The Field Negro Guide to Arts and Culture a podcast with W. Kamau Bell --- outspoken comedian, race commentator, and stealth educator --- and Vernon Reid --- Guitar Legend, Two Time Grammy Award Winner, and founder of Living Colour. We are here to engage in a weekly, freewheeling conversation that covers everything from everything to everything else. It is two black men who have been accused of being outside of the (black) box so long that they have built homes there. Less a traditional podcast and more like a conversation that you overhear in a coffee shop and can't pull away from. IT also includes previously unreleased music by Vernon Reid and the latest stand-up from W. Kamau Bell.

Gil Scott-Heron passed away May 27, 2011 and left us a legacy of some of the most powerful and legendary political and heartfelt music that the world has ever seen. Episode 15 - Comedian Baron Vaughn: Fighting Against The Box | We’re already back with another episode ---- though it is Vernon free. This time for an interview with Friend of the Show Baron Vaughn. In addition to being an incredibly funny comedian, Baron also appears weekly on USA’s Fairly Legal (which was recently renewed for its second season). He and Kamau discuss his career and comedy and theatre and sociology and hats and all the fascinating, hilarious things that comics discuss when you put them in the same room. It is pretty much the template for why the podcast exists in the first place.
