to others. | 5/23/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

God and Government | Romans 13 Pastor John Krieger Intro: How to balance God’s Word against government when the two so often go against each other. A. We have a dual citizenship: a citizen of Heaven and the government of this world (USA). God still needs men who are warrior types—there is evil everywhere! B. We are to pray for Kings and Rulers/those in authority not just simply rise up against them see Jeremiah 29:4-7; we are also commanded to submit to authority: see Romans 13:1-2 and 1 Peter 2:13-17. The United States is a Republic—not a Democracy. C. Jesus held Christians to the highest level/standard. D. Reason’s for America’s Godly Heritage: 1. America’s protection of Israel. 2. America was founded on the principle of who God is. Personal Application: 1. Jesus came to preach the Gospel to men and women—what is our response? See John 11:50. 2. We must not get involved with social gospel, see Proverbs 24:21. 3. Daniel trusted God to do what was right and gave honor to the king, see Daniel 6:21-28. Walking With God | Genesis 17 Intro: We are running so fast and are so busy we tend to run ahead of God. These are lessons from Abraham on how to have a close relationship with God. I. Waiting for God to speak, see Genesis 17:1-3. 13 years of silence see Genesis 16:16 and Genesis 17:1. You are never too old for God to speak with you. During the quiet years God is nurturing/preparing us see Psalm 37:3. II. Listening for God to direct, see Genesis 17:4-21. Abram’s name changed to Abraham; when God speaks it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks! III. Obeying what God requires, see Genesis 17:22-27. Obeying what God shows us the very day. Personal Application: 1. When God speaks from His Word He delights in our obedience! 2. Taking time with God alone will be some of the most productive time in your life! 3. When God speaks to our hearts He normally applies His Word in the everyday occurrences of life. | 5/9/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The God Who Sees | Genesis 16 Intro: We tend to not wait on God and instead we step in to fix the problem, we then have to live with the consequences. Abram (Abraham) ran ahead of God. This is the 1st record of marital disharmony. I. The double-mindedness of Abram. Abram is now 85 years old. A. The double-minded problem Abram faced, see Genesis 16:1. B. The double-minded path Abram took, see Genesis 16:2-3. C. The double-minded price Abram paid, see Genesis 16:4. God doesn’t do anything because Abram didn’t ask. II. The deceitful heart of Sarai. A. Her deceitful heart expressed with her untamed tongue, see Genesis 16:5. Sarai is tied up in emotion, she is filled by self. B. Her deceitful heart expressed in her untamed temper, see Genesis 16:6. III. The descending mercy of God. A. The revelation of God’s mercy, see Genesis 16:7. Personal Application: 1. When in a trial we must not run ahead of God to accomplish something out of the Will of God. 2. When a trial comes realize God teaches us about Him. 3. When in a trial remember God sees you in your affliction. | 5/2/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Grapes, Giants, Grasshoppers and God’s Will | Numbers 13: 23-33 Intro: 4 things that stopped the nation of Israel from entering the Promised Land. These same 4 things will stop us from being in the center of God’s Will. In Heaven there are no giants! 1. They followed the wrong crowd; see Numbers 13:31 and Proverbs 1:15-16. 2. They were not willing to face the giants, see Numbers 13:32-33. 3. They saw themselves as grasshoppers, see Numbers 13:33. 4. The root of their problems was unbelief, see Hebrews 3:16-19. The Will of God is that no one would perish and that all should come to repentance. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” See Matthew 4:19. Personal Application: 1. One decision can affect the rest of our lives. 2. The smaller our faith—the bigger our giants: fear, failure, temptation, discouragement, etc. 3. Your temptation is no greater than anyone else’s, see 1 Corinthians 10:13. | 4/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Great church, Awesome Pastor!!!
Awesome preaching. I was a Marine station in Beaufort and I fell in love with that church. The way Pastor Broggi preaches and teaches the Word of God is really amazing. I really enjoyed his preaching and you would walk out of that church not only knowing and understanding the word of God but also you would find yourself applying it to your life. Really amazing! I recommend this to anybody.
Sound as a Rock
Dr. Broggi really knows what he's talking about. I am a college student away from Community Bible and many times I find myself missing CBC and yearning for the sound doctrine that comes from that pulpit.
Solid
Sound Biblical teaching. You walk away better knowing the Word of God.
