CleanSS 28 – Taking an Active Part in Your Finances with Chris Hogan | (http://www.solomonsuccess.com/wp-content/uploads/dave.jpg)How much do you need to live on? How much income is coming into the house? How much do you owe? Jason Hartman and lead financial counselor for Dave Ramsey, Chris Hogan, discuss Dave Ramsey’s philosophy on managing your personal finances. Chris brings up important points, such as sacrificing for the good of the family, being in control of your finances, and he lists the Seven Baby Steps to financial peace. Chris drills down on some of those steps, explaining how they work, the goal of the step, and the end result. For more details, listen at: http://www.SolomonSuccess.com (http://www.SolomonSuccess.com). Chris talks about how people resort to tools of debt and how to get away from the clutches of credit. The Bible contains 750 references on how to deal with money, a few of which Chris expounds on. In the Book of Luke, one reference basically refers to money as a tool, and Chris explains the various ways it is to be a tool to help others. Money is amoral, not inherently good or evil. Chris also tells the Dave Ramsey story, detailing how Dave went from bankruptcy at a young age with a young family, to a successful financial educator, the founder of DaveRamsey.com and host of The Dave Ramsey Show. Jason also asks Chris to expound on the ideals of Dave’s “EntreLeadership,” a combination of entrepreneurism and leadership, which helps leaders win in business, based on sound principles. Chris Hogan stirs audiences to action wherever he speaks. Whether Chris is delivering a keynote on personal money management or teaching an all-day leadership training for business owners and professionals, the audience will be entertained and challenged. Chris Hogan is a sought-after, diverse speaker who loves to challenge, motivate and encourage business leaders, real estate professionals, military personnel and students to be their very best—no matter what! Chris Hogan might have been the most unlikely person to wind up working as a financial speaker. Why? Years ago, Chris was an All-American college football player who pushed future NFL players all over the field—far removed from the world of helping others find Financial Peace. For Chris, the path from football to where he is today was a long, but meaningful, journey. While he was a vice president of a well-respected company, helping clients manage all phases of their businesses, he realized how so many families, marriages and children were being affected by money issues. He felt powerless as he sat behind his desk and watched his clients throw away their financial futures. Chris knew things needed to change. That’s when he met Dave Ramsey, and his career found a new direction. Today, he helps spread Dave’s message of financial hope to audiences everywhere. An engaging and humorous speaker, Chris is an expert on subjects like mortgages, healthcare and investing. To promote financial education, he speaks at colleges and businesses, and conducts on-site training sessions at companies. Chris also works with high-profile clients, such as athletes, entertainers and businessmen, to help them develop a financial strategy to protect their wealth and secure their future. Chris has had insurance licensure and banking certifications in three states. He holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown College and a master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania. | 2/21/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanSS 24 – Work Hard & Become A Leader; Be Lazy & Become A Slave. – Proverbs 12:24 | Jason Hartman talks with Jim Collins, a Pastor, Motivational Speaker, Businessman and Author, he is the Founder of Beyond Positive Thinking Ministries and the Pastor of Victory in Christ International in Jupiter, Florida. Ten leadership success principles with you that will help you both in your personal life and in your business life. As I share each one, I’m going to give you an inspiring quote that applies to each principle; I’m going to give you a wisdom nugget from the richest man who ever lived; and we’re also going to have some fill-ins to keep the presentation exciting and fast moving. Ready for your first leadership success principle? The first principle for success in leadership comes in the form of a definition of life. Here’s the best definition of life I’ve ever heard: 1. Life is opportunity mixed with adversity. I can tell you exactly what your life is going to be like over the next 1, 3, 5, and 10 years. The one thing that’s a given in your life is this: Your life is going to include some opportunity, and your life is going to include some adversity; therefore, if you want to be a successful leader you’re going to have to maintain a “never-give-up” attitude. Successful leaders know that opportunity mixed with adversity is a call for perseverance. Perseverance includes persistence and determination. Calvin Coolidge, 30th President of the United States said this: “Press on. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” Question: How long should we give a baby to learn how to walk? After all, every fall is an adversity. Maybe after the third fall we should say, “Just stay down there.” No. How long should a baby take to learn how to walk? “Until” the baby walks. Great leaders possess an “until” mindset. American inventor Thomas Edison had an “until” mindset. After failing at 10,000 experiments, he said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. ” “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” –Thomas Edison Leaders never quit. Our first wisdom nugget comes from: Proverbs 24:10 (NKJV) If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. The first leadership success principle is “Life is Opportunity mixed with Adversity.” 2. The Paradox of Time: Nobody ever seems to have enough, but everybody has all there is. Every single person alive today has one thing in common – 24 hours in a day. The rich and the poor both have 24 hours a day; the well and the sick both have 24 hours a day. See folks, time levels the playing field, doesn’t it? And because everybody has the same amount of time, you can no longer use the excuse “I don’t have the time,” because everybody has all the time there is. Leaders take responsibility for their lives while others are making excuses. “The price of greatness is responsibility.” –Winston Churchill Proverbs 14:8 (NIV) The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception. 3. Success isn’t measured by how well you do compared to how well others do, but how well you do compared to how well you could have done. Far too many people spend their time comparing themselves to other people and worrying too much about what other people think about them. Be yourself – pursue your dream. Many people live their lives with the attitude: “I’m not who I think I am. I’m not who you think I am. I’m who I think you think I am.” Instead, focus on what God has called you to do, and then become excellent at it. If you’re | 1/3/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanSS 23 – A Christmas Story & Mortgage Planning with “A Tale of Two Brothers” | Jason Hartman welcomes Ronald Reagan to the show to share a moving Christmas story. Next, some mortgage financial planning illustrated by "A Tale of Two Brothers" by Ric Edelman who has educated his clients for years on the benefits of integrating their mortgage into their overall financial plan. In his book, The New Rules of Money, Ric tells the story of two brothers, each of whom secures a mortgage to buy a $200,000 home. Each brother earns $70,000 a year and has $40,000 in savings. The first brother, Brother A, believes than half the nation's banks failed and millions of homeowners, unable to raise the cash they needed to payoff their loans, lost their homes. Out of this the American Mantra was born: Always own your home outright. Never carry a mortgage. The reasoning behind America's new mantra was really quite simple: if the economy fell to pieces, at least you still had your home and the bank couldn't take it away from you. Maybe you couldn't put food on the table or pay your bills, but your home was secure. Since the Great Depression laws have been introduced that make it illegal for banks to call your loan due. The bank can no longer call you up and say, We're running a little short on cash and need you to pay off your loan in the next thirty days.Additionally, the Fed is now quick to infuse money into the system if there is a run on the banks, as we saw in 1987 and Y2K. Also, the FDIC was created to insure banks. Still, it's no wonder the fear of losing their home became instilled in the hearts and minds of the American people, and they quickly grew to fear their mortgage. In the 1950's and 60's families would throw mortgage burning parties to celebrate paying off their home. And so, because of this fear of their mortgage, for nearly 75 years most people have overlooked the opportunities their mortgage provides to build financial security. | 12/21/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanSS 22 – The Solomon Secret: Seven Principles of Financial Success from King Solomon, History’s Wealthiest Man | Bruce Fleet joins host, Jason Hartman, from Frisco, CO as they discuss using Solomon's life and teachings as a foundation, Bruce Fleet offers today's readers a unique, well-grounded, proven method of wise investing. Solomon was more than just a character in the Bible; he was the richest man who ever lived. If we could learn from him directly, today, what would he teach us about how to grow in riches and knowledge? And how can we relate his life and wisdom to the society and successful financial planning of our contemporary world? Bruce Fleet's The Solomon Secret brings together instructional parables highlighting the wisdom of history's wealthiest and wisest man, with practical and sound financial advice for twenty-first-century readers. In the best selling tradition of The Richest Man in Babylon, The Solomon Secret follows King Solomon as he mentors his young 'protege', Abidan, on the seven basic principles of life and how they influence financial success. Each of these parables illustrates a key principle that Abidan must discover before he can garner more wealth and happiness, and is then proceeded by Fleet's masterful application of these principles to the reader's life and to the most urgent and essential financial questions of our time. Fleet, a successful financial adviser and owner of a large investment firm, draws from the time-honored and historically proven wisdom of the life of the ancient king to offer 'through the siphon of his own talent and perspective' the very best in financial strategies for today's challenging economic climate. An accessible and effective mix of teaching stories with powerful financial lessons, The Solomon Secret is a highly readable, informative guide to becoming wealthy and wise. Bruce L. Fleet is one of the leading financial advisers in the country. A former Wall Street brokerage 'top-producing' broker for more than 20 years, he has been recognized by the media and awarded numerous professional distinctions. He is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and received the Investment Strategist Certificate from the Wharton School of Business at The University of Pennsylvania, via the Investment Management Consultants Association. Fleet came from humble beginnings, starting his career as a car salesman. It was only after a customer noted that he would make a good investment manager that Fleet decided to pursue a career in finance. Shortly after his customer's flippant suggestion, he applied to PaineWebber, with no formal training in finance. Despite the odds and due to his tenacity, Fleet was hired on and began competing with colleagues who had obtained MBA's and other advanced degrees. Yet, it wasn't long before the former car salesman and bar singer quickly rose to the top of the industry. In the 1990's, Fleet became one of Wall Street's top corporate trainers, educating new and tenured investment executives for Merrill Lynch. As one of their most requested trainers, he was asked to train thousands of new and tenured financial advisors from throughout the country. Following years of success at Merrill Lynch, Fleet returned to his former firm, PaineWebber, which was eventually purchased by UBS Financial Services. While achieving the enviable status of Senior Vice President of Investments and Chairmen's Council Member at UBS, Fleet was responsible for managing money on behalf of foundations throughout the country, making him one of the largest advisors of charitable monies in the United States. Fleet's passion for charity also inspired him to establish his own aid organization called 'A Portion of My Heart', which raised money through the sale of his music and performances to support inner-city ministries in Denver and to sponsor hundreds of children in developing countries. Currently, Fleet is the managing principal and Registered Investment Advisor of Fleet Capital Management, a fee only investment management firm in Colorado. | 11/16/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

So God does care what we do with our money.
Hoo hoo! This Jason Hartman is a very brave young man to use the Bible to try to talk some sense into the crazy way most people run their financial life. In case you didn't know it, King Solomon allegedly wrote both Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. The problem is that the language is so arcane and sometimes indecipherable that we give up at ever figuring out what God really intended for us to do with our money. Only two episodes in the can so far, but there's a great blog at his website. I'm going to keep an eye for more podcast episodes because I think this one might be going places. Here's a question for you: What do you think God has to say about credit card usage or lending money?
I had no idea you could invest in line with your beliefs
I have so much respect for Jason - not everyone would share biblical concepts for money management, for fear of reprisal from "non-religious" people. But Jason is a man of integrity who isn't afraid to state what he believes. And it must be working, because Jason has built his own "empire" based on this foundation. Thanks, Jason, for standing up for what many of us believe, and helping us be good stewards of what God has entrusted to us.
I can't wait for more episodes.
I think this podcast series has an opportunity to explode. What better way to teach financial wisdom than through biblical concepts? I really enjoyed the two podcasts and hope to see others released very soon.
