Wipecat #13 – dreams come, dreams go | waved away by greenartist chillwave dreampop indie shoegaze coldwave garage Back together again ! Must tell you it's the first podcast since november of 2010. It's a pity, but here's the compensation for long silence. After 6 months I'm proudly presenting you wipecast #13 called "dreams come, dreams go" ... The podcast hasn't been named occasionally: its subtitle signifies my interest to dreampop music and its modern varieties. Almost all these artists are from New World, and it's the likes of Warm Ghost, Balam Acab, Cortney Tidwell and Atlas Sound. Their music is often tagged as "chillwave", "cold wave" or "witch house" (the last term has nothing to do with house music familiar to us). However, in the mix you can find a wide range of electronic music from future garage of Floating Points and Pariah to our fellow countrymen EU (Ёлочные Игрушки) and much talked-of british band The xx with their oh so simple but pleasant melodies. An interesting and even surprising interpretation of Caribou's "Sun" is given by a young artist called Altrice who has reworked all the tracks from the "Swim" LP and has issued them all in his own album "Stem". We could not pass by the new full-lenght album from UK's White Lies, majestic synth-pop delivered by Brooklyn-based Light Asylum duo, and honeysweet "hypnagogic pop" by Ariel Pink and Toro y Moi (once again, US guys). We hope you won't overlook these almost radio-friendly hip-hop takes made by Fake Four Records artists Ron Contour and Deadpan Darling, blues-alike passages of Fin Greenall (known as Fink as well as Sideshow) and Damon Aaron music's superfine tissue. This is his lullaby tune we decided to be last in the mix (for the second time !) Thanx for support ! | 3/20/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Wipecast # 12 Special – Ideal Moment | Hello to everyone, today we have probably the most long-awaited special issue. I guess in our music tastes we've all moved away from the academic sounding, but still professional and gifted composers move classic school to the future and make it adsorb the spirit of now and give us fresh swirls of melodies and moods. It's more than six months ago that the idea of creating a modern classics compilation has been born, and among our friends a man was found who doesn't only listen to such music, but also collects it on vinyl. Even if you're not into academic music you will surely feel the modernism's breath all over the compilation. Classic music gives us lessons of harmony and the sense of melody, and considering our total estrangement from the beautiful in favour of the mass and pop culture such compilations play a part of aesthetic presents. The only thing that's left is to wish you an enjoyable listening, at least for your cultural benefication and the extension of your perception. I recommend to listen to the issue at the very least two times, just because during the second listening the music's effect increases, and after the third listening the mix tends to live in your mp3-player for a long time. -- compiled and mixed by Chronaut | 12/20/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Wipecast # 10 Special – “I Shoegazer” | Special Issue - "I Shoegazer" a dreampop/shoegaze/space-rock/post-rock/etherial muzik podkast The newest and the freshest wipecast is now available to you and it is really a special issue. While all the previous wipecasts were never dedicated to a particular genre of music ('cause it's been always mashed up), this very podcast is quite what you think seeing its title. Today we play shoegaze and dreampop - beautiful, deeply emotional music with a specific sound. These genres had such a rough destiny, there were times when nobody seemed to take care about them, but still we see now, in modern times, a kind of their revival. In our special issue you can find the genre's milestones as well as new collectives (sometimes called "new-gazers"). Even if you hear the word "shoegaze" for the first time, this doesn't make sense - having listened to this wipecast you'll get acquainted to the scene, so welcome to the trip !! | 10/16/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Wipecast #9 | For me, it is not an ordinary volume of wipecast series, it's a little celebration, just because wipecasing is one year old. It means that already for one year we've been listening to excellent and strictly selected folk, indie, soul, dubby and trip-hop tunes mixed altogether in a form of podcast. Different epochs, different genres - what remained anyway (and still remains!) is material's level. Even if it is commercial, it is not a consumers' stuff - our music is quality music. Wipecasts are being made under the veil of the night, tracks are selected all day long in the record stores and internet forums. Thanx to bassbin.ru for some missing elements in this puzzle that I was glad to find in your store. Greetz to all the listeners who have heard at least one wipecast !! Also greetz to all the podcastes, musicians and deejays all over the world, cause they've been doing all their best !! | 9/6/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Today - some of the tunes I've been waiting for months (or even years) to put in a mix, but only now it's become possible. Amongst them - more of jazzy tunes than usual (especially japanese massive !!), weird songs by the likes of Ariel Pink, Why? and Arcade Fire, a very special collaboration between an electronic producer Zilla and a freak indie band called The Chap, track from the first The Cure's album, a great cover of Bryan Ferry's "Don't Stop The Dance" made by Morr Music artist with such a russian name Masha Qrella, some portions of quality slo-mo deep house and trip-hop - and here's the newest wipecast ready for your ears !! So enjoy !! | 6/11/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Wipecast #7 | Great 2 know you have good music in your collection that you can select and mix like you want to ! Here it is - the brand new volume of wipecast series dedicated to May holidays and to the final arrival of spring 2010. Wide range of music mixed in 77-minute podcast - from folk, indie and perfect pop to soul and even modern classic. Some part of the mix is up to french touch and post-daft punk electronic scene - today it's Anoraak, Shazam & the most incredible french band - Cassius. Nice and pretty Finland-based Husky Rescue come to help us in the case of the lack of good folkie music, my favourite folktronica greats from Florida - Electric President - are also here with a really beatiful tune. Another likes you should listen to carefully are the likes of Why?, Foals and Alex Cornell (who's that??) singing Empire Of The Sun's Walking On A Dream. Cover songs ain't just a word here - almost in every wipecast you can esaily find a couple of interesting interpretations of famous tracks. In a jazz wave we found old stuff from great minimalist-composer Steve Reich and really funny piece from contemporary jazz musicians from Finland (you'll read their names yourselves if you want to:). Soulful hip-hop from Ubiquity Records artist Damon Aaron as the last tune covers it all. Enjoy the atmosphere and be waiting for the new volume !! | 5/7/10 | Free | View In iTunes |

Новые треки от нордических властителей умов Datarock, The Whitest Boy Alive и Martyn'a, классический Motown sound Стиви и Марвина, древний (и самый лучший) дрим-поп от This Mortal Coil и Сьюзи Сью, а также достойные продолжатели их дела - наши современницы, бруклинские девчонки из Telepathe. Расслабленный, но чёткий и стильный бит от мастеров "нового" диско - без него никак не обойтись ...)) В довершении - долгожданная новая работа меланхоличного дуэта Raz Ohara And The Odd Orchestra И уже по традиции, спасибо Стэшу и Вайпу за идею, наверняка не последнюю стоющую идею, рождённую нами на кухне :) The whole world is a circus, dontcha be the clown. Wipecast #2 | Some autumn rendez-vous ... Some cool stuff ... Interesting beats, nice moods, melodramatic songs, indie, jazzy and balearic - second volume of wipecasts series is less chaotic than its prescedant. Except main moods - really good material from Sideshow aka Fink (you might know him as a Ninja Tune artist), mista Lars Bartkuhn (Sonar Kollektiv) with his jazz-neoclassics, Milosh and Boozoo Bajou from !K7, dub interpretation of a classic Pink Floyd's tune, another old song by The Velvet Underground (1967), their legators such as Ride and Slowdive and even experimental hip-hop from FaltyDL and Kelpe. Hard not to be unimpressed ;) | 10/27/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Wipecast #1 | First wipecast - august 2009 > > > intoducing to wipecast series > > > ... to begin with, i never really loved podcasts culture and didn't listen to them much, except maybe some of Resident Advisor podcasts. But one day last summer, just an idea changed my mind. I realized that podcasts are worth recording, because it's probably the only way to introduce your friends with your latest musical discoveries. Social networks and huge musical portions like DVD-R's no longer helped. Besides, it's convenient to yourself - you can listen to tracks you've selected and you've mixed the way you liked to - instead of browsing your player searching for the best songs. So, almost every track in these podcasts is my favourite track and have been listened many many times, sometimes on repeat. I guess something made them so non-annoying :) Not so much of new music and trendy music - just good tunes of all kinds. Wipecast is polystylistic !! And it's not for analysing progressive tendences or something. It just has its own mood, sometimes melancholy, sometimes more optimistic. So, take a look on it - wipecast series with strictly good music !! | 7/24/09 | Free | View In iTunes |
