About Courtney C, sometimes known as “Courtney” outside of the online community, is a registered dietitian in her home state of Iowa. She is an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and can often be found spending her Saturdays in the fall yelling at the TV and doing the “touchdown dance.” She has been living with type 1 diabetes since 1989. Diagnosed at age 5, she doesn’t remember life without chronic illness. C was introduced to the DOC a couple years ago through the JDRF sponsored website, Juvenation. She soon joined Twitter and then began blogging at C’s Life With D. C realizes living life with D is difficult for everyone in any stage of life, living with any form of diabetes. This led her to her career choice and ultimate goal of becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). She hopes to help change the lives of everyone struggling through diabetes. C shares her life story openly and honestly. She hopes her experiences provide reassurance to everyone living with diabetes – letting them know they are never alone. | 22 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |

Topic: Express Yourself About Lee Ann I have been providing services to children, teens and adults for over 10 years in in-patient, residential, school, and community-based settings, treating clients with a broad range of psychiatric and interpersonal issues. Over the last few years, I have focused most of my energy on providing art therapy to people with medical issues, an interest that stems from my 30+ years living with type 1 diabetes. I have been a guest presenter at local and regional diabetes support groups, facilitated art-making activities in conjunction with various diabetes organizations and events, including the Children with Diabetes Friends for Life Conference, and I organize and facilitate the web-based Diabetes Art Day initiative. In addition to my work with the diabetes community, I have led workshops and groups for breast cancer survivors and fibromyalgia patients. I am Adjunct Professor of Art Therapy at Holy Family University, a consultant for the HeART and Health program at Appel Farm Arts and Music Center, and an advocate for diabetes, mental health, and arts in healthcare causes. Outside of my practice, teaching, consulting and advocacy activities, I am a painter and mixed-media artist, and a doctoral student in the Expressive Therapies program at Lesley University | 1 9 11 | Free | View In iTunes |
