More Proof that Adventure is Profitable with Jolene Brink | Press play or click on “Download the MP3″ to begin streaming audio. Right click “Download the MP3″ and choose “save as” or “save link” to save this audio to your computer. Download the MP3 or Subscribe with iTunes Jolene Brink is bold, daring, fearless… and shy! (It’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for!) Jolene Brink is an independent copywriter for fiery, big-personality entrepreneurs. She is living the life of her dreams, making a living doing things she loves, has the freedom to take extended trips with her fiancée, and is looking to go to New Zealand this weekend. I mean… why not, right? Is there something priviledged about Jolene and what she is doing? Are her parents loaded? Is she a trust fund baby? Is she just freakishly gifted? No – she is just awesome. She takes the fact that her life is a CHOICE and she is asking the world for what she wants and then doing something about it. What’s awesome is that everything she is doing is replicatable. You can do this, too! On this call, Jolene shares some stories about the places she’s been, how she organized a cross country bike ride, took off to India by herself to teach, and then came home to launch her own copy writing business (which is flourishing, by the way!). Give it a listen, learn from her, be inspired, and then write your big (scary?) dream in the comments section. To get more understanding about this call to action, give the short, sweet, and awesome podcast a listen! More Awesome Background on Jolene Brink I applied for a Fulbright to teach in Thailand my senior year of college, but wasn’t accepted. I found out about the opportunity to teach in India 3 days later. It was a volunteer position that didn’t pay but gave room & board. So going into the Trek, I knew I was going to leave for India almost immediately after the bike tour was over. I’ve also been with my fiance for 4+ years, and I went to India to prove that I could travel alone … and give him time to adjust to his new job at the Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center. We wanted our own adventures to be sure we were ready to stay together. I would have stayed overseas longer, but I missed him too much. He’s finishing his second year at the ELC (which is why we’re living in Finland, MN … seriously, Googlemap it), which is why I’m living in the middle of nowhere … which also happens to be right next to Lake Superior. John was a major supporter of everything I did that year, and continues to be, and is a huge reason why I was sucessful. He never questioned me or held me back … which is why getting married at 24 is just another part of the adventure. Photos of Jolene Brink’s adventures + her life map from the call! Lauren has done a lot of stuff in her life when it comes to entrepreneurship. I’m happy to say I’ve been in her life the past few years of her journey and we have always been there for each other to share advice, ideas, and sometimes even join forces. For 99% of the podcasts I produce on Love Your Work Life, the moment we begin recording is usually the very first time I have ever spoken to the person. It is rare for me to have rapport with the person and to know their history on a personal level. Because I have personally been involved in Lauren’s life and know her journey first hand, I can attest that if you have a dream of breaking six figures with your Dream business or career, YOU CAN DO IT. It is NOT impossible. And I believe in you. Please take the time to listen to this podcast with Lauren Fritsch and be ready to be newly inspired and learn how she went from zero to $100K in 6 months. Hill Country Cupcake | Press play or click on “Download the MP3″ to begin streaming audio. Right click “Download the MP3″ and choose “save as” or “save link” to save this audio to your computer. Download the MP3 [29 minutes] or Subscribe with iTunes Lots of people secretly dream about becoming a baker of some kind. It is a really common entrepreneurial ambition. That’s why so many folks try it out. That’s also one of the reasons competition is so steep and why so many people struggle when they embark on the entrepreneurial adventure. On a recommendation from a friend, I found Katie Bycura, owner of Hill Country Cupcakes, when I was organizing the SXSW book launch party for Jenny Blake and her book Life After College: The Complete Guide to Getting What You Want. Not only did her cupcakes fly off the trays, but people kept coming up and asking me who the cupcake sponsor was! Those cupcakes were DELICIOUS! But Katie isn’t just making good cupcakes: she is making good BUSINESS. At the time of this recording, Katie had 90 weddings on the books! That’s right, 9-0! That’s a LOT of weddings. And that doesn’t include the farmer’s markets and other parties her cupcake company does. So what is Katie doing differently that is launching her to the top of her cupcake dream that other cupcakeries and hopeful bakers aren’t? That’s exactly what we talk about on this podcast! So listen up! About Katie Bycura Born and raised in Austin, Texas, our owner Katie Bycura graduated with honors from Westlake High School and then studied nursing at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. After a summer in New York City and while finishing school in DC, she discovered several great East Coast cupcakeries. Upon returning to Austin and working as a pediatric registered nurse, Katie decided to pursue a long-time hobby that had always brought her happiness – baking – and cupcakes, of course, would be her specialty. Her background in health care, while unique in its own right, has encouraged her to create a greener cupcake, one families can feel better about eating together. She has also worked hard to develop special diet cupcake alternatives; everyone should be able to enjoy a cupcake! Shella, Katie’s amazing mother, has always been her #1 fan. As business has picked up, Shella has stepped up to the plate and truly become an asset to Hill Country Cupcake. Also a Registered Nurse by trade, Shella is equally committed to the same philosophies Hill Country Cupcake was founded upon. An Austin resident since 1976, she knows and loves our community. She also knows how important it is to make life’s moments – and memories – so much sweeter. Join Katie and Shella. Make life sweeter – one cupcake at a time. | 4/6/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

The First 5 Steps to Start Writing Your Book | Listen to the podcast here: http://www.loveyourworklife.com/write-your-book/ I claimed it on New Year’s Eve: this is the year I write and publish my first book. I have started the year eager, determined… and completely clueless! My goal was to write one chapter per week. That’s about as far as I knew how to plan. So far, I have written two chapters but in the process, have also gotten lost in my own creativity and direction. My road blocks: I don’t know where to start… I have too many ideas for books – I don’t know which book to write… I have no idea how to organize my book… I have no idea how to or whether to self-publish or try to get a book deal… And now that I’ve started, I am stuck and slowly starting to feel confused, overwhelmed, and self-doubting. I know I’m not alone in this and since this site is dedicated to making dreams real, I asked my friend Lisa Tener to help us out! This podcast is a little different than my usual interviews. It was live. It is longer (60 minutes). And it is packed full of a LOT of detail and tons of questions I have about the book writing and publishing process. I can’t list everything Lisa and I talked about on the call but here are some bullet points on some of what we covered: I asked her about all the stuff in the first set of bullet points in this post. She told me the first 5 crucial steps to take before you start writing the chapters. She gives us a crash course in self-publishing vs traditional publishing (getting book deals). She gives real life examples of various book writing success stories as well as case studies. And a ton more. Listen to the podcast here: http://www.loveyourworklife.com/write-your-book/ If you are thinking about writing a book, or even an ebook, for your life, career, or business you should totally check out this call. I am SO inspired! Commit to yourself to schedule an hour to listen to this podcast BEFORE FRIDAY. The sooner the better! Make this the year you finally write your book! Why not join me in some Accountability? Join my new super awesome – members only – book writing support and accountability Facebook group! Let’s do this – together! It’s totally free (duh, it’s Facebook) and we can work together to keep each other supported and accountable. Check it out and contact me to join! | 1/25/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

In this interview Dr. Claudia Anderson shares her experience with integrating social media marketing into the mix for her medial practice. I am the owner/Dentist of Family Dental Care. I graduated from Loyola University with a BSN in 1976 and worked in a variety of settings as a registered nurse. I love working with people and wanted to continue in a profession that allowed patient care and patient teaching, so I went back to school in 1986 at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry and graduated from there in 1990. I started working in my father, Dr. Kenneth Anderson’s practice, Family Dental Care, in 1990- a practice that he had built up since 1954. I bought the practice from my Dad in 1996, and he continued to work with me until 1997. The practice had been on the Northwest Side of Chicago since 1967, but in January of 2002, I moved the practice to its current location at 912 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge Illinois. We continue to grow and serve the community’s dental health care needs. In 2005, I took on an associate, Dr. Carolyn Demas, who has been a great asset to Family Dental Care and to the community. Don’t surround a Great Dane with Chihuahuas – How to keep the A-Players in your organization | In my first podcast interview with Eric Herrenkohl, I asked him how a small business can find and hire "A-Players." I also picked his brain on how high achieving employees can position themselves as "A-Players" to potential employers. His insight was so revealing and potentially game changing for anyone who takes the time to listen. In today's podcast interview, Eric tells me about how an organization can keep their "A-Players." What are "A-Players?" They're the top performers in your organization; the people who are making the most sales, rocking their careers, and taking charge of their work and life. They are the people you wish you had 100 more of. Thing is, if you only have one A-Player on your team you are at great risk. Why? Because when the economy turns around, that A-Player is going to leave you. That's right. Your shining star is going to find a brighter galaxy where she can learn to be better, faster, and stronger.
