Podcast Description

This is True is the video podcast version of a weekly syndicated newspaper column by Colorado humorist Randy Cassingham. True reports on bizarre-but-true news items from legitimate newspapers from around the world (never "tabloids"). Each story ends with commentary by Randy -- a tagline which is humorous, ironic or opinionated. An online pioneer, True has been publishing online weekly since June 1994.

Great Stories & Poor Editorials Average to Good

Randy has a great knack for finding odd-ball stories and succinctly reporting them. However, I usually find his editorialism and tongue-in-cheek wit to be tacky at best and often patronizing. I am certain that his audience would be able to understand the point of the story without his comments. The translation from print to video is not working. The actress presenting the stories does a very good job reading the stories, but she doesn't sound convinced when she tries to give Randy's one-liner at the end. Leave out the obvious opinions and poor wit and you will have a five star podcast.

You'll Roll on the Floor Laughing...

Randy does some great research to dig up great stories of idiocy and foolishness from around the world. I am sure he does not lack for material, but he sure seem to find the best gems out there, but then he delivers the stories with his own punch-lines. More fun than a standup comedy act and the most amazing thing is... they are all True! Hard to believe sometimes, but he really does run these down to make sure they are real people doing some of the stupidest things you've ever heard. Pass it on to your friends.

Funnier Than Your Average Bear!

Once again Randy has left me lacking for breath and it takes a lot to get me laughing. I'm a long time This Is True subscriber and have truly enjoyed the idiocy that he's brought to the surface. It's truly amazing how varied the gene pool is out there. I'm glad I've subscribed to his podcasts if for no other reason than discovering just what a debonair fellow Randy appears to be ... full of sophisitication he is! It just oozes from every pore. He's not like most satirists I've come across who are best left to print work! Definitely an enjoyable fellow who I'd even let my sister date; if he wasn't already attached that is.
