Podcast Description
Four times a year, we release a mix of new and interesting (to us) music. We run the gamut from modern classical to indie rock to stomping techno... but we always keep it fresh.

Mix 008 :: The Year We Made Contact | Hailing from anywhere, this mix of deep-as-night ultra-minimal space techno will activate your inner monolith and see you through your next aerobraking maneuver. | 12/30/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mix 007 :: Ein Sof | Ein Sof is a Hebrew term that translates roughly as "The Infinite God." The music is ambient, mysterious, euphoric, and just beyond reach. A departure from the electronic contents of previous Dangercast mixes, Ein Sof captures the musical headspace I've inhabited for the past half year. | 7/17/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mix 006 :: Nu Summer | Summer of 2009 just came to a close, and everything old is Nu again. Disco is Nu. The 80s? Nu. The occasional crunked-out bit of rocktronica is Nu. The Nu Disco genre encompasses much, but has at its core a strong sense of revival from the past decades. Here's a breezy mix of Nu music, most of which was released in the past few months! | 9/23/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mix 005 :: Edge Jazz | Jazz in a funny genre. It lost its cultural cachet quite some time ago -- long enough ago for the music to move underground and evolve. But even in 2009, Jazz is still struggling; it is still looking for its way. There are those who are content to rehash the sounds of the past; there are those who seek to innovate. I'm focusing on the innovators here, but it should be said that there is _so much_ innovation that it is impossible to capture even a tiny slice of it in a short podcast such as this. Jazz musicians are pushing boundaries with new forms, new combinations of instruments, and by merging the music they know with exotic sounds from other genres: minimalist classical, traditional Indian, Klezmer, and abstract electronic all have a part to play. This mix is the "edge"; it's what is on the frontier if you take the classic bop- and Davis-era recordings as your waypoints. In a future mix, perhaps, I'll show what lies beyond that edge -- music from the modern netherworld of jazz where true chaos reigns. | 5/3/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mix 004v2 :: Kaleidoscopic | In my dreams, I'm dying all the time / then I wake to kaleidoscopic mind. Those are the Moby lyrics that inspired my fourth mix: I wanted music that my mind might hear in its final moments. So I poked all over the map and came up with this admittedly strange grab-bag of tracks from across the musical spectrum. (As for Moby: I suspect death ain't downtempo; he didn't make the cut.) | 2/3/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mix 003 :: Skies Are Wide | It's been a while since I've checked in on drum'n'bass. All but dead in the US, the style is on every street corner in London. Listening to new artists and tracks, I discern a bit of a bifurcation: there's the old d'n'b: euphoric, uplifting, sometimes overrun by cheesy vocals. And there's a new sound emerging: dark, with brutal cutting bass lines. Being more nostalgic for the former, I cranked out this old-skool mix. Party times cut with dark interludes, ending in a pensive mood. The skies are indeed wide. | 11/2/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mix 002 :: Portable Dance Party | Okay, look. Sometimes the thing to do is to crank the bass. Rock the four-on-floor. Make it dirty. Make it dark. Above all, make it electrosheek. | 8/2/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

Mix 001 :: Faith Restored | Justice closes out Coachella. I dance. My faith in the potential of electronic music to get people shakin' their booty is restored. Here's a chillaxed dance mix for when you don't quite want to rage as hard as Justice requires of you. | 5/2/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

Head-Spin
You never know what you're gonna get with this podcast, but so far it has always been interesting. The switch to jazz with mix #5 was a bit jarring but I like the willingness to play whatever. My favorite mix by far is #4 with #3 a close-ish second.
