Us & Us Episode 18 | Us & Us: "The Sensitive Adventures Of Ebb And Flow..." A Motion Podcast Episode for September 2011 Transmitting from Mount Vernon, New York, USA Supplying musical therapy by way of vinyl, CD, cassette, and MP3 I've been wanting to say something. Prior to the two episodes from me that popped up out of nowhere last year, I was absent for a year and some change, so I feel like I ought to actually say something. At the same time, the music speak volumes on its own and is far more eloquent than I am. Acts like Jonti, Sepalcure, Toro Y Moi, and When Saints Go Machine represent the current obsessions while the music of Arthur Russell remains a constant inspiration. Arthur's Landing represents lovely for Russell's compositions. There's some beat science from Andres and Sir Froderick as well as Bullion, who had a remix project marrying the work of The Beach Boys with J Dilla's b eats. Ultramarine put out their first new material in over thirteen years, which thrills me to death. And there are pieces from Phil Upchurch and Bill Cosby that resonate strongly with me as of late. The glitchy sensitivity of Claro Intelecto and Auch, the wide-eyed fun of Saint Etienne remixing Pizzicato Five, the album cuts from Funkadelic and The Crusaders that I've been wanting to play for you for months now...this is just me doing what I do. Grabbing some selections from the collection and trying to connect some dots. Thank you very much for joining me. Hope you enjoy the set... Blackball Episode #16 – DimDJ | I've been chasing him down for ages. Distance was an issue as he resides up North but we finally managed to get together for this long awaited episode. It was a pleasure to host long time friend, fellow compatriot and one of my hometown's old dogs... DimDJ started spinning records back in 1992. His influences cover a wider than wide range of musical genres from 80's acid house to 90's techno-rave and ambient all the way to skate-punk and new wave-electro. In 1998 he started experimenting on music production resulting in his first track (under his Magnet moniker) released as part of the Regroovable Market compilation comprising of Greek electronic music artists on Rubber Recordings. Moving on, from 2001 to 2006 he was running the label Relax Records and the project Epidemic Elements with partner in crime Dj PiCi. In 2007 DimDJ together with Mijo started the Audio Atlas project, three years later the duo got releases on Chicago based Mathematics Recordings. DimDJ is currently running the Space Channel on Ustream broadcasting on random dates and times. As if all the above is not enough, he is still developing his love to draw and design under the James Enox alias. All-in-all a multi-talented, versatile man. In this mix we deliver a crossover sound between the leftfield, 80s/90s Acid House, Jack House, Deep&Smooth whatever new sounds like classic, all with a twist. This is Blackball avant garde... | 2/9/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

You will also hear an hour's set of electronic devastation from [crack], and if you know us by now you understand that our support for this duo is committed and unwavering. A huge thank you must go out to those who joined the celebrations and showed your support on the night. It was fun-filled. High fives to those who provided the entertainments too. Guy Andrews – Heresy Mini-Promo Mix | (http://www.pfradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Heresy-Poster-Small.jpg) Relentless research into the realms of Bass music has led to the birth of this new midweek event and label. Heresy aims to bring you the best in post-dubstep, future garage, broken house and quality, forward thinking electronica. Calling upon the freshest talent, seasoned beatsmiths and known veterans, each month our residents and guest DJâs will be bringing something different to this already thriving scene. The Nest 36 Stoke Newington Road, Dalston, London, N16 7XJ Guests: ARKIST (Applepips) DjRUM (2nd Drop) GUY ANDREWS (Hemlock) Residents: Alex Volume Aitch Eldridge 9 â 3am Free before 11pm â £5 After £3 NUS ARKIST Arkist (http://t.ymlp349.net/eavaehuwazauwsaiamu/click.php) Originally from Brighton, with a move to Bristol and starting producing in the same house as Wedge, Gatekeeper & Appleblim Then enrolling on a music tech course at Bath Spa University, his productions have come along way. Arkistâs musical style in his own words takes in âdubstep, techno and houseâ. His biggest release to date was the neon flow of âFill Your Coffeeâ on Bristol based stalwart label Applepips. This summer he has scored a touch down on one of the most talked about labels in the world, Hotflush with âOne Year Laterâ working alongside Kidkut. Not only this, the flipside âRendezvousâ was remixed by none other than the legendary Scuba. DJ wise Arkist has appeared at Fabric, Glastonbury, Glade festival and he has also toured the States extensively. DjRUM DjRUM (http://t.ymlp349.net/macaehuwanauwsacamu/click.php) Since his remix of The Dropâs weighty âLooking To The Skyâ to the recent summer jazzy-soul remix of LV & Message To Bearsâ âExplodeâ. Whatâs noticeable is his diversity in producing unique soundscapes that hint toward the bassy nature of Bristol, and how heâs able to further emote any track he is remixing. With his recent EP Mountains .hitting the stores for 2nd Drop, Heresy feel privaliged to be graced by this talented DJ and producer. His style of Cinematic, atmospheric music on the edge of techno, dubstep, and hiphop, developed from a musical background in jazz, and as a pianist. Production started for him about 10 years ago with a Roland sampler, turntables and a 4 track tape recorder. Heâs made lo-fi sample based trip-hop type stuff but as he got more into Djing, he looked to a more techy sound. Then a few years ago he got back into production, this time with a more technical approach inspired by the dance music he was hearing in London. With a forthcoming Album and guest mix featured on Mary Ann Hobbâs Xfm Show, Dj Rum is a definite one to watch in the forthcoming year. GUY ANDREWS http://guyandrews.co.uk (http://t.ymlp349.net/jaxaehuwanauwsaaamu/click.php) Brighton based producer, Guy Andrews, is fast proving to be one of the most promising bass music makers currently carving his way into the scene. He has set himself aside through blending elements of organic rhythmic percussion, influenced heavily by electro-acoustic, afrobeat and jazz; with modern bass-driven house and techno, creating a distinctive niche of more humanised yet highly electronic bass music. With recent acclaim from XLR8R, Resident Advisor and Dummy Mag and DJ and radio support from the likes of Benji B, L-Vis 1990, Brackles, Sound Pellegrino and Untold a release on internationally recognised Discobelle imprint and a recent 12â on Hemlock comes with little surprise. His unique approach to music production lies in his ability to amalgamate elements from his favourite genres and blend them into cohesive tracks that boast originality and contain cross-genre appeal; this has helped him make his mark as both an aspiring bass music producer and DJ.
