Declaring Independence 6/04/09 | Tonight's Declaring Independence is going to be a very difficult one and I encourage you all to tune in. We're going to put a human face on the issue of late-term abortion. My first guest is going to be Lynda Waddington, a colleague of mine from the Iowa Independent. 14 years ago, she actually had a late-term abortion because they discovered a serious problem with the fetus. It's a remarkable story that, quite frankly, is not going to be easy to talk about. Just preparing for the interview tonight has really shaken me up emotionally. But it's an important story and we need to put it out so that people understand that this is not an abstraction, this is an issue that involves real people facing the most painful choice imaginable. Declaring Independence 3/26/09 | On tonight's Declaring Independence, we'll have part 2 of last week's interview with Mary Kane (done live, not recorded) about the government's various bailout programs. Then we'll have none other than PZ Myers on the show for the second interview. PZ wrote on his blog a couple days ago: "Ed and I are planning to strip naked, grease ourselves up with bear fat, tie our left wrists together, and go at each other with Bowie knives. It will make for great radio!" Unfortunately, I had my producer check into it. It seems that if PZ and I really did strip naked, cover ourselves in bear grease and go at each other with bowie knives, that would bring a big fine from the FCC even on the radio. So we're gonna have to do the next best thing: make fun of creationists. It's too bad. He had me at "strip naked." | 3/29/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Interesting and Geeky
For a first time podcaster, Brayton does a good job of keeping the show flowing and avoiding the technical troubles that seem to plague call-in podcasts. This show is a moderate skeptic's take on current events with call-ins who are level-headed and thoroughly knowledgeable. The first episode takes a look at whether Hillary Clinton is constitutionally eligible for the office of Secretary of State and also considers the recount in Minnesota's senate race. This podcast will probably be more appealing to people who are interested in learning about political stories in full detail. Those looking for sensationalism or sound-bytes may grow a bit bored. Although I would classify myself as the former, the show sometimes got a bit dry. However, the show keeps to the subject at hand very well, and the in-depth coverage is refreshing in light of the many freethinker podcasts out there which limit themselves to blurbs and opinions.
Love the podcast but...
Ed, you need to get on your producer! The last podcast uploaded was 4/16 & today is 5/12!
Wow
Only listened to one episode but the guests and interviewer were fantastic.
