| 1 | CleanVideoTuna Tartare Recipe & El Prado Tempranillo Rosé (serves 2) | The word is derived from the name Tartars, an ethnic group from Eastern Europe and parts of Asia. A popular legend is that the Tartars kept raw meat under their saddles and the meat was naturally tenderized after a days riding. Whatever the case might be, tartare is extremely popular in restaurants all over the world and is best enjoyed with a light red or rosé. This dish works really well with a chilled Beaujolais or even a full-bodied Rose. Try any rose made from big grapes such as Cabernet or Merlot or a good full bodied Spanish rose. 1 Large tuna steak Green Tabasco Fresh Coriander Dijon Mustard Olive oil Soy sauce Salt & pepper 1. Cut the tuna into small cubes (see podcast) 2. Add all other ingredients to taste. There are no specific measurements for this dish so just add small amounts at a time till you are satisfied with the taste. Food: £6 Wine: £4.69 | 7/2/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 2 | CleanVideoRisotto Nero & Garlic Squid Recipe & Araldica La Luciana Gavi (Serves 2) | Risotto Nero (black rice) gets its name from the black color the rice acquires when cooked with its signature ingredient, squid ink. Its delicious with any crisp white wine but if in doubt always opt for something from the same region as the food. I think a Gavi from Piemonte will be perfect with this dish. | 3 | CleanVideoEp 22 - Vino Verde and Pan Fried Sardines Recipe (serves 2 ) | Portugese wines are often as rustic as the food and the secret here is local food with local wine! Sardines are eaten the length of Portugal and are appreciated for its simplicity. Grilled or pan fried and served with lemon is still the best way with cold local Vino Verde. | 4 | CleanVideoEpisode 21 - Recipe - New York Caesar Salad & Chardonnay | There are many different versions of this classic salad and on the contrary it was not named after Julius Caesar but was created by Cesar Cardini a restaurateur who lived in San Diego. The Cardini family registered the recipe in 1946 and today there are many different Cardini dressings available to choose from. I like this simple but classic version. | 5 | CleanVideoEpisode 20 - Recipe: Peppered Steak & Shiraz (Serves 2) | Cooking down under has come a long way since the height of sophistication was the perfect pastry or consommé. Australia was desperate to get away from the worst aspects of old fashioned British cuisine and welcomed the revolution in Aussi eating with the first wave of Mediterranean immigrants and of course the fact that Asia is on the doorstep. Australia is also known for their top quality beef and traffic stopping red wines so we decided to do a pepper steak & Shiraz. There are many versions of this dish but the key elements are top quality meat, peppercorns, cream and brandy. With the additional flavour of garlic this dish is perfect with young medium to full bodied reds, including cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz or a blend of both. | 6 | CleanVideoEpisode 19 - Recipe Valentine’s Crispy Oysters , Black Peppered Honey & Muscadet (serves 2) | It’s a well known fact that Oysters are widely recognized as an aphrodisiac. We have been eating fresh oysters since Roman times and even cooked ones have been around for a while, just thinking of a classic like Oyster Rockefeller. I particularly like the twist to this recipe, just the word crispy is making my mouth water, it’s so easy to make and a wonderful way to start a meal or even served as a canapé. Enjoy this with a dry crisp white wine from France, Champagne or Sparkling wine. Recipe & more at www.inspectorgrape.com | 3/19/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Hardys Crest Hardys Crest Sparkling Wine £5.48 This was lovely sparkling wine and took my slightly by surprise! It was slightly better than I thought it might be and therefor completely baffled me! It had that lovely yeasty character that we know all too well from tasting good quality Champagne. It was slightly off dry but not sweet, just a little red apple on the finish and may i say: not a bad wine at all for less than £6!! Berringer Rose Berringer Rose £8.20 The first thing I thought was that someone dropped some berries in the bottle or something weird happened, but of course that cannot be so it must be me dreaming!! The fact is that this rose smelled of boiled sweets, candy, strawberries and a big bowl full of "loveliness" The only thing that worried me was that I thought it was going to be a little too sweet for me and as expected it was quite sweet. It was delicious to say the least but maybe a little too sweet. Stars: 2 Tesco Premium Cru Champagne Tesco Premium Cru Champagne £12.98 Lets just get one thing straight: Champagne is expensive for what it is! Most of the ordinary household names are all the same and even tastes the same. This statement could land me in jail or make me very unpopular in a wine region that I love, but the fact is that all those mass produced Champagnes do actu | 12/26/08 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 8 | CleanVideoInspector Grape - Chrismas Special | Yes it is that time of the year again and even if you said you are doing nothing for X-Mas you should, like myself, always have a few bottles of bubbly in the fridge for those unplanned moments when you just wished that you had something chilled. We are also all aware of the fact that the economy is falling apart, nobody has any money and you are not getting a bonus this year so why would you want to spend hundreds of pounds on wine when actually you cant afford it! This is exactly why I decided to recommend wines that are not expensive and that will go with whatever you decide to slap on the table for X-Mas! (Reading this in your Blog Reader and don't see a video below? Then Click here!Reading this on our website and don't see the video? Then Click here!) Tesco's Cava Brut Tesco's Cava Brut £5.83 Cava is no stranger to my show and I'm delighted to see it again in my glass! This is Spanish Champagne if you want to call it that and is made in the same way as Champagne but with different grapes. I must tell you that I was stunned with the quality of this Cava and it even had those "biscuity" notes that you normally only get from Champagne. I don't think there was anything wrong with this Cava and at a bargain price of £5.83 Try this with my Cured Salmon! Cotes du Rhone 2007 Cotes du Rhone (white) £6.23 Neither is this a newcomer to the show, the only difference is that we did Cote du Rhone red and not white. The reason I decided to go with Cotes du Rhone White is that it's not as sharp as Sauvignon and not as buttery as Chardonnay! It is delicious wine with a soft peachy pineapple finish and it's not expensive. It will go with any white meat and it will be good with Turkey, Goose, Chicken or Pork or my delicious Lobster Salad <img height="85" width="128" alt="Kuma | 12/18/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

This is exclusively available to podcast viewers! (Reading this in your Blog Reader and don't see a video below? Then Click here!Reading this on our website and don't see the video? Then Click here!) Skilpadvlei white Skilpadvlei Sauvignon Blanc £5 This is a delicious Sauvignon Blanc with all the characteristics of a true Sauvignon. It is fresh, crisp and have a lovely citrussy, grassy and gooseberry finish. I think the quality of this wine was exceptional and if this was a French wine or from NZ it will be over £10. It is a delicious aperitif wine or will be excellent with fish or white meat. I am very proud of it and am very confident about the quality of this wine! Skilpadvlei red Skilpadvlei Cabernet/Merlot £6 This is a huge powerful knock-out wine, but then again you knew it was always going to be BIG before you even opened the bottle because its a Cab/Merlot. We have been chasing you around Beaujolais and the Rhone Valley for the past 3 weeks with soft and juicy light wines so its about time we slap you back to reality with a stunningly powerful aggressive wine. Its so big I had to pull my top lip down with both hands. The beauty about the whole thing is that it is a 2005 so its beginning to show some age, its not a teenager that still needs to prove something, its a well matured impressive wine that will continue to age gracefully for the next 20 years, yes I said 20 years! Buy a few cases now and forget about it, its ready to drink but will even be more amazing in a few years time. | 10 | CleanVideoInspector Grape - Dessert Wines - Muscat | Inspector Grape can reveal that this is the only grape in the world that can produce a wine that actually smells and tastes of grapes. It is also one of the oldest grape varieties in the world and is responsible for producing amazingly perfumed wines that has captured our imagination for centuries. (Reading this in your Blog Reader and don't see a video below? Then Click here!) Reading this on our website and don't see the video? Then Click here!) Muscat de Beaumes de Venise Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, 2007, France Waitrose, £5.55 This is a famous sweet wine made entirely from the Muscat grape. This wine was like a loaded gun that shot up my nostrils with a BANG! It was so perfumy it took me back to opening my grandmother’s drawers when I was a little boy. It smelled of peaches and citrus and was so aromatic that my taste buds were doing a Rumba before it even touched my lips. It was light and elegant and I had to make a Panna cotta to go with it, just to finish-off my Sunday night in style. | 11 | CleanVideoInspector Grape - The Rhone Valley | Inspector Grape's unquenchable thirst for soft and juicy wine takes him to the Rhone Valley to see if the blending of two grape varieties, Syrah and Grenache will live up to the description. Classic Cote du Rhone Classic Cote du Rhone, 2007, Waitrose £3.99 This young Rhone wine was made from two grape varieties called Syrah and Grenache. Although it is still very young (2007) it shows superb notes of red fruit, berries and spice. Let’s be honest here, it’s only £3.99 so its not going to blow your mind when you taste it but if you are just looking for a drinkable red wine or you want to make Mulled wine for Xmas, this is perfect! | 12 | CleanVideoInspector Grape - Beaujolais | I Inspector Grape continues his quest to find soft and juicy wines. He turns to the Beaujolais region where the best wines provide the yardstick for all the world's attempts to put red freshness into a bottle. This wine is essentially flirtatious with a juicy aroma that, combined with its promise of appetizing acidity, is sufficient to release the gastric juices before the first sip. (Reading this in your Blog Reader and don't see a video below? Then Click here!) Reading this on our website and don't see the video? Then Click here!) Cuvee Des Vignerons Cuvee Des Vignerons, Beaujolais 2007, Waitrose £4.99 This smelled and looked exactly as I expected, with a light red colour and a nose of cherries, plums and raspberries. It made my mouth water and my head fill with thoughts of bubblegum! I must admit that the taste was a little thin and lacking that lovely strawberry that I was so hoping it would taste of. But hey this was a very cheap wine and it"s made from the Gamay grape that was never suppose to be heavy and intense. *No Stars* Georges Buboeuf Chiroubles Georges Duboeuf Chiroubles 2007, Waitrose £8.99 The Chiroubles Cru (wine producing area) is the highest of all the Beaujolais areas and is generally responsible for producing lighter wines but after pouring it into my glass I soon realized that the wine had an attractive inky purple colour and smelled of black cherries and strawberries and I was delighted to taste the same on the palate. This almost bubble gummy taste is the result of a single wine making technique used throughout the whole of Beaujolais called *Carbonic Maceration*. The winemaker literally places whole bunches of grapes in the fermentation tanks and these grapes undergo intracellular fermentation and produces aromas reminiscent of ripe pears, bananas and bubblegum. Serve it slightly chilled, it is delicious flirtatious wine. *2 Stars* Bouchard Pere & Fils Fleurie Bouchard Pere & Fils Fleurie 2007, Waitrose £9.99 This is the most expensive of all the Beaujolais wines and for what it’s worth it is the wine growing region in France with the prettiest name. This was delicious wine and I thought it really showed what Beaujolais can bring to the table when it comes to soft and elegant red wine. I loved it and thought it would go really well with that honey roast chicken that was in the oven. *2 Stars* Inspector Grape’s Roast Chicken stuffed with grapes - serves 4 Roast Chicken | 11/21/08 | Free | View In iTunes |
