Old people?
Started out smart but when his bias toward older folks came out, it negated his whole argument that he was trying to be open minded. As a 61 y/o creative scientist, these 2 have a lot to learn. Way full of themselves. And yes us old folks "get" the Internet and were writing code before you were born.
Why is this on 5by5???
He had a Kickstarter project funded, but the quality of his shows is spotty. I usually end up deleting the new episode after 10 minutes of watching (I do give them a shot).
His interviewing technique is amateur and bland, and he brings the mundane out of potentially exciting guests. I'm sure his broadcasting repertoire will mature with time and improve, however, I cannot recommend this show to anyone in its present state. To be clear, his video editing skills are not the problem. They are the only entertaining elements of his show, and he is quite skillful. It's more of a content issue.
Also, there is a quality of his personality which is not charming, and borderline annoying. He often comes off as an extremely poor man's Merlin Mann. He should really develop his own voice instead of trying to emulate his Internet hero's.
2 stars, only out of respect for his passion. I really wanted to like his show, but it is just not happening. I have no idea why @danbenjamin let this on the 5by5 lineup.
