An Evening with Kam Kardashian (The Other Sister) - May 25,2012 | Tonight F4F welcomes back producer/writer/director Christin Mell for the third part in an ongoing bimonthly series, where we discuss the latest projects being created at the Tellofilms website. This month well begin by getting an update on an upcoming webseries we learned about in March, a drama about lesbian teen runaways called "The Throwaways". After that well be joined by Kam Kardashian - you know, the "other" Kardashian sister? The lesbian one? No? Well, if you havent heard of her, its probably because she likes it that way. Shell be here to talk about the ongoing web reality series about her life, her relationship with her family (such as it is), and her attempts to live outside of the long shadow cast by her "famous for being famous" sisters. | 5/24/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Warrior Princess 101: Fans Discuss "Xena" - May 18,2012 | F4F Radio has been discussing "Xena: Warrior Princess", even now enormously popular among fans of lesbian pairings on TV because of the Xena/Gabrielle relationship, every six months for the past two years. Looks like its time for a fifth conversation, and appropriately enough we welcome back author/filmmaker Kim Pritekel, who has been involved with the last three Xena shows as either a guest or a cohost. Rather than focus on fan fiction or "uberfic" this time, however, tonight well be discussing the television show itself. Kim and I will be joined, not by Xena fanfic authors, but by three longtime fans of the show - Zea Apa, Kelly Neal and Adm_Hawthorne. And well be talking about EVERYTHING we loved most about the show, from the subtext to the story arcs to the comedy. | 5/17/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mass Appeal - "FemShep" and Mass Effect Femslash - May 04,2012 | This week F4F Radio will boldly go where it hasnt before, to a galaxy far, far away. Thats right, for the first time were going into space - to play video games. The "Mass Effect" trilogy is one of the most successful console game series of the decade, and "Mass Effect 3" has certainly been the most prominent, most controversial game of 2012, thanks to an ending that has frustrated nearly everyone to beat the game. Once you get past the hoopla, though, you get a vastly entertaining action-RPG game that allows the player to initiate romantic storylines between the male (or female) hero, and various male and female supporting characters. Yes, thats right, since ME1 the female Commander Shepard could become involved with, among other people, the asari Liara TSoni. Which, coincidentally, is the main pairing well be discussing tonight. Two of tonights guests are best-known for their fanfics pairing "FemShep" with Liara - Rae D. Magdon, writer of the "Can Wait" series, and N.Q. Wilder, who wrote the "All Things Must Pass" trilogy. Our third and final guest has also written FemShep/Liara, but Sisirongana has spent more time on stories like "Blood From a Stone" for an (unfortunately) noncanon pairing, FemShep/Miranda Lawson. | 5/3/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

"Glee" Three - A Chat with Pezberry Authors - Apr 13,2012 | In what has turned into an annual tradition on F4F Radio, we return to the world of “Glee” for the third time in three seasons. Two years ago the main topic was “Faberry” – Quinn Fabray/Rachel Berry. Last year we focused on “Brittana” – Brittany S. Pierce/Santana Lopez. This time around, we mix things up with a discussion of “Pezberry” – Rachel/Santana. Oh sure, Brittana is canon, not to mention pretty adorable, while Faberry has been huge from almost Episode One. But sooner or later, everyone likes an alternative, and Rachel and Santana certainly qualify. Unlike Quinn, who for years has yoyo-ed between friendship and antagonism when it comes to Rachel, Santana has never exactly cozied up to Rachel. In fact, Santana was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the “Troubletones” this season because Rachel seemed to get all the solos. But as we’ve seen time and again here, overcoming hostility can be a perfect first step to a great pairing. Tonight we’ll be speaking with two Pezberry authors – TheMemoriesFire, who wrote the 11-part series “Eyes Closed to Fingers Crossed”, and TheDisassociation, author of angsty epics like “Life or Something Like It” and “I Wish I Could be Strong Without Somebody There”. Joining me as cohost once again is writer Grdnofevrythng, who has been on my show to discuss everything from “Glee” to “Popular” to “The Devil Wears Prada”. | 4/12/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Shared Story Worlds - the Creators of Tales of Ryh'na - Mar 30,2012 | The theme for F4F Radio this month has been talking about the changing ways in which the Internet is allowing writers and filmmakers to create, as well as the ways in which fanfic authors are becoming something to encourage, not just put up with. Having first spent time discussing "transmedia storytelling" with guests Christin Mell and Bridget McManus, tonight well be looking at a similar phenomenon, the "Shared Story World" (SSW). In an SSW, a detailed "canon" background is created for a brand-new universe. Then the universe and background becomes public property, made available to anyone who wishes to use it for artistic expression - writing, art, video, etc. One such SSW is the upcoming "Tales of Ryhna" (TofR), a world which merges sci-fi and magic as space age colonists clash with the native population of a new planet. Of course, since were talking about TofR HERE, you can count on it being QUITE open to stories involving lesbian relationships. If you needed further proof of that, consider the people behind this project, four of whom will be on the show. Jojo Stratton is a SSW veteran who has written fan fiction for numerous lesbian pairings and was involved in the last two FemslashCons. QH Fletcher was also an organizer of FemslashCon 2011, as well as the prominent writer of femslash Quiethearted for "Devil Wears Prada" and "Rizzoli & Isles". Carson D. Fletcher is an award-winning writer in the Stargate SG-1 fandom who talked about her Sam/Janet stories on F4F in 2010. And A. Sadie Timm, well, if I told you what her psuedonym was, youd know youve been reading her femslash fanfic for years, and you might have even heard her on this show before. My guests will tell us all about TofR, where it got started, and what their ambitions are for the project. | 3/29/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Christin Mell, Bridget McManus, & the return of McManusland - Mar 16,2012 | F4F Radio kicks off March by welcoming back Tellofilms.com creator Christin Mell, who will be making her fourth visit to the show. Tonight will be the second in a series of bimonthly appearances Mell will make in 2012 to discuss the next big project(s) premiering on her website. This time well be joined by actress and stand-up comedian Bridget McManus ("Brunch With Bridget", "Cowgirl Up") to talk about the return of her webseries "McManusLand", which will begin airing its second season in early April at Tellofilms. McManus and her real-life wife Karman Kregloe are technically playing themselves as subjects of a documentary, but the events of each episode are pure farce, similar to Larry Davids life on "Curb Your Enthusiasm". Not only will we learn about what to expect from Season 2, but also well hear from Mell about "The Throwaways", a brand-new webseries in which Tellofilms will be employing "transmedia storytelling" - or the telling of stories across multiple platforms - for the first time. | 3/15/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Another Door Opens - "The Closer" and Brenda/Sharon - Mar 02,2012 | Having recently spent a highly successful hour discussing "Rizzoli & Isles", F4F Radio looks to continue that success by remaining with the same genre, the same network, and even the same NIGHT. "The Closer", an award-winning police drama that wraps up its seventh and final highly-rated season this summer, stars Emmy/Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick as Brenda Leigh Johnson, a Southern belle who just so happens to be a CIA-trained interrogator who heads the Major Crimes division of the LAPD. For several years, "The Closer" remained under the radar for the LGBT fanfic community - that is, until the arrival of Captain Sharon Raydor (two-time Oscar nominee Mary McDonnell), head of the Internal Affairs division responsible for investigating the use of force by police officers. Over the last three seasons that has meant Brenda and Sharon frequently butting heads over whose investigation takes priority. Its also meant dozens of Brenda/Sharon fanfics, thanks to the tension and friction generated by the evolution of their relationship from enemies to allies. Tonight we will have three guests to discuss their Brenda/Sharon works - Rahleeyah, author of the epic "Where You Least Expect it"; I-Love-Capn-Raydor, who wrote the equally epic "Synchronicity"; and Toomanycats, who created the ongoing series "Physics/Chemistry". Well discuss our favorite ladies, whether Brendas marriage makes writing more challenging, and what impact the end of "The Closer" and the upcoming Sharon Raydor spinoff "Major Crimes" will have on the fandom. | 3/1/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Season Two, Interview Two - "Rizzoli & Isles" - Feb 07,2012 | Having spent the first month of the new year on webseries, in February F4F returns to where it started – discussing popular femslash fandoms with successful fanfiction authors. Tonight we will revisit – well, I’ll revisit, it’s usually the first time for Kim – the TNT drama “Rizzoli & Isles”. When I first did a segment on this series near the end of Season One, it was already a huge hit due to the heavy lesbian subtext between Jane (Angie Harmon) and Maura (Sasha Alexander). Now that we’re through Season Two, the audience has grown by leaps and bounds. Neither public statements by the writers denying everything, nor Harmon’s opposition to gay marriage, can dampen fan enthusiasm for a pairing that seems to leap off the screen. (Maybe it’s all those Dorothy Snarker recaps.) Tonight we’ll talk with two prolific and talented fan authors. AdmHawthorne has written dozens of stories such as “Not Now”, “Not Yet”, and “New Experiences”, while SnuffNYC is best known for fics like “Heat Wave” and “Come On In My Kitchen”. We’ll also talk about RizzlesCon, a fan-organized convention which AdmHawthorne helped organize and which is being held this summer in Anaheim, and how something like that could come about after fewer than thirty episodes. | 2/6/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

No Mystery Why We Love "B.J. Fletcher: Private Eye" - Jan 20,2012 | Having spent last week discussing the debut of the brand-new webseries "I Hate Tommy Finch", this time cohost Kim Pritekel and I will be talking about the long-awaited return of an old favorite. It was just last March that I spoke to Regan Latimer, writer and director of "B.J. Fletcher: Private Eye", as well as producer Rochelle Dancel. "Fletcher", which won the AfterEllen.com award for Best Webseries after its premiere in 2008, hasnt aired a new episode since the Season Two finale in 2009, but its returning in February with the five-part Season Three. Tonight well catch up with Regan and Rochelle and talk about how they were finally able to make the third season happen, as well as where they go from here. But they wont be showing up empty-handed - this time theyve brought friends. Joining us will be actress Lindy Zucker, who has portrayed the title character from the very beginning. Well talk about her own experiences filming "Fletcher", how her life has changed since the webseries first aired, and where she can be seen next. | 1/19/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Tellofilms - We Love "I Hate Tommy Finch" - Jan 13,2012 | Typically at this time of year we say “out with the old, in with the new”. But tonight on F4F Radio we kick off 2012 by having it both ways. We welcome back the familiar voice of two-time guest Christin Mell as part of a brand-new bimonthly segment. As co-owner of the Tellofilms website, Christin will visit F4F once every two months to talk about the newest major project launching on the site. Tonight we will also be joined by Julie Keck and Jessica King, the two halves of the “King is a Fink” team. Tonight’s topic will be the brand-new webseries “I Hate Tommy Finch”, starring Nicole Pacent (“Anyone But Me”) and Shannan Leigh Reeve (“Cowgirl Up”). While IHTF, which was written by Julie and co-directed by Christin and Jessica, may have premiered last year as a stage play in Chicago, it was always intended to be much more than just a local theatrical production. A live performance of IHTF, complete with audience and live music, was recorded and then edited for its release this month as a webseries. If successful, the hope is that this can lead to future opportunities for people everywhere to enjoy something that was previously only available to those in a specific location. And considering stories about lesbian characters are even today something of a precious commodity, these opportunities become more important than ever. Our guests will talk about everything that went into making this unique production, what role Tellofilms will play in all of this, and their goals for the future. Joining me tonight – joining me every night, in fact – will be my new cohost/coproducer Kim Pritekel. UPDATE: Co-lead actress Nicole Pacent will also be joining us! | 1/12/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

For New & Old- "Loving Annabelle" Director Katherine Brooks - Dec 23,2011 | Tonight F4F Radio ends 2011 with quite a bang, as we speak with a prominent director whose film about a taboo lesbian pairing became one of the most enormously successful movies of all time in its genre. After years in the world of unscripted reality television directing episodes of shows like "The Osbournes", as well as the short films "Finding Kate" and "Outtakes", Katherine Brooks debut as a feature filmmaker was the 2006 drama "Loving Annabelle", a controversial look at a romance between a boarding school student and her teacher Simone. The award-winning film instantly became a classic for the LGBT community. She built on this success with "Waking Madison," which took a serious look at multiple-personality disorder, and the founding of her own production company, Big Easy Pictures. Well discuss her entire career up to and including her latest endeavor, "Face 2 Face" (can we call it F2F?), a documentary that follows Katherines time spent with 50 Facebook friends and premieres in 2012. Ill be joined by new full-time cohost Kim Pritekel, and just for this special occasion, three-time guest BurningEden. | 12/22/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

23rd Century Lesbians, 20th Century TV - "Babylon 5" Panel - Dec 16,2011 | In what has been a 2011 filled with new ideas and directions for F4F Radio, we start winding down the year with another "panel". Rather than having on authors to interview them about their work in a specific fandom, we have on several committed fans/writers from a fan community to talk about the impact of the fandom itself. Tonights topic has been off the air for a decade, but that hasnt diminished its sheer importance regarding LGBT storylines on network TV. "Babylon 5" was a popular sci-fi drama which ran on TNT for five seasons in the 1990s, and it was here that lucky fans met Susan Ivanovna (Claudia Christian) and Talia Winters (Andrea Thompson), two women who immediately clashed, primarily thanks to Susans hatred for the Psi Corps that Talia belonged to. Over the course of the first two seasons, however, the two grew closer, culminating in the episode "Divided Loyalties". It combined the highest of the highs - a night together that strongly implied Susan and Talia had slept together - with the lowest of the lows - Talia being "possessed" and "killed" by the Control sleeper personality. Regardless of how the storyline ended, the fact remains that this episode aired in 1995, well before shows like "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" prominently featured canon and subtextual lesbian relationships, making B5 one of the VERY first of its kind on commercial television. Our panel will discuss the evolution of the Susan/Talia relationship on B5, its impact on the LGBT community at the time, fan fiction, and how people view it today. The panel will include past guests Del Robertson and Ariestess, as well as first-timers Kerkevik and Sammy, all of whom wrote at least one Susan/Talia fanfic over the years. Also joining us will be two-time guest cohost Kim Pritekel, making her debut as F4F Radios new full-time cohost. | 12/15/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Xena! Again! - Uberfic Authors Carrie Carr & Roselle Graskey - Nov 23,2011 | In what has clearly become a biannual ritual, F4F Radio returns to the subject of "Xena: Warrior Princess" tonight. Ive commented before that its practically impossible to limit the discussion of Xena to two or three authors, due to the sheer size of the fandom and the number of authors who made an enormous impact on the readers. Apparently it was also impossible to limit the discussion of Xena to eight, as F4F will have on two additional writers to talk about their fanfic, uberfic, and original work. Appearing tonight will be Carrie Carr, best known for the Lex/Amanda series that began with"Destinys Bridge", and Roselle Graskey, who wrote the popular uberfic "Lifes Little Edge" as well as the in-progress spinoff "Cage Undone". Helping me tonight again will be author Kim Pritekel, who was a guest on my second Xena show to talk about uberfics like "1049 Club" and "Twilight", and then shared hosting duties with me on my Xena interview #3.. | 11/22/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Waiting to be Found – “Lost Girl” & Author Heartsways - Nov 11,2011 | Tonight we venture back into the world of smaller, up-and-coming fandoms in the femslash community. The successful Season Two of the Canadian television series "Lost Girl" is currently airing, and SyFy has confirmed that starting January 2012 it will be bringing the show to American audiences. Which means Canadas less polite neighbors to the south will have ample opportunity to get in on the ground floor. "Lost Girls" claims that the Fae creatures of legend and folklore, from werewolves to the Morrigan, are real and secretly living among us. Into this world, divided for millenia between the chaotic Dark and the rigid Light, comes Bo, a young fugitive who discovers she is a Succubus, a Fae who feeds off the life force of her sexual partners to the point of death. Trying to come to grips with a parasitical power that has claimed human lives, Bo refuses to be recruited by either side. More importantly for our discussion, Bo is a bisexual woman who in S1 has a torrid, troubled relationship with Lauren, a doctor/researcher who works for the Light as their medical/physiological expert. While secrets tear them apart, nothing can break the heavy sexual tension that has persisted into S2. While the number of Bo/Lauren fics out there is still small, well be talking to the one woman doing the most to change that. Heartsways wrote the quite long, rather dark, and very good "Ways to Tell You Im Sorry", followed by the even longer, darker and better "Darkening the Light". And she topped it off with the lighthearted "Super Sekrit Dialogue of Lauren and Bo". Well discuss Bo/Lauren, the numerous obstacles in their way, and the future growth of the fandom. | 11/10/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Batman, Catwoman & All Things Gotham w/ Cat-Tales' Chris Dee - Oct 28,2011 | On tonight’s show, we’ll be doing something very unusual. For the first time in its history, Femslash4Fans Radio will feature a guest who has little involvement with femslash - for a very good reason. The women of Chris Dees Cat-Tales are an absolute thrill to read. Like all of her characters, there is a depth and complexity that makes them so real and so human. (And since this is Gotham City, Crazier than ever in a few cases!) This summer, as you know, I’ve tried various ways to expand this show to cover a wider array of “femslash” topics and a wider array of “fans” topics in general. Several past guests have written plenty of stories about heterosexual couples, therefore, tonight we are returning to the DC Comics universe to speak with Cat-Tales author Chris Dee. The Cat-Tales universe is based on a very simple principle: DC Comics is a tabloid called The Gotham Post. Like the more sensational tabloids, some of what they print is accurate: there is a place called Gotham City, theres a vigilante there called Batman, he fights a Joker, a Poison Ivy, and so on. But after those broad brushstrokes, the facts get pretty distorted. Cat-Tales tells the real story. As the title indicates, Catwoman is the central character and her relationship with Batman is the heart of the series. And it must have been a scratch where an awful lot of fans itched because its now in Book 6 and the series is currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary. Chris has expanded her series to include a number of spinoffs, a website with a wonderful fan art gallery, the stories are available as downloadable PDFs for printing and as e-books. Theres even a Visitor Center in Second Life. Tonight we’ll talk about everything that makes Cat-Tales great. (And maybe a little Harley/Ivy.) | 10/27/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Fall and Rise of Soaps - "The P@ssionate & the Privileged" - Oct 18,2011 | Last time we spoke of the demise of the ABC soap opera "All My Children", which has moved on to an uncertain future as an online production. From five days a week on a major television network to the wild, woolly world of the Internet, it must be a huge step down, right? Not necessarily. This week well be speaking to the creator of what is not only a new online soap opera, but also the vanguard in an experiment that could potentially change the role production companies and audiences play in series development. "The P@ssionate and the Privileged" contains many of the classic tropes familiar to soap fans - wealthy families at war, conniving outsiders, surprise twin siblings, unhappy marriages, forbidden affairs, power games, and true love. But it also explores subject material which was only explored by soaps like "AMC" and "Guiding Light" in the last decade. Its not uncommon in soaps for members of rival families to begin a romance that defies old hostilities, but it IS when were talking about lead female characters Brynn Logan and Simone Randolph. Their undeniable attraction towards each other has only grown as Season Two approaches its conclusion. Tonight Ill be talking with Hope Royaltey, who left her role as director and executive producer on the webseries "Venice" to create "P&P", as well as its home site FlagshipTV, an interactive entertainment webpage designed to make viewers involved in a shows development as well as its success or failure. Well discuss P&P, FlagshipTV, the current state of soap operas on both TV and the Internet, and what impact she believes she can have on the entertainment industry. | 10/17/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

End of an (Increasingly Femslashy) Era - "All My Children" - Sep 23,2011 | Two weeks ago we talked about femslash from Harry Potter, in the wake of the conclusion of seven books AND eight movies. Tonight we move on to a different kind of ending, the involuntary kind. For five decades the ABC daytime drama "All My Children" ran five days a week, fifty-two weeks a year, with some of the most recognizable actors in soap operas. It tackled important, controversial social issues when few others would - abortion, HIV, transgender, etc. Perhaps the most well-known example of this was when Bianca Montgomery, cherished daughter of central character Erica Kane, came out of the closet to her mother. Since then Bianca went on to have a slew of relationships with other women - Frankie, Lena, Maggie, Reese, and so on - all of which seemed to end in heartbreak. Now that fans have started to fall in love with the newest pairing of Bianca and Marissa, however, ABC announced that All My Children would be cancelled in favor of more reality programming. Granted, its going to have a second life on the Internet, but its too early to know what kind of changes were going to see. In light of the fact that AMC is about to air its last episode on commercial television ever, were spending the show talking about not only the history of Biancas love life on AMC, but also our reactions to the cancellation and our fondest and least-favorite memories from the show. Ill be joined once again by Dreiser, as well as fellow fans Jetgirl and past guest QQSuited. | 9/22/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Looking Back sans Time-Turner - Harry Potter Femslash - Sep 07,2011 | In tonights episode we will not be looking at a specific author or discussing a certain body of fanfic work. By now many of you have seen "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2", which marked the end of a series of seven novels and eight movies that weve followed for years and years. Now that its over, it may be time to take a look back at the entire canonical and subtextual Harry Potter universe. Ill be joined by past guests HP fanfic writers Dreiser and D. Geheimnis, as well as first-timer and fellow author Demoka, and well discuss everything related to femslash and Harry Potter, from major female characters such as Hermione, Ginny, Luna, and Fleur, to what kind of subtext actually exists, to the persistent popularity of the darker, incestuous world of the Lestrange sisters. | 9/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Here with Jason Leaver, "Out With Dad" Writer/Director/Etc. - Aug 26,2011 | Tonight on Femslash4Fans Radio we return to the world of Canadian webseries filmmakers, which we visited in February first with Rosemary Rowe (“Seeking Simone”), and then Regan Latimer and Rochelle Dancel (“BJ Fletcher: Private Eye”). This time we’ll be talking with Jason Leaver, the director/editor/writer/cinematographer . . . yeah, okay, I lost count of how many hats he wears. Suffice it to say he’s the very busy creator of the series “Out With Dad”, which deals with the familiar “coming out” story by looking at it from two perspectives – daughter Rose (Kate Conway), a high school student coming to grips with her sexuality, as well as the hostile reaction by her best friend Vanessa (Lindsey Middleton), and father Nathan (Will Conlon), a man who has raised his daughter alone since birth and now has to figure out what’s the right way to deal with this. Coming off an award-winning first season, Season 2 premiered to great excitement in July 2011. I’ll talk with Jason about what inspired this premise, how challenging it’s been to make a webseries while shouldering much of the workload, whether he expected the critical response which OWD received, and what to expect in the future. | 8/25/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Nowhere Woman - "South of Nowhere" Fanfic Author Clomle - Aug 13,2011 | On tonights show, well finally be taking a closer look at one of the most popular canon lesbian pairings on television in the last decade - South of Nowhere. Weve touched upon the program briefly in the past when writer/producer Nancylee Myatt and star Mandy Musgrave have been on, but this will be the first time where weve fully explored the drama, which aired on The N from 2005-2008. The groundbreaking television series, which targeted the youth demographic, was the first show to ever feature gay teens in the lead roles. For that reason, it was always controversial in how much (or how little) it showed from the romantic relationship between Spencer (Gabrielle Christian) and Ashley (Musgrave). Even though its been off the air for three years, the show still has a rabid following, especially the "Spashley" fans, that agitates for its return to this day. It has also inspired copious amounts of fan fiction, and tonight well be talking to one of the most prolific Spashley authors. Fan favorite Clomle is known for both the large number of one-shots and multi-parters she has written, as well as their high quality. Her most popular - and longest - stories include "Precious Things", "Best For Her", and "Circles and Circles". Well discuss the show, the pairing, the fanfic, and what the future may hold for "South of Nowhere". | 8/12/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Warehouse 13 - Lucky # for Authors Athena Mou & purrpickle? - Jul 22,2011 | Having spent the last show discussing one of the biggest femslash fandoms on the Internet today, this week F4F dials it down a notch and looks at a smaller fandom for a hit show on a smaller network. We’ll be talking about the original sci-fi drama “Warehouse 13”, which just began its 3rd season as the latest in a long line of high-rated and highly-regarded Syfy original series like “Battlestar Galactica”, and “Stargate: Atlantis” (also a topic on this show). “Warehouse 13” deals with a top-secret facility that stores artifacts with fantastic and/or dangerous powers, and the agents tasked with the job of locating them. Specifically we’ll focus on the subtextual pairing of Warehouse 13 agent Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) and tragic heroine-turned-villainess Helena “H.G.” Wells (Jaime Murray). Neither the fact that H.G. only appeared in one-half of Season 2, nor that she was a grief-maddened mother trapped in a century that wasn’t hers, nor that she tried to use the Minoan Trident to start a new Ice Age, seems to have prevented the Myka/Helena pairing from gaining a dedicated following in the femslash community. Probably it didn’t hurt that Helena put an end to her suicidal quest for Armageddon because she couldn’t bring herself to kill Myka. Or that apparently we havent seen the last of H.G. I’ll be joined by two authors – Athena Mou, who has probably written more Myka/Helena fanfic than anyone, including the “Changing of the Seasons” series, and purrpickle, author of fics like “Helena in Beautiful, Flowing Cursive”. My cohost will be past guest and herself a Myka/Helena author, Erin Griffin. | 7/21/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Evolution of "Calzona" with BurningEden & Milk_and_Glass - Jul 08,2011 | I have said that the summer of 2011 will be a season of "experimentation" for F4F Radio. Now that were in our third year, I want to take a few hesitant steps in different directions to see what flies and what falls flat. In tonights segment, we will not be discussing fan fiction per se, nor will we be discussing a brand-new fandom. Instead F4F will backtrack to the summer of 2009 and one of the first interviews ever held here. Thanks to the canon, but all-too-brief lesbian romance between Callie Torres and Erica Hahn on ABCs "Greys Anatomy", the femslash fandom for that show had grown from "big" to "huge". So one night I invited the authors Milk_and_Glass and BurningEden onto my show to discuss GA, as well as Shonda Rhimes other medical drama, "Private Practice". That interview became the most downloaded show in F4F history. Tonight F4F returns to the scene of the crime to talk to Milk_and_Glass and BurningEden once more. This time, however, instead of an interview Im inviting them back to have a discussion about "Greys" and the two years since our original talk. Well discuss the evolution of the Callie/Arizona ("Calzona") pairing, culminating in a wedding late last season, as well as any noncanon relationships that have caught peoples attention. Well also talk once more about Callie/Erica, that pairings viability in the fandom today, and if Calzona has taken its place in my guests hearts. | 7/7/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

"Lebanese" - Brittana Authors Lynne Arlington & Losdosmos - Jun 24,2011 | Last week F4F Radio embarked on its third season by revisiting the "Xena" fandom. While I dont plan on making it a habit, well be doing it again tonight, returning to the hit FOX drama "Glee", which we first discussed in 2009. At the time, "Glee" was already a monster hit, with an exploding femslash fandom. After just 13 episodes, a lot of attention was focused on the young female leads, outcast Rachel and head Cheerio Quinn, and so naturally I concentrated on Rachel/Quinn with my three guests that night. But we did spare some time to discuss an alternate pairing, one that linked the OTHER Cheerios to join with Quinn. While neither Santana nor Brittany had many lines in those first episodes, they were quickly fan favorites - partly because while dimwitted Brittany hardly ever spoke, when she opened her mouth classic one-liners were always the result. And when that included a revelation in "Sectionals" that she and Santana were sleeping together, well, that was all it took. Events in Season 2, particularly Santana realizing she was gay & in love with Brittany, only fueled the popularity of "Brittana". Tonight well be talking to two experienced fanfic authors. Lynne Arlington has written multiple stories, including the "nerd verse", the AU "Bad Things" verse, and the AU epic "Love is a Burning Thing". And LosDosMos wrote fics like "Canteloupe Confessions" and "Power Play", not to mention her own AU, "What Is Done In the Dark". Well be joined by my cohost Grdnofevrythng, who was one of my guests during the FIRST Glee show, and who has helped me with past segments like "Popular" and "The Devil Wears Prada". | 6/23/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

3rd Season, 3rd Time - Xena Authors T. Novan and Ali Vali - Jun 03,2011 | Two years ago on this date, Femslash4Fans Radio had just taken its first few, crawling steps out of the primordial ooze of dead air. I had hosted a few "talk radio format" shows, but the first "interview" segment came weeks later on June 2, 2009. But now F4F embarks on the third year of its existence, and to mark the occasion of that first interview, it is perhaps only fitting that we host a third show on the "Xena: Warrior Princess" fandom. During the first two Xena shows I interviewed six of the best Xena fanfic/uberfic authors out there. Thats not counting the individual Xena authors who have cropped up in one fandom discussion or another, from "Guiding Light" to "Bad Girls". Or those authors whose time spent in the Xena fandom marked the beginning of their varied fanfic histories, as they shifted effortlessly from one show to the next. All taken together, Ive interviewed over a dozen different people whose names can be found at sites like the Academy of Bards or the Athenaeum. And you know, Ive only scratched the surface. So tonight well be adding two more names to the list. T. Novan is the writer of the popular novel "The Claiming of Ford", as well as coauthor of the successful two-parter "Madame President" and "First Lady" along with Advocate. And Ali Vali is the creator of the "Amazonia" series, the Ramses/Sarah series, AND the Harry/Desi series. Our cohost for this evening will be Kim Pritekel, returning to this program for the first time since appearing as a guest, along with Susan X Meagher and D. Jordan Redhawk, on my last Xena show in 2010. | 6/2/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Kalicia Postscript - Discussion of "The Good Wife" Finale - May 27,2011 | Here I bring back Sweetjamielee, who I interviewed in my show on "The Good Wife" two weeks ago, to discuss how Kalicia may or may not have been impacted by the second-season finale that aired last week, and what effect it may have on her writing. Joining us for the first time is Threeguesses, who is herself a popular author of Kalicia fanfic. | 5/26/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

"The Good Wife" and Better Lesbian - Kalicia Author SSJL - May 13,2011 | Tonight Femslash4Fans Radio discusses a small but growing fandom from one of the more popular dramas to air on television over the past couple years. "The Good Wife" may spend a lot of time focusing on the romantic sorta-triangle between main character Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), her husband Peter (Chris Noth), and her boss Will Gardner (Josh Charles), but some of us prefer to focus on the underlying chemistry between Alicia and the lovely Kalinda Sharma (Emmy-winner Archie Panjabi), a bisexual private investigator who works at Alicias law firm. The Alicia/Kalinda pairing, or "Kalicia" as its sometimes called, hasnt exploded the way pairings from shows like "Glee" has, but it has a great deal of potential if "TGW" can maintain its ratings for years to come. Well be talking with an author who has been among the most successful and prolific exploring that potential. SweetJamieLee (AKA SSJL) is best-known for her many stories about the het pairing of Booth/Brennan from "Bones", but recently shes become a lot more involved in "TGW" with her six-part series "A Mile for the Journey". Well talk about why she switched from the still-airing "Bones", where she sees Alicia and Kalinda going in the series, and what more we might see from her. | 5/12/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Boldly Going - "Star Trek: Voyager" Author GL Dartt - Apr 29,2011 | Tonight Femslash4Fans Radio airs the latest in an occasional series of interviews with individual authors. Normally we focus on specific fandoms and speak to multiple authors from that fandom, but every now and then, we have a guest who has written, and written wellm in so many fandoms that we cant limit the discussion to a single fandom. Past guests have included Fembuck, Della Street, Sharon Bowers, and Harper. This time were privileged to have on author GL Dartt, who is probably best known for her massive body of work for Star Trek: Voyager, featuring the Janeway/Seven pairing. Dartts stories include the "Just Between" and "Millenium" series, BOTH of which were so long that they had to be broken out into multiple seasons. But Dartt has also written in several other fandoms, including several Bianca/Reese stories from All My Children, the Helen/Nikki series "After Larkhall" from Bad Girls, and a number of Xena: Warrior Princess stories including the two-parter "Enemy Mine/Enemy Ours". Oh, and she also found time to publish two original novels, "Unexpected Sparks" and "Unexpected Ties". Well find time to discuss it all. Joining us will be my cohost Dreiser, who has herself performed extremely well on this show several times as both cohost and guest. | 4/28/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Together They're Unlimited - "Wicked" Authors AinsleyAisling and Immortality - Apr 15,2011 | F4F Radio has primarily focused on television, be it on the tube or on the web, for the past two years. Tonight, however, marks the first foray into Broadway. Tonight we'll be discussing the enormously successful award-winning novel and musical "Wicked", where the story of L. Frank Baum's Wicked Witch of the West is reworked into something very different, where you'll never look at "The Wizard of Oz" the same way again. "Wicked" has been especially popular with younger women, who have flocked most of all to the tale of the unlikely friendship between the Wicked Witch Elphaba and the Good Witch Glinda, thanks in part to the work of two extremely well-known actresses who originated the parts - Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. (There's a reason they were both on "Glee", you know.) And well, hey, in case you haven't noticed, that's kind of a big demographic when it comes to fan fiction. Since many people saw that friendship as something much, much more, a romance where opposites attract, we'll be talking to two authors from the "Gelphie" fandom. My guests will be AinsleyAisling, who wrote huge stories like "The Effects of Gravity" and the in-progress "Defying Gravity", and Midnight-United, whose own work includes "I Could See the Stars" and "Dazzler: a Love Story". | 4/14/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Your Favorite Show 2.0 - Virtual Season Creators Sue Beck, Calliopes Muse & Inspector Boxer - Apr 01,2011 | After a two-month vacation in the worlds of Internet television and original literature, F4F Radio finally completes its return to the land of unabashed fanfic in tonight's segment. During this show we'll be discussing something that doesn't even exist in many fandoms, the "Virtual Season". Typically the virtual season comes into existence only after the cancellation of a television series, and picks up exactly where the series finale left off. So yes, it's basically a fan fiction series, but one which is created, plotted, and written by a committee of authors. Dedicated members of the fandom who say "the show must go on", but in the direction they want it to go, even if that is a direction the show's writers never intended. Tonight's show will feature three guests representing four different virtual seasons, all of which featured two female cast members as the primary couple. We'll have on Sue Beck, one of the original creators of the long-running "Xena: Warrior Princess" VS; Calliopes Muse, who was partly responsible for the Otalia-centric VS for "Guiding Light"; and returning guest Inspector Boxer, who did double duty as a writer for the "Women's Murder Club" VS, followed by the ongoing "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" VS. We'll be talking specifically about the virtual seasons they helped create, and more generally about virtual seasons as a whole. Joining me as my cohost will be Kathy Pogge, who herself was a writer/producer for virtual seasons of the animated series "Gargoyles" and the BBC drama "Torchwood". | 3/31/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Organizational Support - Golden Crown Literary Society Co-Founder Lori L. Lake - Mar 18,2011 | Having concluded our three-part series on lesbian webisodes, F4F gradually transitions back to fanfic-related topics, but not before making a stop along the way. The Golden Crown Literary Society was founded in 2004 to promote the growth of original lesbian literature, primarily by providing resources and exposure to the lesbian authors upon which the genre depends and connecting readers and authors to celebrate lesbian literature. The GCLS also created the "Goldies", awards given to the best authors of the year at its annual conference, the Mentoring Program for new writers, and a scholarship program. And membership is open to publishers and ordinary fans as well, giving them the opportunity to find new talented faces and support more familiar ones. Fittingly enough, considering the theme of this radio program, many members were themselves at one time fanfic and uberfic authors before they became novelists, and we will be talking to one such person about the past, present and future of the GCLS. Lori L. Lake got her start as Lorelei, Bard of the Lake, author of the uberfic "Gun" trilogy starring Dez and Jay. She went on to become one of the five founding members of the GCLS. Currently the Chair of the GCLS Board and Director of Organizational Development, she has agreed to be the GCLS' spokeswoman for one night. Joining us will be my cohost Susan X. Meagher, who was a guest on my show last year to talk about masterful uberfic such as the "I Found My Heart in San Francisco" series, and who herself is a member of the GCLS and a past Goldie winner. | 3/17/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Private Eyes, They're Watching You: From "BJ Fletcher Private Eye", Regan Latimer & Rochelle Dancel - Mar 14,2011 | Femslash4Fans Radio wraps up its three-part series on lesbian webisodes in March by remaining with our friendly neighbors to the north. Well be talking to Regan Latimer, writer/director of "B.J. Fletcher: Private Eye". Winner of the 2008 AfterEllen.com Web Series Contest, the series follows the adventures of - unsurprisingly - Beatrix J. Fletcher (Lindy Zucker), a private detective investigating adulterers, corporate spies, bicycle thieves, bakery saboteurs, and other miscreants over the course of twenty episodes. BJ has very definite ideas about what it means to be a private eye, which unfortunately tend to lead her into problems in both her professional and personal lives. Lucky for her she has Georgia Drew (Dana Puddicombe). The Penny to BJs Inspector Gadget, Georgia is her best friend, her investigative assistant, the one with the nicer computer, and too often the one noticing what BJ has missed. Well be talking to Latimer - along with the shows associate producer, documentary filmmaker Rochelle Dancel - about the experiences of filming the series, the BJ/Georgia/Jenna love triangle, the chances of seeing a Season Three, and more. Well be joined by this weeks cohost, the fanfic writer Docwho2100, who also helped me with my Nikki & Nora show in 2009. | 3/14/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

ISGLW (Internet Seeking Great Lesbian Webseries) - "Seeking Simone" Creator Rosemary Rowe - Feb 18,2011 | Femslash4Fans Radio continues its discussion of popular lesbian webseries in February by chatting with one of our friendly neighbors to the north. We'll look at the Canadian webseries "Seeking Simone" and its writer/co-creator Rosemary Rowe. "Seeking Simone" follows the mishaps of Simone Selkin (Renee Olbert), a gay television actress suffering the first awkward steps of online dating after a bad breakup, as seen through her correspondence with her best friend Audrey (Anna Chatterton). It's further proof of what little difference there is between gay and straight people - because virtually everyone, American or Canadian, who has ever tried online dating has been where Simone is. After a successful first run of five episodes, a second season was completed in Fall 2010, and while we're waiting - maybe just a BIT impatiently - for the editing to be completed, Rosemary will be talking to me about the show, the cast, her own experiences with online dating, and what to expect from Season Two. | 2/17/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

They're Just Getting Started - "We Have to Stop Now" Stars Jill Bennett, Cathy DeBuono & Ann Noble - Feb 04,2011 | Having spent the past month discussing two of the biggest fandoms in popular literature, F4F Radio changes gears in February and March by returning to the theme of webseries. We kick off the month with an extra-special segment on one of the most successful webseries in the lesbian online community, "We Have to Stop Now". A look at two therapists and marriage experts who have managed to damage their own relationship almost beyond repair, WHTSN debuted in February 2009 and was an instant hit, helped in part by its considerable star power. Lead actresses Jill Bennett and Cathy DeBuono were already well-known from films like "Out at the Wedding" and "And Then Came Lola", while costar Suzanne Westenhoefer made history as the first openly lesbian stand-up comedian to perform on television. Of course, no amount of famous faces would have made Season Two possible in 2010 if it wasn't for the great writing by creator and costar Ann Noble. And F4F Radio was lucky enough to get Ann, Jill, AND Cathy to agree to sit for an interview. We'll talk about their experiences making WHTSN, as well as some of their other best work, and the current state of lesbian-oriented filmmaking on both the Internet and the big screen. And we'll be joined by my cohost Della Street, who was herself a guest in 2010 to discuss her writing in fandoms like "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Facts of Life". The show starts at 10 PM EST / 7 PM PST and should run for about an hour. | 2/3/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Twilight Spotlight - Authors Jocelyn Torrent & Beth Bluth, with cohost JeanGreyX - Jan 21,2011 | Now that we’ve discussed Harry Potter, F4F Radio continues with January’s theme of femslash in literature targeting teenage audiences by talking about Twilight. Much like Harry Potter, Twilight got its start as a series of bestselling novels set in the world of the supernatural, written by an unknown female author, attracting millions of adult as well as teenage fans. Much like Harry Potter, Twilight became a hugely successful series of movies based on the novel that continues to this day. That being said, whereas few people have had much negative to say about the Harry Potter books, beyond the occasional wacko who sees Satan-worshipping everywhere around them, the Twilight novels have as many detractors as they do fans. And to be honest, the stories sometimes do seem to invite parody – I mean, vampires that SPARKLE? Sometimes, however, being a detractor can be just as inspirational for fanfic writers as being a fan. Tonight we’ll be talking to two authors who scorned the Team Edward vs. Team Jacob debate, choosing Team Alice instead. My guests are Jocelyn Torrent, who wrote epic Alice/Bella stories like “The Stay” and “Forever”, and Beth Bluth, author of the Alice/Bella novella “The Looking Glass”. Joining me as my co-host will be Twilight fan JeanGreyX, who previously was my co-host for my show on the DC Universe. We’ll be talking about Bella, Alice, Rosalie, the books, the movies, and why thinking Stephanie Meyer is a bad author doesn’t disqualify you from being a great Twilight author yourself. | 1/20/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Magical New Year - "Harry Potter" Authors RedBearGrl and D. Geheimnis - Jan 07,2011 | Femslash4Fans Radio rings in the new year with a bookish theme in January. Well look at two of the past decades biggest crazes in literature and film among teenage audiences, starting with tonights show on the Harry Potter universe. With seven bestselling, critically praised novels that managed to spread to all ages, and a series of successful Hollywood movies that even now has yet to reach the end, Harry Potter also spawned a huge and vibrant online fandom - occasionally a little TOO vibrant. The majority of fans shipped pairings like Harry/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, and Ron/Hermione - oh boy, did they ship them - but well be looking at the equally passionate HP femslash community. Our two guests this evening will be RedBearGrl, who wrote the big two-parters "Witches in Times" and "A Dragons Tale" featuring Hermione/Ginny, and D. Geheimnis, author of the Hermione/Fleur fic "Aucune Defense Pour Toi". Well be joined yet again by co-host Dreiser, who herself is known in the fandom for writing the Hermione/Fleur story "No Defense For You", upon which D. Geheimnis fic was based. Well talk about the appeal of femslash pairings involving Hermione and many other women in the HP universe, and what it was like being part of a community where some people took defending their OTP to a whole new level. | 1/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Writers Whose Work is More Diverse Than a Thanksgiving Dinner - Della Street - Nov 19,2010 | Femslash4Fans Radio has prepared something special in the last show before the Thanksgiving holiday, even more special than pumpkin pie or jello mold. Joining the ranks of past guests like Fembuck, Dreiser and Sharon Bowers - whose work was too well-written and diverse to be limited to a single fandom - Della Street has been a talented and prolific author in some of the Internet's most popular femslash communities. I've wanted to have Street on my show for over a year now, but it was only after she recently returned to the Internet to begin writing fanfic for the TNT drama "Rizzoli & Isles" that I got my chance. Call it an early Christmas gift for everyone involved. We'll be focusing on the four shows where she's made the biggest contributions - "Xena: Warrior Princess", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (where she was better known as D.S.), "Star Trek: Enterprise", and best of all, "Facts of Life". Joining us will be my co-host Harriet, who was herself a past guest on my show for the "L&O:SVU" show this past December. | 11/18/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The DC Universe - Subtext Becoming Canon (in Spandex), with Authors Merfilly and Rysler - Nov 05,2010 | Several months ago we spoke to three very talented authors whose work writing Barbara/Helena femslash had elevated the television series "Birds of Prey" - which was, to be honest, not a very well-written show - to a level beyond what it had ever achieved on the WB. This week we will be getting to the root source of the TV program, and beyond, as we look at lesbian pairings in the DC Universe as a whole. Populated with some of the most beautiful and accomplished heroines in comics, as well as equally stunning and dangerous villainesses, the DCU is fertile ground for femslash. The original Birds of Prey alone - Oracle, Huntress, and Black Canary - gets you three popular pairings on its own. And look past that - youll find canon lesbian/bi characters like Batwoman, The Question, Scandal Savage, Knockout, Thunder, and Grace. Not to mention the slashy subtext of couples like Batgirl/Spoiler, Harley/Ivy, and Raven/Starfire. And did I mention Themiscyra, home to Wonder Woman, Hippolyta, a ton of Amazons, and not one single guy? Recognizing that theres simply too many possibilities to restrict this shows focus to one pairing, Ive invited two prolific authors who have plenty of experience with many of the names Ive already mentioned, and some I havent. Over the years Merfilly has written too many femslash and het stories and drabbles to count, while Rysler has slashed all of the Birds of Prey (even Lady Blackhawk) with each other, found plenty of time to fit Lady Shiva into the group, and even provided a home for the Birds of Prey Fan Fiction E-Books site. Joining me as co-host will be first-time guest JeanGreyX, longtime F4F listener, DCU reader, and Barbara/Helena fan. | 11/4/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

More Murders, More Women - "Rizzoli & Isles" Fan Authors The Raven and Killcommonsense, with Dreiser - Oct 24,2010 | This week F4F returns to the world of televised crime drama as we look at a show that has generated a new but quite popular fandom starring Angie Harmon as a beautiful homicide detective with a best friend in the coroner's office . . . wait a minute, didn't I do this show before? No, of course not, I'm talking about "Rizzoli & Isles" on TNT, but you may be forgiven for thinking of the short-lived drama "Women's Murder Club". Well, despite the similarities, Jane Rizzoli is not Lindsay Boxer, and Maura Isles isn't Claire or Cindy or any of the others. The Jane/Maura pairing became an instant hit from the moment Episode One premiered, and we'll be talking with two of the authors who helped propel the relationship forward - Killcommonsense, writer of the ongoing R-rated "Getting There", and The Raven, author of multiple stories including "Madhouse Mix" and "Sins of the Father". Joining me also will be Dreiser, making her third appearance on this show as a co-host to go with her three times as a guest. | 10/24/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Boy Hero Not Required - Legend of the Seeker with Ivanolix, Seriousfic, and cohost Fembuck - Oct 15,2010 | Having spent September in a foreign land as we discussed anime and manga, Femslash4Fans Radio moves to another universe in October as we talk about the now-defunct syndicate drama "Legend of the Seeker". Based upon the novels of Terry Goodkind and produced by the same people responsible for "Xena: Warrior Princess", LotS deals with a familiar story - evil tyrant, good sorceror, young man meant for great things, magic sword, damsel in distress, etc, etc. You know, a tale of wizards and warriors in a medieval land, trying to save the world. Well, except for that "damsel in distress" part. Kahlan the Mother Confessor needs no saving, and Cara the Mord'Sith . . . did I forget to mention the Mord'Sith, a society of women warriors with cruel weapons, magical immunity, and those tight maroon leather outfits? Amazons of Greece, eat your hearts out! Anyway, Cara and Kahlan need no Seeker or wizard to protect them. And some fans would argue that they don't need any men at all. We'll talk to two authors about Cara/Kahlan and the other lovely femslash pairings of LotS - Ivanolix, writer of the AU fic "No Fate But Which We Make", and Seriousfic, author of such stories as "Only Torture If It Hurts" and "Mord'Sith Are Always the Big Spoon". Joining me as my co-host will be the experienced fanfic author Fembuck, herself a guest on this show in 2009. | 10/14/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Midnight Cowgirl – Creators of “Cowgirl Up” Nancylee Myatt & Christin Mell, w/ star Mandy Musgrave - Oct 06,2010 | This week Femslash4Fans airs on a special night to return to the world of webseries. Last year you heard my interview with Nancylee Myatt, creator of the lesbian police drama and greatest-cult-classic-to-never-air “Nikki & Nora”. Later you tuned in to listen to my chat with Christin Mell, who along with Nicole Valentine created the website Tellofilms.com. This time I’ll be speaking with both Myatt and Mell, now that they’ve joined forces to produce “Cowgirl Up”, an all-girl Western webseries which starts filming this month. Joining in will be actress Mandy Musgrave, best known for playing Ashley on "South of Nowhere" and now appearing on "Cowgirl Up" as Dakota. We’ll talk about the ongoing challenge in trying to create, finance, and market an independent webseries, and why in some ways it’s still preferable to network television. I’ll be joined this evening by co-host Inspector Boxer, who was a guest during my shows on “Women’s Murder Club” and “Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles”. | 10/5/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The Power to Revolutionize Radio - Utena Authors Sean Gaffney & Alan Harnum, w/ cohost TempestDash - Oct 01,2010 | Femslash4Fans Radio continues its look at anime and manga in September with a specific look at one of yuri's oldest and largest fandoms. Revolutionary Girl Utena, which first aired in Japan in 1997 and reached American shores a couple years later, is the tale of Utena Tenjou, a tomboyish high school student who accidentally finds herself mixed up in a bizarre society of duellists, all competing for "ownership" of Anthy Himemiya, the so-called "Rose Bride" thought to be key to the "Power to Revolutionize the World". Whether you were experiencing the series, the movie, or the manga, Revolutionary Girl Utena was at turns existential, allegorical, and just plain weird - what the hell were those shadow girls anyway? There were also more than enough opportunities for fans of lesbian storylines to see the romantic possibilities between Utena and Anthy, not to mention perhaps a secondary pairing with Juri Arisugawa and Shiori Takatsuki. We'll speak with two authors who dealt with such possibilities - Sean Gaffney, who wrote several stories including the "Release/Deep/In Hiding" trilogy, and Alan Harnum, author of the unfinished epic "Jaquemart". Joining me will be my co-host TempestDash, a one-time guest on my "Kim Possible" show and a past fanfic author in fandoms like "Sailor Moon" and "Bubblegum Crisis". | 9/30/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

An Anime-ted Conversation - Yuricon's Erica Friedman with co-host Dreiser - Sep 17,2010 | This month Femslash4Fans finally embraces a broad segment of lesbian fan fiction on the Internet that we've only scratched the surface on - anime and manga. With a year having already gone by since my segment on Mai-HiME, in September F4F will be doing two shows on anime/manga femslash, or more accurately "yuri". And when you think yuri, you think of Yuricon, the anime/manga convention that has been running since the turn of the millenium. And THAT naturally leads to thoughts of tonight's guest, Yuricon creator Erica Friedman. Starting small in 2000 with a virtual convention called AniLesboCon, it wasn't long before Friedman not only turned this into the Yuricon we know today, but also launched ALC Publishing, which has introduced many Americans to manga with its own original content, as well as English translations of Japanese comics. And if that wasn't enough, she writes the yuri review blog Okazu. Oh yeah, and she may have written some fanfic of her own too. Dreiser makes her second appearance on F4F as a co-host, as together we ask Friedman about all of the above, and more. How did it all get started, how are things now, and where does she see it all going? | 9/16/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Good Guests and "Bad Girls" - Authors Cabenson and Theholyinnocent, with co-host Fewthistle - Aug 27,2010 | Femslash4Fans continues its salute in August to British TV shows with a segment on the hugely successful series "Bad Girls". Set in, of all things, a women's prison, "Bad Girls" ran for eight seasons, but we'll be spending much of our time focusing on the first three. The storyline featuring the lesbian relationship between wrongly convicted cop-killer Nikki and prison warden Helen, which built gradually over Seasons 1-3 until its satisfying conclusion, remains one of the most popular and best-written canon pairings ever seen on television. I'll talk about Nikki/Helen, along with other canon and noncanon pairings from the entire run, with my two guests - creator of the definitive Nikki/Helen Manifesto, Cabenson; and longtime author Theholyinnocent, also known as Xena fanfic writer Vivian Darkbloom. This time joining me as co-host will be "Bad Girls" fan Fewthistle, who previously appeared on F4F as a guest on my "Guiding Light" episode. | 8/26/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

F4F Back with Friends - Murder in Suburbia authors Erin Griffin and Claire Gough w/ co-host Dreiser - Aug 13,2010 | Femslash4Fans finally makes a long-overdue return from its hiatus with its first-ever look at British television. While "Murder in Suburbia" only ran for twelve episodes in the U.K. in 2004-2005, it continues to inspire fans on both sides of the Atlantic, thanks to the partnership of Detective Inspector Kate "Ash" Ashurst and Detective Sergeant Emma "Scribbs" Scribbins. After all, perhaps the reason neither ever seemed to find the right man was because they already found the right woman. Certainly the fanfic authors who have kept the community alive thought so. And two of them will be joining me tonight - Claire Gough, author of the "Turning Point" series; and Erin Griffin, who wrote the amnesiac story "Fallen". Also joining me will be the first of a series of familiar voices who will help me out greatly by appearing as co-hosts. Dreiser was previously a guest on F4F for "Mai-HiME", "All My Children", and the anniversary special. | 8/12/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Because Two Hours of "Xena" Really Isn't Enough - Authors SX Meagher, Redhawk, and Kim Pritekel - Jun 15,2010 | In January 2010 I hosted my first-ever show specifically to discuss the "Xena: Warrior Princess" fandom, and I had a wonderful time with guests Melissa Good, KG MacGregor, and Linda Crist. Normally I devote only a single show to a specific fandom, moving on to other fandoms which are always waiting their turn. In this instance, however, I encountered two facts. One, the listeners really wanted a second show. And two, the fandom is so enormous and the number of great authors is so HIGH, that to only speak with three authors cant even be considered "scratching the surface". Consequently Ill be hosting my second two-hour Xena episode on this night (and okay, you didnt really have to twist my arm very much). This time my guests will be the following, all of whom are both fanfic writers and published authors: Susan X. Meagher, best known for the long-running "San Francisco Series", as well as popular novels like "Arbor Vitae" and "All That Matters"; D. Jordan Redhawk, the writer of "Tiopa Ki Lakota", "Iditarod", and the "Infinity Series"; and writer/filmmaker Kim Pritekel, whose stories include "First", "Control", "Wild", and the upcoming novel "1049 Club". | 6/14/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Anyone Can Be - Listening to my Discussion of "Anyone But Me" with Director Tina Cesa Ward - May 11,2010 | This week's segment continues a series on lesbian webseries which started last week with my interview of Angela Robinson and Alexandra Kondracke from "Girltrash!". Since 2002, Tina Cesa Ward has won awards for both her stage direction and her short films, but her biggest claim to fame may be her creation of "Anyone But Me", the hit webseries about a teenage girl trying to adjust to a move to the suburbs and, more importantly, away from New York City and her girlfriend. The series is currently in its second season on the Internet, and Ward has been its director and co-author from the very first episode. In that time she has earned Best Writer and Director nominations for the 2010 Streamy Awards, while the series itself has picked up honors for Best Writing and Best Drama at the 14th Annual Webby Awards and a Best Actress in a Drama Streamy for Rachel Hip-Flores. Our interview will touch upon all aspects of the first two seasons, including the series development, the advertising campaign, and the future for Vivian, Aster and Sophie. We'll also talk about Ward's other directorial efforts and what may be in store for her next. | 5/11/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Getting the Dirt on Girltrash's Angela Robinson and Alexandra Kondracke - May 08,2010 | For all the dissatisfaction of fans concerning the relative lack of lesbian storylines on network television, the fact remains that there are a lot of opportunities out there for talented authors to bring their creations to life. And I've had the opportunity to speak to people who have pursued many different paths. From the femslash authors like Fembuck, to the uberfic writers and novelists like Melissa Good, to even the TV writers like Nancylee Myatt, there are plenty of people out there who are creating the content that fans such as you and I demand. In this week's very special segment one of my guests has successfully pursued a path none of my past guests have - screenwriting. I'm honored to have on my show the writer/director Angela Robinson, whose webshort "D.E.B.S." became the motion picture of the same name. (C'mon, you know you've seen it. You've all seen it.) She went on to direct "Herbie: Fully Loaded", then write, produce, and direct episodes of "The L Word", and is now a consulting producer of the HBO series "Hung", which begins its second season in late June. But she may currently be most famous for writing and producing the popular lesbian webseries "Girltrash", which brought together an edgy script and fan favorite actresses from shows like "South of Nowhere", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and "The L Word". We'll talk about her past projects, as well as the new Internet feature film "Girltrash: All Night Long", currently in post-production. We'll also be joined by Alexandra Kondracke, fellow "L Word" writer and director of "Girltrash: All Night Long". And we won't talk about Lindsay, so it'll be a win-win and much fun all around. | 5/8/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Sharon Bowers Interview - Part Two - May 07,2010 | Due to minor health issues and the difficulty of reconciling busy schedules with a three-hour time difference, the interview with Girltrash's Angela Robinson and Alex Kondracke has been postponed exactly one week to Thursday, May 13th, at 10 PM EST. As a replacement, tonight will feature the second part of last week's interview with Sharon Bowers, which had gone unexpectedly long. | 5/6/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Renaissance Woman - Author, Scholar and Speaker Sharon Bowers - Apr 30,2010 | While typically my show focuses on specific fandoms and interviews qualified individual authors from within the community, occasionally I'll speak with a single person whose work spans several different fandoms, someone who can't be pinned down to a specific pairing. Having done such shows with authors Harper and Fembuck, I'll be doing my third such installment with writer Sharon Bowers. Sharon has written many stories for pairings like Diane Russell/Jill Kirkendall (NYPD Blue), Kerry Weaver/Kim Legaspi (E.R.) and Xena/Gabrielle (Xena: Warrior Princess), as well as intriguing crossovers such as Dana Scully/Clarice Starling (X-Files/Silence of the Lambs) and Abbie Carmichael/Jill Kirkendall (Law & Order/NYPD Blue). She also found time in between writing fanfic to pen a successful original novel, "Lucifer Rising", as well as publish scholarly essays on "NYPD Blue" and "Desperate Housewives". Then there are her future endeavors planned for the ladies of Gotham. AND she's spoken at pop culture conferences on subjects like "The L Word" and "Fastlane". I'll definitely need the full hour to cover all of these topics with tonight's guest, and I hope you'll spend that time with us. | 4/29/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Because I Can't Interview Myself - A Reading of My Story "Defying Sanity" by myself and GlassOfWin - Apr 16,2010 | This week - say it with me - "we'll be doing something a little bit different". I said last year that I wanted to redo Kim Possible, Gargoyles, and Harley/Ivy at some point, because when I did those shows originally, it was a different format and I wanted to include other authors. I was able to pull this off with the first two shows, but the trouble with Harley/Ivy is that while there are several authors who have written good stories about this pairing, it's much, much harder finding someone whose body of Harley/Ivy work is comparable to the caliber of author I generally have on my program. And obviously I can't interview MYSELF. So tonight I'll be trying something else. I will be giving a live reading of my Harley/Ivy fic "Defying Sanity", which is probably my favorite story that I've written in over nine years. I'll be joined by fellow Batman fan and Blogtalkradio personality Rachael, host of the radio show "Glass of Win". We'll also take some time prior to the reading where I'll talk to Rachael, who has discussed several different Gotham-related topics with her listeners over the course of her program, about her own feelings about Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and their lives and loves. | 4/15/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Lesbian Doctors B.C. (Before Callie) - E.R., Kerry Weaver, and Authors Georgia Beers and Susan P - Apr 02,2010 | Perhaps Dr. Kerry Weaver (Laura Innes) wasn't always the most likeable person on television. Maybe she occasionally did things that were a bit reprehensible to further her career. But Kerry was also a prominent cast member on the NBC drama "E.R.", one of the longest-running series of all time. And more importantly for the purposes of this program, in Season 7 she was a woman dealing with the pressures of being a closeted lesbian after becoming briefly involved with psychiatrist Kim Legaspi (Elizabeth Mitchell). That led to her outing in Season 8, and a relationship with firefighter Sandy Lopez (Lisa Vidal) that played out on our television screens for three years. Naturally, as one of the very, VERY few shows with multiple lesbian characters (let's not forget Maggie Doyle) on commercial TV at the turn of the millennium, E.R. instantly became a popular fandom for femslash fanfic authors. Co-host Lara Zielinsky and I will be speaking with two of those authors tonight. One is Georgia Beers, author of such Kerry/Kim fics as "Admissions" and "Mendings". And the other is Susan P., who has paired Kerry with Sandy, Kim, Abby, Randi . . . shall I go on? We'll talk about their work, along with how accurate the depiction of lesbians really was on E.R., why there don't seem to be a lot more on TV now than there were then, and why Kerry/Kim was so popular, considering Kerry was with Sandy much longer. | 4/1/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Girls on Film - Christin Baker and Nicole Valentine from Tellofilms.com - Mar 26,2010 | When lesbians and other gay and straight fans of stories involving two women in love want to read their favorite stories, they don’t go to the major bookseller chains. More and more frequently, they turn to the Internet, where they can find independent booksellers and fan fiction archives. When those same people want to see similar material on television, they don’t go to the big screen in their entertainment center. (Not unless they enjoy punishment.) They go to the Internet too, and one of the sites they visit is Tellofilms.com. Founded in 2008, Tellofilms is sort of like a Youtube for lesbians, as members are encouraged to post original films, webisodes, and other visual material for others to see. Its success can be measured by the over 700 different videos that can currently be seen there, and by the new and improved website that was just launched. I’ll be speaking with Christin Baker and Nicole Valentine, who first came up with the idea for Tellofilms three years ago, and run the site to this day. | 3/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

The "Gilmore Girls" Find Love in Paris (Geller) - Authors MrSchmipf and UbiquitousMixie - Mar 19,2010 | Granted, being a dramatic series on the WB television network at the beginning of the 21st-century meant having little experience with high ratings (as you try desperately to attract an audience that would get you cancelled after thirteen episodes on NBC) and critical acclaim (example #1 - zero Emmy nominations for Season Five of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"). But "Gilmore Girls", which lasted a whopping six seasons (seven if you count the last one, which many try not to) on a fifth-place network, and helped make stars out of Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, came about as close as a WB show could get to being high-rated and critically acclaimed. Fans loved the complicated family drama of single mother Lorelai Gilmore and her parents Emily and Richard. And lets not forget daughter Rorys love triangle with Dean and Jess . . . well, actually many fans would love to forget Dean and Jess (ESPECIALLY Dean), and focus more attention on Paris (Liza Weil) Geller. At first Rorys archrival at school, but later her best friend there, Paris quickly became a favorite thanks to her personality and wit, not to mention a popular match for Rory with femslash authors everywhere. Tonight Ill talk with two of them - MrSchimpf, creator of the epic (and at times intensely erotic) "Longing With a Cherry Tomato on Top" series; and author of the two-part "A Little Satisfaction" UbiquitousMixie. Well talk about the appeal of Rory/Paris, as well as the more forbidden pairing of Lorelai/Paris. | 3/18/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Authors Savior, Jaina & Apatija- Rachel Morgan Femslash (& Why Kim Harrison Keeps Jerking Us Around) - Mar 14,2010 | Deeply in love, Ivy is repeatedly frustrated by her partner's atrocious taste in men, yet always comes back to her . . . wait a minute, this isn't my Poison Ivy/Harley Quinn show. This is my show on the "Dead Witch Walking" series written by Kim Harrison, now eight books and still going strong. But that doesn't mean there aren't similarities. The ultimate "will-they-or-won't-they", the close friendship and working relationship of the stubbornly straight witch Rachel Morgan and the very bisexual vampire Ivy Tamwood continues to dance teasingly close to romance - yet always infuriatingly steps away again. And Harrison's public statements on the subject are frequently belied by the words she writes. (Seriously, if they're not going to hook up, then stop making it look like they are.) Fortunately, none of that has stopped talented fanfic authors from pulling Rachel's head out of her ass and giving Ivy what she's been waiting for. We'll talk to three of those authors - Jaina, whose stories include "Return to the Hollows" and "Let Sleeping Vamps Lie"; Savior, author of the ongoing novella "Entre l'amour et la mort"; and Apatija, writer of the "Kitchen is Mine" series. There will also be a discussion of "Black Magic Sanction", the latest installment which was just published on February 23rd, 2010, and what (if anything) it means for our hopes for Rachel/Ivy in the future. | 3/14/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Office Party - Fellow Blogtalkradio Host and Author Lara Zielinsky - Mar 05,2010 | In case you ever wondered, Femslash4Fans is not the only program on Blogtalkradio.com that talks with the creators of lesbian-oriented fiction. Tonight's guest is my fellow host Lara Zielinsky, whose show "Readings in Lesbian and Bisexual Women's Fiction" has been in existence even longer than this program. Zielinsky got her start, like so many others, in the Xena: Warrior Princess fandom, where she began writing fanfic and uberfic under the name LZClotho. That experience eventually led to the novel "Turning Point", published in 2007 under her real name, followed by the soon-to-be-released sequel "Turn For Home". And when she's not writing, she's hosting her bimonthly radio show, where she "shares excerpts and interviews with authors and others involved in the writing and publication of lesbian and bisexual women's fiction". In this show she'll make the switch from host to guest, as we discuss her fanfic, her novels, her background, and the inspirations for her life as an author and radio personality. | 3/4/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Two-For-One Stargate Deal - SG-1 Authors Ocean Gazer & Dhamphir, and Atlantis Writer Manda - Feb 26,2010 | While the sci-fi programs "Stargate: SG-1" and "Stargate: Atlantis" may have ended their runs relatively recently, compared to some of the shows we've talked about in 2010, the femslash community for these shows is just as old and just as successful. The roots of the "Stargate" series stretch all the way back to the original motion picture released in 1994, followed by a string of three related TV spinoffs, beginning with "SG-1" in 1997. And as for the femslash, well, it didn't take long for stories to spring up pairing Samantha Carter with Janet Frasier. Even if you're not familiar with Stargate, you've probably come across Sam/Janet fics a time or two over the years. So it was only natural for that tradition to continue with "Atlantis", as fans fell in love with women like Elizabeth Weir, Teyla Emmagan, and Laura Cadman. (One can feel confident that this trend has probably already continued with the new "Stargate: Universe", especially given the fact that recurring character Camille Wray is openly gay.) We'll talk to three of these dedicated authors during tonight's show - from SG-1, "Lines in the Sand" and "Imitations" author Ocean Gazer, and new but prolific writer Dhamphir; and from Atlantis, creator of the "Time" series, Manda. | 2/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Panelists Misty Flores, Bebitched, Kben & Ficmail Discuss (Lack of) Sitcom Femslash - Feb 19,2010 | This Week with David Brinkley . . . well, no, he's dead, and there sure as hell ain't no George Will here. But the format remains the same. "This week" I'll be moderating a panel of past guests and new ones, and we'll be discussing the dearth of femslash fanfic out there for TV sitcoms. I've talked with authors about many dramas, and several cartoons, but only one sitcom (Facts of Life). And there's not a whole lot more out there to talk about. Are lesbians just not funny? Are we writers the not funny ones? Or is the "com" in "sitcom" creating hangups? My fellow panelists will be first-timer Bebitched, who created a Livejournal community for femslash pairings from NBC's "The Office"; "Facts of Life" guest Misty Flores; "Glee" guest Kben; and "Birds of Prey" guest Ficmail. Together we'll discuss fledgling fandoms like "The Office", "Scrubs", "Better Off Ted", and "Parks & Recreation, as well as why Jo/Blair from "Facts of Life" seems to be the only sitcom pairing from that era to gain any sort of traction with readers. | 2/18/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Now (Star Trek) Voyager - Cohost DiNovia & Authors Lisa Countryman, Katrina Blau & Evilbunyovrlord - Feb 12,2010 | Having recently discussed Xena: Warrior Princess on my show, F4F turns to another fandom that continues to live on despite the fact that the original series ended its run in the spring of 2001. "Star Trek: Voyager" was UPNs flagship program when the network debuted, the first Trek to air on prime-time since the original series, and the only show to survive UPNs disastrous first season. It went on to last for a highly influential seven seasons, introducing such firsts as the first female Starfleet captain and the first Borg cast member. (Not to mention, first Borg to become an instant sex symbol.) And fittingly, Voyager was the first Trek series to have a large femslash following in the fanfic community, most of it centering on its three most popular female characters - Kathryn Janeway, BElanna Torres, and Seven of Nine. Ill be talking to three of the most successful authors from that community - "Wonders of the House Presba" coauthor Katrina Blau; "She Who Hesitates" writer Lisa Countryman, and extremely prolific author Evilbunyovrlord. Only this time, Im going to have help. DiNovia, who earlier appeared as a guest during my Otalia discussion, has graciously agreed to lend me her experience as the writer of Voyager fics like "Queen of Hearts" and serve as my cohost for this nights show. | 2/11/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Popular For Being "Popular" - Authors Carpesomediem and Green Quarter - Feb 05,2010 | In tonight's segment I revisit a fandom that was briefly touched upon last year during my interview with the author Fembuck. "Popular" was perhaps an ironic title, considering it only lasted two seasons on what was then a fifth-place network. (Well, actually it's still a fifth-place network, whether you call it the WB or the CW, but that's neither here nor there.) But maybe you gauge a show's popularity not by its ratings success, but rather in the number of years it maintains a hold on its fans. If that's the case, then "Popular" wasn't such a bad name after all. And nothing seems to be more popular about the show than the non-canon pairing of its two lead characters, Sam MacPherson (Carly Pope) and Brooke McQueen (Leslie Bibb). Granted, the romance may sound a bit unlikely. Two teenagers on opposite ends of the high school totem pole, forced to share a house and a bathroom when their parents suddenly marry. Yes, that's right, stepsisters. Despite these obstacles, or maybe because of them, multiple talented authors have appeared over the years to keep both Popular and Sam/Brooke alive. I'll be interviewing two of them tonight - Carpesomediem, who has written too many stories to list; and Green Quarter, author of the "Ever Fixed Mark" series. (Green Quarter cannot appear live, so she has supplied her answers in advance, and they will be read over the air by fellow author and past guest Grdnofevrythng.) | 2/4/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Femslash Archives - Second of a Two-Part Series on Femslash Fic Websites and Collections - Jan 29,2010 | Obviously fan fiction can't live without writers, but the people who help spread fanfic to the greatest number of people possible are almost as important. Thousands of authors host their own works at websites, Facebook pages, and Livejournals, but nothing makes life easier for the well-rounded readers, the ones willing to take the plunge into all kinds of new fandoms in the pursuit of good writing, than the people who are willing to make the extraordinary time commitment of creating websites that become the homes for hundreds, even thousands of stories, from dozens of fandoms. In this two-part series, we'll talk to several of these people, all of whom specialize in femslash fanfic. I'll speak to three in Part Two - Shadow, creator of the general femslash website "Realm of the Shadow"; Darkwoofe, creator of the site "Deviant Hearts", which specializes in animation; and TheNewHope, who created the LJ-community "Femslash_Today", a daily newsletter featuring all new femslash fic/art/videos on Livejournal. | 1/28/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Double Your Pleasure - Two Hours of "Xena" Authors Melissa Good, KG MacGregor, and Linda Crist - Jan 22,2010 | On a special two-hour episode of Femslash4Fans Radio, I'll be talking about quite possibly the oldest, biggest femslash fandom to still rule the Internet today, the one fandom you CAN'T leave out of the discussion. "Xena: Warrior Princess" was more than just a hit spinoff from "Hercules: the Legendary Journeys", one of the highest-rated shows in syndication during its six-year run. It also spawned an enormous fan base in the lesbian community with its two female leads, Xena and Gabrielle; their extremely close relationship; and the "are-they-or-aren't-they" vibe that writers teased audiences with throughout. Did I say vibe? By the later seasons it was practically a NEON SIGN. The writers were clearly aware of what the fans were saying, and rather than freak out and slap them down, the staff clearly played to a point just short of their expectations. Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor have made contributions to the fandom beyond their acting as well. There's also the impact the fandom had on the fanfic genre in general. Terms like "altfic", "uberfic" and "femslash" were basically a direct result of Xena/Gabrielle fans. For that reason, I've expanded the show by a full sixty minutes. Well, that and the fact that my guests are three of the longest, most successful, most prolific writers in the fandom, all of whom went on to become published authors in their own right. Tonight's show will feature Melissa Good, author of the "Journey of Soulmates" series and the "Tropical Storm" fics deaturing Dar/Kerry; KG MacGregor, creator of uberfic pairings like Anna/Lily from the "Shaken" stories and Spencer/Ruth from "Malicious Pursuit"; and Linda Crist, aka Texbard, who wrote "The Bluest Eyes in Texas" featuring Kennedy/Carson, as well as the "Between the Lines" vignettes and "Galveston 1900: Swept Away". | 1/21/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Callers' Choice - the Show the Common Cold Couldn't Stop Forever - Jan 15,2010 | The week before Thanksgiving, I planned to host a show without set topics or guests. The idea was that listeners could call in to discuss any femslash topic that was on their minds. Unfortunately, I became very sick that week and I was forced to cancel. This month, however, I'm bringing it back. Callers Decide. Is there a previous show you'd like to discuss? A topic for a future show? A great new story? Femslash on television? The LACK of femslash on television? RPFS? Original femslash programming on the web? Totally your call. Remember, passionate discourse on multiple topics from multiple callers will make this show great. No callers will make me do all the talking myself. Which would definitely not be "great". So be sure to bring your ideas with you this Thursday. | 1/14/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

New Year, New Gargoyles Chat - Authors Maggie the Cat and Mooncat - Jan 08,2010 | Last spring, listeners were "lucky" enough to hear me talk way too long about Disney's television series "Gargoyles", perhaps the most complex, three-dimensional, dramatic animated program to come out of their studio in its history. They got to hear me wax poetic about my own theories for the popularity of primary villainess Demona as a femslash character, while the people whose opinions mattered more were forced to relay their thoughts secondhand through a chat room. This time, however, the situation has been rectified. Much as I did last autumn with my second Kim Possible show, I'm kicking off 2010 with a second Gargoyles show where other, more successful and talented Gargoyles femslash authors are given the chance to sit down for an interview. We'll be talking with Maggie the Cat, one of two authors behind Gargoyles femslash pioneer Madame Destine, and Mooncat, writer of the erotic "Avatar Wars" series and co-writer of the unfinished masterpiece "To Protect and Serve". | 1/7/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Love on the Job - Law & Order: SVU's Olivia Benson, with authors D, Harriet, and sHaYcH - Dec 21,2009 | Earlier this year F4F did a series of shows on nothing but femslash from current and former televised crime dramas. One TV show that wasn't covered during that series, however, may be the most popular one of all - Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. You don't need a manifesto (although you'll have no difficulty finding one) to see why so many people 'ship pairings involving Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Strong, intelligent, absolutely beautiful, empathic, with her share of personal trauma, and not a whole lot of romantic history with other men. Oh, and did I mention the subtext? A group of fans, which has grown exponentially, almost immediately picked up on sexual tension between Olivia and ADA Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March) throughout their working relationship. Even the show's writers themselves have acknowledged that they know the fans are out there, and that they've been willing to indulge them. And speaking of writers . . . we'll be talking to three talented femslash authors during tonight's show. To talk about their Alex/Olivia fics will be "Live Like You Were Dying" author D, and creator of the "Spark" trilogy Harriet. And representing the fans who enjoy the pairing of Olivia with Cabot's replacement, ADA Casey Novak (Diane Neal), will be "Damaged Justice" writer sHaYcH. | 12/20/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

...and Baby Makes Three - Glee, Rachel/Quinn, and writers Kben, Sulkygeek, and Grdnofevrythng - Dec 18,2009 | On this weeks show Ill be discussing quite possibly the youngest, freshest femslash fan community ever to be discussed on F4F. Since premiering on FOX in the fall, "Glee" has proved to be a hit with youthful audiences across America - not to mention all those iTunes downloads and those Gleek videos on Youtube. A mixture of teachers lounge backstabbing, high school angst, and Broadway-influenced musical numbers, Glee makes its quota in both comedy and drama. Teenage pregnancy, homosexuality, outcasts being "Slushied" by the bullies - think "Veronica Mars" with less crime and more singing. (And hey, unlike Cop Rock or Viva Laughlin, the singing actually DOESNT break the fourth wall.) It has also made new faces like Lea Michele and Dianna Agron instantly famous on the Internet, and nowhere more so than among the Rachel/Quinn fans in the Glee online community. Even though the show has only been on for a few months, not counting one lonely episode at the tail end of American Idol earlier this year, multiple talented Rachel/Quinn authors (not to mention Santana/Brittany) have already surfaced. And Ill be talking with three of them - "Nothing Like Love to Pull You Up" and "Taking Chances" author Kben; writer of the ongoing "Honest Goodbyes" Sulkygeek; and Rachel/Quinn/Brittany/Santana . . . well, you get the idea . . . erotic author Grdnofevrythng. | 12/17/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

(Not) Just a Love Machine - Sarah Connor Chronicles Authors Zennie, Anklebones and Inspector Boxer - Dec 11,2009 | Since F4F began on Blogtalkradio, I've covered all kinds of popular pairings on the air. Cops. Criminals. Cops AND criminals. Doctors. Witches. Bosses and assistants. Superheroes. Stepsisters. In this segment, however, I'll be revisiting perhaps the most unusual pairing of all - humans and robots. And not just any robot either. Not that wimpy Bicentennial Man played by Robin Williams, or that little garbage compactor Wall-E. We're talking about Terminators, killing machines from the future brought to life in four Hollywood movies. And of course the topic at hand, the FOX drama "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles", which lasted an all-too-brief 1-1/2 seasons and which I discussed with Harper earlier this year. Sarah Connor may be a badass killing machine herself with a healthy paranoia when it comes to any number preceded by a T, but that didn't stop her from accepting the protection of Cameron, a newer model sent by the adult John Connor to the past to protect his younger self. (Okay, maybe "accept" is too strong a word.) And it hasn't stopped plenty of fans from becoming Sarah/Cameron 'shippers either. However aesthetically pleasing the thought of Lena Headey and Summer Glau together may be, the challenge for Sarah/Cameron authors is writing a story that takes a human who doesn't trust robots, and a robot who isn't exactly "programmed" for love, and making the pairing plausible, not just PWP smut. I'll be talking to three of the authors who have been among the most successful in this mission. Zennie wrote the "Mixed Emotions" series and the ongoing story "Gambit". Anklebones continues to write "Resistance" while creating random illustrations for her fellow authors. And "Women's Murder Club" guest Inspector Boxer returns to talk about her story "More Than a Mission" and the Terminator/Firefly fusion "No Rest for the Wicked". | 12/10/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

All My Children's Bianca - QQSuited, AM Glass, and Dreiser Disagree on Love - Nov 13,2009 | If you watch soap operas, then you know how couples are so rarely allowed to remain together for long. Certainly that was true of Bianca Montgomery from "All My Children". It wasnt easy for the first prominent lesbian in daytime soaps, as she lost girlfriends to repressive parents, psychopathic aunts, cancer-stricken mothers, and ones inability to make up their own damn mind. It wasnt easy for her femslash fans either. Yes, they got that lesbian wedding eventually. It was just hard to enjoy it when the fiancee - you know, the one we barely knew - had kissed a guy only the night before. (Seriously, was ANYBODY happy with that storyline?) Well, Bianca may have loved and lost and lost again at the hands of professional writers (and those darn sponsors), but over the years she was also given a "happily ever after" by hundreds of unpaid but devoted fan fiction authors. And three of the best will be on my show tonight. Well be discussing Biancas entire romantic history, but focusing on the three most prominent women in her love life. QQSuited has written volumes about the Bianca/Maggie relationship after they departed Pine Valley for Paris. A.M. Glass wrote the "Dear Miranda" series about the enduring love of an older Bianca and Lena reunited. And Dreiser rolled up her sleeves and created what AMC should have but didnt - the story of how Bianca and Reese fell in love. | 11/12/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Take the Good - "Facts of Life" and Jo/Blair with Del Robertson and Misty Flores - Nov 06,2009 | If you're like me, you probably didn't detect a whole lot of subtext when watching the sitcom "The Facts of Life", because it was only the early 1980s, homosexuality wasn't exactly acceptable subject matter for a show about teenage girls, and, well, you were seven years old. Even if you were seven, though, you were probably still like every guy on that show - you found Blair Warner irresistible. As you grew older, however, you discovered that some women found her irresistible as well. And the idea of a Blair/Jo Polniaczek romantic pairing even more so. Whether it's because you see them as the ultimate butch/femme couple, or because of the "opposites attract" thing, or just because they seemed to work together so well in spite of the apparent differences, Jo/Blair continues to be a popular source of Facts of Life fanfic - perhaps the only source these days - over twenty years after the show ended. Tonight we'll talk with two experienced Jo/Blair authors, Del Robertson and Misty Flores, about when they first saw the Jo/Blair friendship in a different light, the comparative appeal of Jo/Blair when they were teenagers vs. adults, whether or not Natalie or Tootie might one day get a femslash of their very own, and why they think a 25-year-old sitcom like Facts of Life continues to draw 'shippers even today - unlike, say, Mr. Belvedere. | 11/5/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Birds of Prey II - "Doppelganger" author Ficmail Beats the Buzzer - Nov 05,2009 | See description of first Birds of Prey show with North and BG. Ficmail2004 was one of my original invitees to be on that show, but she didn't find out until less than 24 hours after airing. Since I had really hoped to speak with her, I'm making an exception by doing this tiny Wednesday show. Consider this an additional fifteen minutes to the October 29th show. Anybody who wishes to contact Ficmail2004 about her story Doppelganger can reach her at hawkbehere@yahoo.com | 11/4/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Birds of Prey - North and BG Share Barbara/Helena With Us - Oct 30,2009 | All right, so it lasted only thirteen episodes, nowhere near as long as Smallville, the show whose success on The WB helped spawn it. And maybe it wasn't the critics' favorite that year. And I suppose many of the main characters were just a bit different from their comic-book counterparts. None of that ever stopped Birds of Prey fans from their undying devotion to Oracle and Huntress. You think Batman and Robin had something going on? That's nothing compared to the subtexty relationship between mentor Barbara Gordon and protege Helena Kyle. (No, not Bertinelli, Kyle. Just go with it.) And if perhaps the writing wasn't always great, that just means there are plenty of fan fiction authors out there who took up the challenge, sought to do better than the source material that inspired them - and succeeded. We'll be talking to two of them this night - North, who wrote stories like "Poison" and "Strain" that drew extra inspiration from the show's comic-book roots, and BG, author of the massive "Elemental" series and a writer whose work reflected the knowledge that Harley Quinn was much more than a ruthless sociopath. We'll talk to them about the show, about the comics, and about why the romance between a super-powered crime fighter and a paraplegic computers genius has endured for so long. Also, be sure to check out my November 4th interview with fellow BoP author Ficmail2004, who wanted to be a part of this show but only found out about it a few hours too late. | 10/29/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Nikki & Nora's Nancylee Myatt, Christina Cox, and Liz Vassey Answer Your Questions - Oct 23,2009 | Normally I don't devote two full episodes of this program to a single fandom. Certainly I don't normally do it in the same month. In the wake of the October 1st discussion of Nikki & Nora, however, we're taking one more spin around the New Orleans city block on October 22nd for a very special occasion. On this show I'll be talking with the three people that N&N fans associate with the show most - creator/writer Nancylee Myatt and stars Christina Cox and Liz Vassey. It's going to be an unusual show in more ways than one. Not only will it be the first time I've interviewed actual celebrities for my show instead of fan authors, not only will the show run longer than sixty minutes, but it will also be the first time where every single question will have been asked prior to airing. Due to scheduling conflicts that prevent all three of my guests from appearing in person, the entire interview has been conducted via email, and their answers will be read over the air by devoted N&N fans. Those questions aren't just from me, either - most of them are from the fans themselves. And to top it all off, my guests have expressed a willingness to answer questions about other projects. That means television programs like CSI, Blood Ties, Defying Gravity, and South of Nowhere are all on the table. So be sure to tune in - there's no telling what you might find out about your favorite pairing. | 10/22/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Kim Possible - King in Yellow, Sobriety, and TempestDash Discuss PG-Rated Lovers in a G-Rated World - Oct 16,2009 | Even after being canceled a few years ago, Disney's Kim Possible continues to be one of the busiest and most popular fandoms in American animation today. A successful combination of action and comedy with a healthy dose of female empowerment, the animated series eventually attracted a devoted audience far wider than just the target demographic of 8- to 13-year-olds. Not since Gargoyles in the mid-1990s has a Disney program had a fan following with almost as many adult fans as children. And of course, since adults are much more likely to begin 'shipping romantic pairings than children are, it wasn't long before main characters Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable fell in love in thousands of fanfics. Naturally plenty of alternate pairings followed, but none captured people's hearts, or provoked such controversy and debate, like the good girl/bad girl femslash pairing of Kim and nemesis Shego. Since 2004 dozens of fanfic authors (including, I'm proud to say, yours truly) have helped Kim/Shego, quickly dubbed "Kigo", grow from just another niche pairing to the second-biggest couple in the fandom. We'll talk to three of them tonight - King in Yellow, author of the ongoing episodic Best Enemies series; Sobriety, writer of such recent classics as "Most Wanted" and "Best Sidekick Possible"; and TempestDash, who wrote "A Period of Silence" and the will-they-won't-they "Possibility Engine". | 10/15/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Back to the Beginning - The Rainbow Writers, Willow/Tara, & "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" Femslash - Oct 09,2009 | We'll be taking a trip back in time to one of the first, greatest canon lesbian pairings on network television - Willow/Tara from the WB's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". It was all the way back during the 1999-2000 season when we first were charmed by Tara Maclay in "Hush", when we first fell in love along with Willow Rosenberg in "New Moon Rising". A year later we cheered when they shared their first onscreen kiss in "The Body". And a year after that the righteous fury poured forth when Tara was - well, you know. We'll be talking about those days with two of the most prolific Willow/Tara authors out there, the collaborative team known as the Rainbow Writers. We'll discuss their sizable body of work, including "The Circle Series", "Safe in her Arms", and what the future holds for their readers. | 10/8/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Beating the Odds #1 - Nikki & Nora, the Show That (Almost) Never Was, and Author Silk - Oct 02,2009 | In the first of a two-part series on unlikely femslash successes, we'll discuss Nikki & Nora, the biggest femslash TV pairing that was never on TV. Featuring two lead actresses as New Orleans police detectives who are partners in the bedroom as well as in the squadroom, N&N inevitably attracted a great deal of attention from the gay & lesbian media when UPN announced the pilot. That saved N&N from obscurity when UPN chose not to pick the pilot up for a full series. Rather than being consigned to oblivion, N&N took advantage of the Internet by releasing the pilot onto the Web, where it has been seen by hundreds of thousands of fans. One of those is the author Silk, who wrote the ongoing "Trouble" series about the intrepid detectives played by Liz Vassey and Christina Cox. We'll talk to her about how a single 40-minute episode motivated her to author a series of successful, well-written stories which have lived on even longer than UPN itself. | 10/1/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

NCIS - In the Lab with Jaina and Cirroco DeSade - Sep 18,2009 | F4F's series on femslash in TV crime dramas continues with our look at the CBS drama NCIS, a spinoff of the successful legal drama JAG which has become a success in its own right with six full seasons, a seventh ready to go in the fall, and about to generate a spinoff of its own. And Abby's been there from the beginning. Besides being probably the longest-running Goth character in TV history, besides being someone who drinks way too much fictional soda, the dark-in-appearance but light-in-spirit Abby Sciuto has been a star with the NCIS femslash fans. First there were all the Abby/Kate shippers, and when Kate Todd was murdered, the Abby/Ziva fans picked up right where the others left off. Clearly the old joke is true - once you go black, you really can't go back. Whether Abby femslash gets your Bunson burning, or whether you prefer a pairing like Jenny/Ziva, there will be something for you in this segment as we interview two experienced fanfic talents - "Officer Down" writer Cirroco DeSade, and Jaina, author of the "Crying in Their Beer" and "Into the Setting Sun" series. | 9/17/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Beating the Odds #2 - Fastlane's Billie/Sara (More Than a Gimmick) and Author Blackbird - Sep 12,2009 | In the second half of our two-parter on unlikely successes, we'll be talking about the short-lived FOX police drama Fastlane. Lasting only a single season, Fastlane eventually resorted to a ratings gimmick at a time when other dramas - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Once and Again - were beginning to address onscreen kisses between two women. Targeting male viewers as always, Fastlane aired an episode where Det. Billie Chambers (Tiffani- Amber Thiessen) seduces burglar Sara Matthews (Jaime Pressly) on an undercover assignment. Hot women kissing, woohoo! While it may not have boosted ratings, it didn't stop fans from seeing the surprise potential behind the Billie/Sara pairing. Foremost among these was Blackbird, who wrote the epic fic "After the Fall" that explored Billie/Sara long after Fastlane faded from the airwaves, and more thoughtfully and romantically than Fastlane probably ever would have (or been allowed to). We'll talk to Blackbird about ATF and its unfinished sequel, "Reparations" , as well as her one-shots and her possible plans to return to the series in the future. | 9/12/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

CSI: Miami - Ariestess, Shatterpath & the Birth of Duvista - Sep 11,2009 | I know, some of you hear "CSI: Miami" and think of David Caruso and how he hides the face of an eighty-year-old man behind those damn sunglasses. But others get a much more aesthetically pleasing image when they think of CSI: Miami, namely the romantic pairing of Calleigh Duquesne (Emily Proctor) and Natalia Boa Vista (Eva La Rue). Blonde and brunette, short and tall, hot and, um, equally hot. In this episode we'll be discussing "Duvista" and CSI: Miami femslash in general as we continue our series on femslash in televised crime dramas. Our guests are the writing team of Ariestess and Shatterpath - fanfic writers with years of experience, maintainers of the Duvista community on Livejournal, and hosts of the Shatterstorm Productions website. We'll talk to them about their roles in creating the popular Duvista fandom almost from scratch, their works, and the relative appeal of Duvista compared to the CSI/CSI: Miami crossover pairings that have been written almost from the first aired episode of the Florida spinoff. | 9/10/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Liz Estrada, Demeter, Inspector Boxer and the Virtual Seasons of Women's Murder Club - Sep 04,2009 | In the second of a series on femslash in televised crime dramas, we'll be discussing the short-lived ABC drama Women's Murder Club, based on the popular novels by James Patterson. WMC was crippled by the writer's strike, then allowed to die an agonizing death worthy of the Kiss-Me-Not Killer in three final episodes that the fans . . . well, some of them wanted their EYES sewn shut. But, like so many other cancelled shows, WMC lives on in the fan fiction of authors such as our guests Liz Estrada, Demeter, and Inspector Boxer, and we'll talk about that in the first half of a special, hour-long episode. UNLIKE many other shows, however, WMC also lives on in its popular Virtual Seasons. My guests all had a hand in the writing of VS2 and VS3, and we'll talk about their experience, Lindsay/Cindy, and what to expect as VS3 continues in October. | 9/3/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Criminal Minds - Talking Emily/JJ with GilliganKane and RacetheWind - Aug 28,2009 | This week we move away from soap goddesses, comic book heroes, and terminators that look like teenage girls, and delve into a much happier place - serial killers and the people who hunt them. It can't be easy having a personal life on "Criminal Minds", a CBS drama entering its fifth season about FBI profilers tracking down "unsubs". Your life revolves around mass murderers who are very good at not being caught. It's not something you can easily discuss with that cute barista. Understandable, then, that femslash authors have found love within the team in Agents Emily Prentiss and Jennifer Jareau. We'll be talking to two of these authors, GilliganKane and RacetheWind, about their love for Emily/JJ and the appeal of romance versus angst. | 8/27/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Multi-Fandom Author Interview #2 - Fembuck - Aug 21,2009 | Earlier this year I spoke with Harper in the first of an ongoing series of interviews with femslash fanfic authors who have written so many good stories, for so many pairings, for so long that we can't limit them to a single fandom. This time around, I'll be talking to an equally prolific author - some of you might know her as Janine, but most of us know her best as Fembuck. Having spent years writing femslash for fandoms as huge as Harry Potter, or as small as The Mummy Returns, Fembuck is just as busy today as she was five years ago, and she remains as comfortable writing erotica as she does teen romance. We'll be discussing several fandoms in this show, including the current Joss Whedon drama Dollhouse, the long-deceased but never forgotten Once & Again on ABC, and the popular series of Rachel Morgan novels by Kim Harrison. | 8/20/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

BTR Goes Transatlantic as Misty Flores and DosSemanas Discuss "Los Hombres de Paco" - Aug 14,2009 | For anyone who thought the "International Day of Femslash" was a bit of an exaggeration, look no further than "Los Hombres de Paco". No, that's not a telenovela from across the border, that's a police comedy-drama airing across the ocean in SPAIN. As it turns out, however, a couple thousand miles of salt water and a language barrier can't compete with the power of the Internet when it comes to hooking American fans with its well-written canon lesbian pairing of Pepa and Silvia, or "PepSi". Especially when my guests make it as easy as possible for new fans who don't speak even a lick of Spanish to be pulled in. We'll be talking to Misty Flores, talented PepSi fanfic author and writer of the Spanish-to-English episode recaps available at www.ralst.com. And I'll be reading from an online Q&A I conducted with DosSemanas, owner and maintainer of the Youtube channel PepSiEnglish, where thousands of subscribers can find compilations featuring every Pepa/Silvia scene with English subtitles. We'll talk about how PepSi's popularity spread from Spanish to English-speaking communities, what makes PepSi so special for my guests, and what you can do to help save PepSi in the wake of recent tragic developments. | 8/13/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

In the Shonda-Land of Women - Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice Chat with BurningEden & MilkAndGlass - Aug 07,2009 | Two successful and interconnected prime-time medical dramas on ABC about smart, talented men and women who - lets face it, whose romantic lives are more complicated than the surgeries they perform. Shonda Rhimes created a fertile ground for femslash from Episode One of Greys Anatomy, which only got bigger as Addison Montgomery left for the sunnier shores of Private Practice. And that ground began bearing fruit with the steamy pairing of Calliope Torres and Erica Hahn. It was all too brief, due to reasons wed rather not rehash, but that hasnt stopped fanfic authors from writing Callie/Erica ever since. Well talk with two successful authors who have worked with that pairing and several others - "One Heart Too Many" author BurningEden, and longtime Addison/Izzie writer MilkAndGlass. DiNovia, Fewthistle and DAx Shine a "Guiding Light" on Otalia - Jul 24,2009 | As "Guiding Light" approaches the end of its run, after over seventy years of broadcasting, the Internet fanbase is more energetic than ever, mounting its last-ditch efforts to save the venerable soap opera. Plus, of course, there's "Otalia". The canon lesbian romance between Olivia Spencer and Natalia Rivera developed slowly over the past year and captured the hearts of fans. And now it's expanded well beyond the show's core audience as brand-new fans watch show clips on Youtube, listen to the Big Purple Dreams podcasts, and read fan fiction at the Incandescent Fire website. We'll discuss the exploding popularity of Otalia in a special hourlong show with DiNovia, author of "Hide Beside Me", her fellow fanfic author and co-creator of the Burning City fanfic Livejournal community Fewthistle, and "The Courtship of Emma's Mother" writer DAx. | 7/23/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Women on X-Men (X-Women?) - Chat with Princess Alexandria and Mooncat - Jul 17,2009 | Everybody has a favorite when it comes to femslash in the universe of Marvel Comics' X-Men. Maybe it's Emma Frost - you know, the one who fought the heroes in a corset. Or Jean Grey, because everybody likes the hot redhead. Or canon lesbian Mystique (see Jean Grey). Or Kitty Pryde - just how close was Illyana to her anyway? Or even wackjob Spiral - imagine what YOU could do in the bedroom with six arms. And Scott, well, nobody likes him. Whoever you like, there's no one dominant pairing in X-Men femslash, which means many popular ones. We'll discuss as many as we have time for with two of the community's most high-profile authors, Princess Alexandria and Mooncat. | 7/16/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Multi-Fandom Author Interviews - Harper - Jul 10,2009 | Harper has never been one to limit herself to one or two fandoms. Since starting out as a fanfiction author she's written at least one story for dozens of pairings. And she's done an excellent job with all of them. You'll find yourself reading her stories when you have no prior knowledge of the show! We won't worry about ALL of her previous work on this show, but we will be discussing stories from Popular (Sam/Brooke), Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles (Sarah/Cameron), Birds of Prey (Barbara/Helena), Friday Night Lights (Tyra/Lyla), and more! | 7/9/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Interview #1 - Devil Wears Prada authors Grdnofevrythng and Telanu Speak Out - Jul 03,2009 | This show marks my first effort at conducting an actual interview as we move away from the world of animation and to the world of living, breathing actors. Despite having nothing that could be considered canon femslash content, in just a few years the film version of The Devil Wears Prada has spawned a hugely successful following of the Miranda Priestly/Andrea Sachs femslash pairing. And my two special guests are partly responsible for that. First we'll talk to Grdnofevrythng, moderator for the DWP femslash community on Livejournal and the successful veteran fanfic author of "No Matter the Miles", about her inspirations (and her workload!). Later, I'll be reading out loud from the transcript of the interview I conducted earlier with Telanu, known better on LJ as Somniesperus, the hugely popular pioneering author of such fics as "She Likes a Prizefight" and "Truth and Measure" who was one of the very first put high-quality DWP femslash on the Net. Between the two of them, you'll learn everything about what makes this couple work. | 7/2/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mai HiME - Natsuki/Shizuru and . . . You Know, the Other Ones - Jun 26,2009 | The Mai-HiME/Mai-Otome series of anime and manga has been one of the most successful programs to make the jump in the last few years from Japan to America. And with a female cast that heavily outnumbers the males, the opportunities for femslash are endless. Yet the star-crossed canon (depending on what you're watching) love affair between Kuga Natsuki and Fujino Shizuru has completely captured the hearts of fans almost from the beginning. So completely, in fact, that other possible pairings (not to mention the lead heterosexual pairing from Season One) tend to fade into the background or get overlooked altogether. On Thursday we'll look at the appeal of Natsuki/Shizuru, but we'll also give the Haruka/Yukino fans, the Aoi/Chie fans, the Mai/Mikoto fans, and even those Natsuki/Nao contrarians the equal time they don't always get. | 6/25/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Poison Ivy/Harley Quinn - Are They . . . or Will They Ever? - Jun 12,2009 | Possibly the best example of femslash subtext in comic books, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn have been the ultimate case of "are they/aren't they" in DC Comics since their first partnership in Batman: the Animated Series. Ivy dislikes people in general, and Harley is most famous for her obsessive love for the Joker - yet theirs is a lasting friendship, and a romance that has been hinted at (and if you've seen that T-shirt, more than hinted at) for fifteen years. We'll discuss the evolution of Harley and Ivy as characters, how that's made their appeal as a couple stronger, some of the allusions to a romantic pairing we've seen over the years, and the ultimate challenge for Harley/Ivy fanfic authors - if Ivy can never get Harley away from the Joker for good, how can we? | 6/11/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Where is the btvs fanfic!
Where is the buffy slash? faith/buffy willow/tara or kennedy? Come on its huge!
Meh.
I like hearing the different points of view on femslash in different fandoms and discovering new authors, but Allaine and his guests are so, so very awkward. I thought, after listening to a few of the earlier shows, that it would have to get better, you know? Work out the kinks and the awkwardness and the long pauses/deafening silence, but no, even in the most recent episodes it is all still there. I’ve gotten more used to his style of interview now but I do still cringe sometimes. Not the worst podcast I’ve ever heard but definitely far, far from even semi-pro quality.
