CleanM_REC LTD PODCAST - BEN GIBSON | M_REC LTD PODCAST 11 Ben Gibson (M_Rec Ltd/Axis 6277) Ben Gibson arrived on the techno scene in 2006 with the techno futurism of “No Signify” on Jeff Mills’ Axis sub-label 6277. In the same year he relocated to Tokyo from his adopted home of New Zealand. Elaborate, poly-rhythmic and often densely textured, the music he produced during this period contrasted heavily with much of the minimal techno popular at the time. Tracks such as Blind Probe Head, Cutter and Wirklickeit helped Ben to cement his position in the international techno scene. After relocating to Europe in 2010 Ben continues to produce music, the latest forthcoming release being the More than Milk EP on M_Rec Ltd. CleanM_REC LTD PODCAST - DIMI ANGELIS | M_REC LTD PODCAST 07 Dimi Angelis (M_Rec Ltd, 6277/Axis, Figure, Smallville) Dimi Angelis is a Dutch producer, and techno/house DJ, born on island of Corfu, Greece, but grown up in the Netherlands, where he has been in touch with music since his youth. Until the age of 21 he was inspired and driven by rock music, which he put into practice through playing saxophone and drums. In the summer 1992, during his stay on Mallorca, he discovered house music for the first time. Over the coming years he absorbed influences by various house artists, which inspired him to get actively involved with house music himself: in 1997 he became a DJ. In those early beginnings of his DJ-ing career, he mostly drew influences and inspiration from Dutch artists Angelo, Steve Rachmad, Dimitri and Remy. Soon after, Dimi’s taste and affection towards house were to be refined, and his artistic expression grew to be bound to techno. His biggest influences became Laurent Garnier and predominantly Steve Rachmad and Jeff Mills. Steve Rachmad’s and Jeff Mills’s works remain his greatest inspiration up to the last few years. The last years have seen a new wave of minimal techno and Dimi has kept developing his sound. Inspired by old as well as new artists who make Detroit House and Old Skool minimal Techno. Major influences now come from people like Daniel Bell, Todd Sines, Joel Mull, Basic Channel, Mike Huckaby and a lot of other new unknown techno and house producers. With his DJ gigs and “new style” techno productions, Dimi has found a way to move forward, keeping up to date with changes in today’s techno and house scene, without forgetting about the past. Towards the end of 2003 Dimi joined a talented Dutch artist Jeroen Search. Together they produced ep,s like the Ion 01 and 02 EPs, which appeared on Steve Rachmad’s sub-label of Scorp: “Ion”.In 2005, again with Jeroen Search, he released two EPs on the Dutch label Audiosculpture: “Oxygenating EP” and “The Next Level”. Towards the end of 2005 “Counterpart” is born. The alias under which Dimi and Jeroen continue to produce multiple EP’s. Crowning the success of their previous releases, Dimi Angelis and Jeroen Search join hands again to produce “The Martian Mystique” EP on Jeff Mills’s label Mission (6277/Axis) under the “Counterpart” alias. Currently Dimi Angelis & Jeroen Search have put together a dynamic/energetic live act with a Roland 909 and plenty of hardware. They will be on tour through out the world under the Counterpart alias. The kickoff of Counterpart took place at the Rex Club (Paris) in January 2007, and their debut on Dutch soil was scheduled at Holland’s leading techno event "Awakenings" in the Westergasfabriek in September 2007. As a wish to unite the contemporary techno diehards, and preserve the underground origins of the techno scene, in September 1999 Dimi has started organizing non-profit underground parties, which usually take place in nature or abandoned lofts. With his concept he attracted many respected artists: Steve Rachmad, Estroe, Petar Dundov, Joel Mull, Shinedoe, Jeroen Search, Seutek, Joachim, Quazar, Steffi, Diskordia, Pelacha, 2000 and One, etc. This is only one of the ways in which Dimi has shown his great affection, talent and artistic potential towards techno. Nowadays the underground techno scene sees new organizers like “Dekmantel/Nachtmantel”, which program Dimi on regular base for a dj set or live performances by Counterpart. | 8/20/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanM_REC LTD PODCAST - CHARLTON | M_REC LTD PODCAST 04 CHARLTON (M_REC Ltd / AUDIOASSAULT) Charlton (1982) begins in 1999. This is the year that the techno scene faced this Dutch DJ from Rotterdam for the first time. Started as a DJ, Charlton was attractive to techno music of that time. While his gigs started to count up, Charlton starts to produce his own tracks in 2001. After finishing his ‘Electronic Music Productions’ study he started producing for his first live PA, which took place in 2004. Charltons inventive style of producing tracks and with the techno sounds from “the old days” combined with his own dark off-beat rhythms, filled with nasty razor-sharp and hypnotizing acid baselines, had a great impact on Dutch techno scene. Due this, he gets more gigs and even become resident of all kinds of techno parties like the ‘SubCulture’ parties in Utrecht in 2005. Not only more gigs as a result of his discernible music style, also his first releases took place on the Audio Assault/Arms label of Bas Mooy and Jeroen Liebregts. Charlton tracks are played by many well-known techno artists nowadays. Together with his “partner in crime” Bas Mooy he started to produce some more tracks and solo tracks for other labels such as Pohjola, Aftertaste, Lime tree or Labrynth to name a few of the list. In 2006 the collaboration between Bas Mooy and Charlton led to ‘Diabla Diezco’ alias. This project delivers you the “dark and evil techno straight from the streets of Rotterdam”. The amount of international bookings is increasing in 2007, with gigs in Poland and Czech Republic for example. The same year that Charlton was asked to play at the legendary ‘Awakenings Festival’ party and the same year he became one of the founders of ‘Return records’. Through this label he supports the development of the current techno scene, by creating a high quality music platform for upcoming and current (inter)national producers. The first Return release’s launched in 2008 and more to follow! | 4/27/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanM_REC LTD PODCAST - A.PAUL | M_REC LTD PODCAST 02 A.PAUL (Naked Lunch / M_REC Ltd) A.Paul was born in Lisbon (Portugal) in 1971. His first contact with music was at the age of 6 through the influence of his older sister who was really into the funky disco sound. His musical roots are deeply connected with great musicians such as George Benson, Imagination, Al Jarreau, Quincy Jones, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson, and later with Kraftwerk, true pioneers of what we now call electronic music. He also received some electro and hip-hop vibes from the 80´s, and by the time acid house hit Europe by the end of the decade, he was already mixing for some time, making some parties with his own equipment, and his work was recognized by the portuguese dj J. Daniel, who gave him the opportunity in 91 to start playing as a resident in a club that held the capacity for a 1000 people and also invited him to work at his record shop and with whom he also released his first vinyl record in 94, on his imprint Question of Time. This record was also licensed to the mythical Italian label UMM & UK's Bush Records. This was a time of great discovery in music, made A.Paul forge and polish his own style of music and skills as well, leading him to become resident of two of the most charismatic clubs at that time, Climacz in 94 and Kremlin in 96 both in Lisbon. In 1995, after his first international gig in Augsburg - Germany, he became the techno import manager for Illegal Records in Lisbon, and with this new step he is able to get all the latest promos of techno, and release his music on his own labels, first Squeeze Records with another 2 portuguese djs, and later on his own Onh.Cet. This was the when he got definitely addicted to techno music, absorbing all the new influences from Detroit, Chicago, the first minimal wave from Robert Hood, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Joey Beltram, Damon Wild, Steve Stoll and also the European faction with The Advent, Surgeon, Luke Slater, James Ruskin, Steve Rachmad, Maurizio among a lot of other artists and labels that deeply inspired him throughout the years. The next couple of years A.Paul released music for other international labels which made his name more popular hence leading to an expectable increase of gigs in his country, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Slovakia, Germany and Denmark. When he joined the X-Club agency and party organization company in 1997, he finally had the chance to play regularly with all the top techno and house djs one can imagine, transcending new ways of understanding the art of djing, different styles of music, and the chance to start co-producing music with renowned artists and establishing good friendships with them, even remaining in contact with some of them today. Besides music, he also embraces a new artistic passion with visuals, being the graphic designer for X-Club for over 2 years, and created his own visuals company - ‘Oblivion Visual Concepts’. In 2001 he opened an online record shop called Genesis Records, which grew to the point that he had to open an actual shop, promoting techno and new styles of open minded music like no other place in Portugal. He also created a label for the shop where he released a few records. The following years were filled with remarkable success, increased popularity, which made him become the Best Portuguese Techno Dj 3 years in a row, voted by the readers of Dance Club Magazine, the main media vehicle for dance music in Portugal. New projects and ideas kept on coming, he created Mooshi Mooshi a merchandising shop, he founded Secret Society, a night in Lisbon dedicated to techno, and more recently he opted to quit all his other activities (design, promoting, chronicle writer and record reviewer), dedicat | 2/23/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanM_REC LTD PODCAST - JEROEN SEARCH (Live) | M_REC LTD PODCAST 01 JEROEN SEARCH - Live @ Underground Sessions (NL) Jeroen Search Techno. Purist. Early 90s Jeroen got into contact with the upcoming house music and got into it from that moment on. Meeting DJ Misjah in 1993 was his first opportunity to translate his thoughts into music and their cooperation resulted in some of the first X-Trax records releases. At that time his alias was DJ Groovehead. In 1996 the record label "Search" was founded. The Search imprint was a vessel to express his artistic point of view. Strongly influenced by the likes of Robert Hood and the Detroit sound he developed his own unique recognizable sound, which is best to be described as minimal techno. Recording tracks in one take, doing all the edits live while recording is not the most usual way of recording nowadays but doing it for as long as he produces music, Jeroen’s got quite skilled in it. He uses a lot of hardware in the studio, creating the tracks without a computer is also not common nowadays. Always trying to get the maximum out of a minimum setup of equipment means pushing yourself to be creative, and to never give up. His releases appear on several other labels. Jeroen has produced tracks for labels such as: Search,Mission6277/Axis, Grammar, LL-records, Molecular Recordings, Central Special Projects, Ion, Audiosculpture, Cache records, Underground Liberation, Outland records, Smallville records and Figure SPC. Future releases are planned for Pohjola and M_Rec Ltd. Meeting Dimi Angélis back in 2003 a new partnership was born and after releasing records on Steve Rachamd’s Ion imprint and Audiosculpture records it eventually led the techno act “counterpart”, with their debut release on Jeff Mills’ Mission6277/Axis in 2006. Due to that release they decided that it had become time to start to perform as a live act. They put together a dynamic and energetic live set with lots of hardware on stage. Getting gigs at festivals and clubs gives them the opportunity to move forward in today’s techno scene without forgetting about the past. | 2/7/10 | Free | View In iTunes |
