Help Catch the LRA | Imagine a child you know, one that is close to you, a family member, or a friend. Now imagine that child gets kidnapped. If the child is a girl, she will be used as a sex slave; a boy, as young as 9, will be used as a soldier, going on to kill hundreds of innocent people. If the child is disobedient, a horrible death will come at the hands of the other children, having chunks of flesh bitten off until that child dies from blood loss. Would you do anything you possibly could to save this child? What if it were your neighbor's child or a friend of a friend's child? What if it were a child that lived in your city or country? What if it were a child from Africa? We always want to help the child, but depending on the distance, it can feel out of reach. Thinking about a child you know in such a horrible scenario, allows you to begin to understand what people in Uganda, Sudan, Central African Republic, and Democratic Republic of the Congo go through at the hands of the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army). The LRA is a Christian terrorist group that has been abducting, raping, maiming, murdering, and stealing since 1987, and they are still going strong. They have no clear political motive, and they only claim to be operating as some sort of service to God. Defeatists claim that there is no way to stop an army of children. The evidence behind this is that soldiers simply can't kill children, even if ordered to do so, and the children were kidnapped in the first place, so fighting the LRA front line is tantamount to killing innocent children. You can help. The LRA can be crushed from the top down. The UN, as well as several countries in the world, have the sophistication to take out the LRA without killing the front line child soldiers. The child soldiers are kept fighting out of fear and mystic lies, so if we take out the men who control the LRA, we topple the LRA. Many experts believe that there are only around 5 people who control the LRA. Those 5 people are not untouchable; they can be removed and jailed to face trial. The forces in this region lack the military intelligence to take out the LRA, that mostly hides out in unknown locations in the forest. There have been weak and underfunded international steps in the past to stop the LRA, but a proper force, put together by the rich and powerful countries of the world, could easily remove the 5 men with little effort and very little cost, in comparison to any other military action that has made the news in recent years. The people, governments, and military of this region are prepared to give their full cooperation to any international force that is willing to stop the LRA. Help out now by sending a letter to the UN, and the leader's of the world's 8 richest nations (G8), whose power and influence can easily stop this threat.
