Stockholm 2011!

Anna Bergendahl has the best song this year and I think that she will win.Tom Dice is very good also and Ireland´s Niam Kavanagh is really great.
I am also going to recommend Anna Bergendahl´s new album. It is called Yours Sincerely and it is amazing!Buy it!

Album only????

Why is Satellite restricted to "Album only"? That's one of the few songs actually worth the money. Oh well, I'll find it somewhere else... Sad attempt to make extra money for the songs no-one will purchase.

Pick the Pearls

The songs from the ESC 2010 are, as each year, a mix of high quality compositions, of so-so songs and of songs that can only be labelled as crap. The capacity of the performers also range from very competent singers with star quality on one hand to embarrassingly false singing wannabees on the other hand. Bulgaria's contribution to the contest is actually one of the best up-tempo songs and the singer Miro has one of the best voices in this year's contest. It is incomprehensible that Bulgaria didn't qualify for the final while much weaker songs and performers passed on. Angel si ti has certainly a great potential for sailing up as a winning dance hit this summer and might very well be one of the songs from this years competition that will last for more than one season. Another song with the special something is Je ne sais quoi with Hera Björk (Iceland), it is tight and fast-paced and will with no doubt hit the dance floors letting you enjoy many happy dancing hours. So keep dancing with Miro and Hera all summer!
Surprisingly, Lako Je Sve, Feminem (Croatia) didn't make it to the final, it has obviously been grossly underestimated by the audience. Lako Je Sve is quite an exquisite song with many shifting layers, you have to listen several times to see what a shiny jewel this song is.
The winning song in ESC 2010, Satellite with Lena (Germany) is at first catchy with it's cute baby-talk song style, the singer is more reciting than actually singing the song lyrics and the music is very poky but it's a humdrum song and it soon becomes unbearably annoying. The performing of the song is overly childish and might have connotations that appeal to a certain audience. However it is certainly not a candidate for becoming an evergreen, till next year it will merciful enough have passed into total obliviousness as all ephemeral songs always do.
I wish that more countries had the courage to sing their songs in their native language. The prosody is another layer in the song that contributes to the overall experience of the song.

This album comprises both highs and lows but fortunately you don't have to buy the whole album, you can pick songs of your own choice although there are some exceptions from this. My own picks are a mix of the best up-tempo songs and ballads:

Me and My Guitar, Tom Dice (Belgium) and This is my life, Anna Bergendahl (Sweden) are unfortunately Album Only, otherwise these two would have been added to my mix.
And if you are inclined towards irony then Lost and Forgotten, Peter Nalitch (Russia) is an obvious pick.
