We talk with convention organizer Mike Heddle and artist Jason Loo about this year’s Joe Con! In the wake of the madness that is SDCC, we almost missed out on the fact that Marvel & DC have their October Solicitations out! I’ll run down what you should be looking for in October. And, because I can, I’m gonna tell you about a few books you should be reading if you’re looking to be cool like me! Episode 166: In Which No One Was Stabbed In The Eye With A Pen | San Diego Comicon has come and gone once again! And like years past, there has been a bevy of news and information expunged into the internet from this once-small convention. Movies, TV, Video Games and even a few Comics were at the centre of this year’s Con, and we run down all the headlines you need to know! Plus, Alan Moore, the Mad Genius of Comics has refused a DC Comics offer that would return the Watchmen rights to the bearded scribe. What? Why’d he do that? We know… And everyone likes the Babes, but do the belong at Comicon? Some say no, we say “you’re dumb.” All that and The Forecast, Questy’s Rant Farm, and so much more!! | 7/28/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Does the final chapter in this epic of epic epicness live up to the rest? Find out!! AND, The Brightest Day is about to get darker according to DC’s latest teaser. We dissect the indissectable! Episode 164: Scott Pilgrim Vs The Watchtower | This week on The Watchtower there is so much to cram into one show, at the end you’re gonna need a nap! I know I did. Any way, first up, the lovely and talented Katherine Curtis is in the studio, and she’s bringing one hell of a surprise with her. Buckle up and get ready because the industry may never be the same after August 27th! Then, in an interview we’ve been after for years, Donnie realizes a dream when he gets to sit down with Bryan Lee O’Malley, the Canadian artist/writer behind the phenomenon known as Scott Pilgrim. With the 6th and final volume as well as the major motion picture due out in the next couple of weeks, there’s a lot to talk about! All that, and we still managed to jam in both parts of The Forecast! It truly is one stop shopping on this week’s episode of The Watchtower! | 7/13/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 163: What Not To Wear | This week on The Watchtower we break it down and put it back together! The world has a new Spider-Man! And he’s… who? Andrew Garfield was introduced to the world as the newest Peter Parker. Will he live up to the responsibility? Or the Power? Or… the… I dunno, something else? Up next, Makeovers!! Jeff “Clinton” Moss and Donnie “Stacy” Coulter run down the good and the bad of Wonder Woman’s new gear! And there’s been a lot of talk about vampires lately, but they all don’t sparkle. We run down some decent comic book vampires that you may or may not of hear of. Plus, The Forecast, Questy’s Rant Farm and Spoiler Roulette! | 7/7/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 162: Saving Comics, One Cover At a Time | This week on The Watchtower, there’s much ado about nothing… and much ado about something! (What?) We dig deep into the Marvel Vs DC Digital Compensation arguments. Healthy competition is one thing, but these guys are one step away from Yo Mama jokes! Next up, our friends The Suicide Girls aren’t going to be at this year’s SDCC. Not very cool, but one has to ask… should they have been there in the first place? And also The Forecast, Questy’s Rant Farm, and Jeff saves print comics!! Tune in to find out how!! | 6/30/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 161: They’re Both Words (The Just Don’t Make Sense Together) | This week on The Watchtower we get down and dirty with the biggest issues (see what I did there?) facing comics today!! First up, with the One Moment In Time story looming in the distance, we ask can retconning a retcon really work? And honestly, was Brand New Day that bad? DC Comics has come under fire for killing off Ryan Choi, the new Atom. Why, you ask? Because he is a minority character, something that seems to be few and far between in the DCU. Are DC a buncha racists? Or is this just the way the cookie crumbles? All this plus, the Forecast, Questy’s Rant Farm and Jonah Hex may be the worst movie ever made, and we haven’t even seen it!! | 6/23/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 158: Water Bagged and Boarded | This week on The Watchtower, Donnie’s back! And not a moment too soon, as we’ve got a whole bunch o’crap to jam into this week’s episode! Movies movies movies! So much news this week, all coming out faster than we could keep up with! We’ve whittled it down to the big stuff though! Green Lantern, The Flash, Scott Pilgrim, Thor and Spider-Man all made the cut, so take notes! There will be a test… maybe. Jerry Siegel. Joe Shuster. Stan Lee. Jack Kirby. Probably the four most important names in comics. Each one has had their share of legal woes with the companies that own their creations, and now the Estate of Jack Kirby is suing Marvel/Disney to get his characters back. We ask the big question: what if they win? Plus, Mark Millar and Lenil Francis Yu have a new project on the way. Teaser images for “Superior” have hit the net, and they’ve caused quite a stir. Episode 157: All By Myself, Don’t Wanna Be All By Myself | This week on The Watchtower, Donnie is no longer with us. No, he didn’t die or get “restructured,” he’s come down with a pretty nasty throat infection (No word on if Despotellis was involved). So, I thought to myself “What would I want to hear on The Watchtower?” I can tell you this: It isn’t me prattling on about nothing. So, I dipped into the Archives and brought out our interview with the one and only Kevin Smith. We spoke with him back in February, and I’m proud to present this second look at a great chat with a great dude. But that’s not all of course. Not unlike Atlas himself, I put the weight of The Forecast solely on my shoulders, and let you know what’s good in the world of comics before embarking on a journey that can only be called JEFFY’s Rant Farm? That’s a terrible name. Not to worry though, Donnie will be back next week, fresh as a daisy and wrong as ever! | 5/25/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 156: A Pants-Off Dance-Off | That’s right ladies and gents, this week on The Watchtower it’s the one thing you’ve always wanted from us: PORN! Yep, that’s right, we go deep in an exclusive one-on-one probing interview with Axel Braun, the man behind Vivid Entertainment’s Batman: A XXX Parody. As the hits on the Youtube explode, we penetrate the internet buzz and really get inside the issues surrounding this new film. Also, we say goodbye to some old friends this week. Heroes has been officially cancelled by NBC, Siege has come to an end, and one of the fallen is given his proper send off. But it’s not all doom and gloom! There’s a Heroic Age upon us! Which means new books, new TV shows, new Avengers, and oh so much more! Plus, Superboy gets the best possible writer, Daredevil’s got some new gear, and of course The Forecast. I’m telling you, if this show was any tighter… Well, that’s probably best left unsaid. | 5/18/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 155: Steal This Radio Show | This week on The Watchtower, we tackle all the issues, and we start by donning our Eyepatches and Peg Legs to talk about Piracy! The popular website for scanned comics HTMLcomics.com was shut down this week by a coalition of publishers, retailers, and creators. Is it OK to download comics? We’ve almost all contributed to piracy in some way, shape or form, but does it change things when it’s a comic? Also, X-Men: First Class has had to deal with scheduling conflicts that have made it impossible for Bryan Singer to be in the director’s chair. Who can fill his shoes? And will they kick enough ass to do a good job? Find out! All this plus The Forecast, Questy’s Rant Farm and of course, and in-depth review of Iron Man 2! | 5/11/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 154: A Doozie of An Iron Man Twozie | This week on The Watchtower we pry Donnie away from the Xbox long enough to talk about a few things. First up, Free Comic Book Day has come and gone for another year. Did you have a good time? We certainly did, and we’ll tell you all about it! Plus, are the books worth it? Or do you get what you pay for? This week marks the North American release of Iron Man 2! Tony Stark is everyone’s favourite guy in a robotic suit… or is he? We pit the CEO of Stark Industries against the Dark Lord of The Sith, Darth Vader in a contest of “Who’s Suit Is Better?” And also, a sad note as we mark the passing of a longtime X-Man. And by mark, I mean wonder if it means anything at all. All this plus The Forecast, Questy’s Rant Farm, and oh, so much more!! (well in reality, only a little more. I’ve pretty much covered it here. But you get the idea) | 5/4/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Episode 153: You Get What You Pay For | This week on The Watchtower, there’s even more than usual to get to! We’re on the cusp of Free Comic Book Day 2010, but what’s the big deal? Are there any books really work slogging to the store for? Or is this another case of “get what you pay for?” We break it all down. On the multimedia side, it was a big week for movie and TV news. Green Hornet, Wanted 2, Ronin, Ghost Rider 2 and more all had interesting tidbits worth jawin’ about, plus Warner has announced 2 new animated series! MAD? Why, it’s plum crazy! And Batman’s going live. No, not Viral, Live. We will explain all… Plus we’ve got The Forecast, Questy’s Rant Farm and more love than you can shake a stick at! That’s a lot of love, here on The Watchtower! | 4/27/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

great stuph
these 2 dudes are having fun whilst talking about fun things...comics -> give this one a go!
Good stuff
The two hosts have good chemistry and play well off of each other. The podcast sounds well produced and they have great segments and guests. Plenty of good info. Subscribe to this one.
Nerd Points Up The Wazoo
This really IS good stuff. Super nerdy, comic-con type things goin' on here. They really know what they're talking about, and even if you don't read that many comics, this is fun to listen to. Also a great way to find out about new titles that you might be interested in. If you can't buy them, a lot of titles could be available at your public library. Plus, great interviews with people you might have actually heard of. So listen and laugh!
