Customer Reviews
Good Content, But Flat Delivery
First, let me say that this review is based upon the first 44 episodes and a sprinkling of others. I find much of the material and readings interesting in content and helpful in learning how to change and overcome the internal obsticles to happiness. Some of it is a bit too metaphysical for me, bordering on astrology, but if you listen with an open mind, take what you like and leave the rest, you might get something out of it. Over time, some of the other stuff might make more sense. My sole complaint is the delivery of the host. His voice has no dynamics whatsoever. His monotone delivery leaves no doubt he is reading. Of course he's reading! :) However, the lack of vocal variation can make it difficult to focus on the materials. I look forward to future episodes and hope that the host will take my comments as well-intended and consider that he might not be delivering the message with the hope and happiness that he surely must feel.
One of the best
I really like this podcast. The variety is the best part for me. Each story has some insight you can bring to your day or your life, and there are so many perspectives. I enjoy the way he talks, I love listening to accents. This is one of my favorites, especially if I'm having a sluggish day, listening gets me thinking more productively so I can move forwards and keep my days on track. And on a good day it's even better!
the greatest? maybe...
i listen to this podcast on my commute every morning to start the day and relax- and center myself. And when I'm going for a nice walk through the neighborhood. Mr. Shepherd wisely doles out knowledge and wisdom from Christian points of view, buddhist, to positive psychology. I have also bought a few books by the authors and articles he cites like Zimmerman and MJ Ryan. In the end, THIS podcast has made my life better overall and strive for contemplation and mindfulness. I am picky with my time and find myself not listening to padcasts and deleting them after a few months but this one's been a keeper. The topics vary and are numerous. This is a self help podcast, mainly for mature folks. I am grateful to have come across Mr. Shepherd's podcast and am so thankful for his work. Wish I could meet him in person. He seems like a beautiful person. Subscribe, you won't regret it.
ps- this is the first and only review I have done for a podcast I usually never write reviews but in the spirit of the podcast, sharing enlightenment makes the world better.
